About Paul's Restaurant
Paul's Restaurant is a neighborhood eatery that serves sushi and creative comfort food in casual, relaxed surroundings. Run by Chef Paul Albrecht, the restaurant's menu features a careful balance of creative sandwiches, tasty appetizers and roasted entrees. First time here and I was a bit disappointed. Very " mature" crowd. Not exactly a hot spot. Some food was good, e.g. Lobster roll and calamari but the house " homemade" chips were a greasy, limp embarrassment.
Tables are jammed so close some customers couldn't get their walkers through.
Skip this joint unless Hal's is booked.
We have been passing by Paul's for a couple of years and finally decided to try this place. We were delightfully surprised at the quality of the food and especially the service we received from Rick. We want to return and bring some friends with us very soon.
Once again, I found Paul's to be a great experience. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I believe it is a very good value and a pleasant place to dine and enjoy a cocktail.
Amanda was my server and she has a great personality and adds to the entire experience.
After a long day of learning at ADAC we were looking for a relaxing evening with good food and wine. One of the locals recommended Paul's and we were sure glad she did. Both the small plates and entrees were excellent and even better than expected. There was a nice selection of wine by the glass or bottle and interesting cocktails. I was too full for dessert but the mini ice cream cones looked so cute and yummy it was hard to pass them up.
Tuesday 7:00, lovely weather including a colorful sunset, only two tables occupied on what should be a delightful 2nd floor covered deck, oyster special night: overall just barely ok. We shared an ok cocktail & a dozen raw oysters which were quite good. Our entrees were ok with a nice wine recommended by our server. Everything up there needs a good cleaning, most especially the heavy plastic curtains which were inexplicably 2/3 closed and the dusty tables without placemats. Such a shame.
I selected Paul's last minute when it showed up as having an availability 30 minutes from the time I searched. The food was excellent- I had the Pork with Mac n Cheese and my husband had the Shrimp and Scallop. Both selections were exceptionally well presented and tasty. I also had their famous Mojito( can't remember the name maybe blueberry something). Our server Rick was great and we will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu!
Tired of same old food offerings? Then Paul's is the restaurant you should go to. After a wonderful and generous vodka martini, we had an outstanding spegetti squash salad with goat cheese and three small plates. The braised short ribs with mushroom risotto was very tasty and tender, but the crispy tuna with plantain and potatoes was the best small plate I ever had anywhere. Cannot wait to go back.
There was nothing wrong with this restaurant: service was okay, food was okay, price was okay, etc. But none of it really stuck out as excellent either. The dishes were prepared well, but I simply didn't enjoy the taste that much. There were some interesting selections on the cheeseboard, but I'm not sure that would be enough for me to recommend it to others.
I've been going to Paul's for as long as it has been open and always thought it was a great neighborhood restaurant. We went 2 nights ago and found a significant change in the menu. Lots of trendy small plates, but they had taken calves liver off the menu, something Paul once told me he would never do. Also, they no longer serve bread, only crackers. I think their clientele is more old school than young and trendy and this is a real downer. I don't plan to go back.
I have been to this place several times through the years. However this was my first visit this year and I was very disappointed. The menu had changed drastically! I am usually entertaining a large groups, so a menu that is diverse is very important. I am not sure if its a change in ownership or not but the changes are not good. No more are there great lamb chops or home made potato chips with blue cheese. The best thing on the menu was the fried lobster tail BLT! I am not really looking for a sandwich for dinner. I can't say that I will visit again.
We like the way the restaurant is setup. This is not a kid friendly restaurant but host accommodated my family of five and made it an awesome experience. The food was well prepare and plated. I could see are waiter was new but did great job serving us. My wife and I will come back.
We were very disappointed that Paul's just got rid of their sushi on the menu. They instead added several small plates that were not good at all. We had to send back the mussels as they were pretty nasty and no one could eat them. We always used to love walking to this favorite neighborhood spot but don't think we will be returning as long as the new menu is in place.
Having dined at Pauls before, I came to expect 5star service and food! I don't think the waiter could hear ?! and the Lobster tail was NOT up to par at all. Had to ask for candle to be lite, never saw water and you need to train your staff on customer service. Have been a business owner for 40+ years , your staff needs a refresher course on service. I never could understand the gentleman who greated us, nor could I hear him! However, my guests thought it was amusing as they couldn't either. I really feel your resturant and service is going down hill. That's All! P.S. I still tipped 20+ % , out of sympathy!
Rick was our waiter and took care of us so well. I felt like I was eating in a relative's kitchen. He treated us like we were his family. The food was amazing. I could have eaten the fried green tomatoes forever. The Jerusalem artichokes and Brussels sprout were to die for. My filet was perfect. Our table of 6 shared 4 deserts and could have gone for four more. The white chocolate cheesecake was the best I have ever had.
The menu was so terrific, I had a difficult time in choosing ! We were a party of 4 and when we arrived it was busy in there. We were seated in a short, timely manner. Getting back to the food, when it arrived it didn't disappoint....everything was delicious and tasty! We all ordered something different on the menu and we just as pleased. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next dining experience there very soon as well!
The food was good, but the service was really bad. We waited for 20 minutes before some offered us water. The bartender was abrasive and the server once we got seated was too busy tending to his personal work needs than his customers (i.e., talking to the chefs behind the counter, stacking bowls and plates, checking his phone, etc.). We got seated at 8pm (for a 7:30 reservation) and did not leave the restaurant until almost 10pm -- that's how long it took to eat. It did not help that we were all trying to get in and out of dinner early as everyone had an early start to their day the next day. I was not overly impressed. Kind of a bummer.
