Pauline's Ratings and Reviews
I was drawn to the reviews mentioning that this was favorite of locals. My veal meatloaf was delicious but my husband had a burger and that was pretty mediocre-and you are charged for things like adding tomatoes. Also we were drawn to the online menu mentioning a lamb burger. The server told us and another party near us that those are menu "specials" and only available on the menu at certain times. The online menu should be updated. All in all it's just an OK place.
Pauline's was recommended by our hotel just a few minutes away. Food was fresh, creative, prepared and presented beautifully. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Location in a main road was convenient and once inside we could have been in a secluded forest. Atmosphere was cozy and warm and seemed to embody Vermont comfortable cuisine. So glad we had the opportunity to enjoy Pauline's.
We had a wonderful experience in every way at Pauline's. The server was polite and very competent. The meal was served at just the right pace. The food was fantastic. It was very creative, delicious and beautiful. The restaurant itself is pretty and warm. Dinner at Pauline's was totally delightful in every way and we cannot wait to go back.
We had an 11:00 reservation for brunch. It took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee. The meal arrived just before 12:00. One hour for brunch items? They must have been overwhelmed but it wasn't packed when we arrived...plenty of open seating. No acknowledgement of the delays, very little attention from the staff. Food was mediocre. A "side " of bacon came as two burnt pieces. Can't imagine serving that to anyone. Will avoid at all costs in the future.
Pauline's is a great place for any kind of gathering. We had visiting family from Maryland and we knew Pauline's would be a great place to eat and visit because it is an easy setting in which to have conversation without having to yell. My mom is 84 and Pauline's is always her first choice! Great selection and great food.
Came here with friends as a last minute choice. A cute, summer cafe type atmosphere with light wood tables and a view of the sunset. My friends had been here before and said it was good. On this night we all found it to be just okay. The sauce on the pork was a bit salty and the meat didn't have much flavor. I did enjoy the vegetables that came with the meal as they were cooked perfectly and didn't have garlic all over them. The potatoes were dry and flavorless. The prices on the early bird menu are great, and the regular menu average. The waiter was very friendly but did not know the wine list at all. Actually he didn't know the menu that well either. Luckily we were not in a rush and didn't mind waiting for the check either. My friends felt like it was a different chef than when they had been there previously. Maybe we just caught it on a bad night. Overall it was just an okay experience.
First visit here for our wedding anniversary dinner. Excellent staff, very attentive, and timely. Nice ambiance. It was Burger night. The Thai Shrimp appetizer was phenomenal. Our meals were prepared exactly to our requests. A bit pricey for blue collars like us, but worth it for our special occasion.
Wouldn't go back ever!! Bar prices rediculous. $16 for a shot of talisker on ice! $1 per person for bread with dinner, which we never got. $20 for a very small salad with chicken. Charged for a drink that was waiters error. Food was actually good BUT too many hidden cost.
The early dining experience was so enjoyable. I have severe acid reflux which dictates the need to eat at an early hour. I usually go to Leunigs and have felt rushed the past few times. Now Paulines will be my go to restaurant when friends visit from out of town. Thank you for a fabulous meal.
I have recommended Pauline's to many friends. Pauline's is comfortable quiet & the quality of the offering are consistently of excellent quality. I have eaten at Pauline's many times including lunch, dinner, lunch & Sunday brunch. Always worth the drive.
Thank you, Magnolia

Always one of our favorite dining places, and love the Early Bird Special meal options ($18 +/-) - as the food is always great and the services is very attentive and friendly. All this - without having to travel to downtown Burlington and fight the traffic of downtown - makes it a very special place to eat.
Excellent! We enjoyed our dinner at Pauline's so much. The food was amazing, especially the crab cakes, the beet salad, the garlic tomato toast and the maple glazed salmon. Desserts were also incredible. We would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone that appreciates great food, awesome service and a nice simple quiet atmosphere. We will visit again when in the area for sure.
It's hard to know where to start. I made reservations explaining we would have 2 very elderly people with walkers as guests. After arriving, the mishaps began with the handicapped parking space being so flooded with over 4 inches of water that it totally soaked all our shoes. No one can control the weather, but they can make sure there's adequate drainage in their parking lot so that shoes are not literally ruined.
The main problem, however, was lack of staffing in the kitchen to accommodate the number of guests dining that night , and wait staff to deal with the number of customers. We had a 6:30 reservation, and it took 45 minutes alone to get our cocktails and some cold popovers & bread. Over a solid hour later, our appetizers finally arrived. At nearly 9:00 PM we had not yet seen our entrees.
It was a pretty awful night, although I will say what appetizers we had were fine. But after waiting around forever in wet shoes, my sister then literally snapped. Taking 2 people in their 90s out for a celebration had turned into a nightmare. We left after a minor altercation with a very rude man who I assume was the manager. To his credit, we were not charged even though we offered to pay for our drinks and appetizers. NOT to his credit, he offered no apology, and even slammed down the specialty cake we had brought with us (which they told me they would serve for $2.50 per plate).
I assume from other reviews this may be a fluke. I really can't say, and I hope others have a better experience. We will not be back though-- in general I can say I have a fair amount of tolerance for errors and mishaps, but this was truly dreadful.
