Paulette's Restaurant at the River Inn of Harbor Town
Paulette's, which has been operating successfully in Memphis for 42 years, recently moved its popular, award winning operation to the River Inn. It has been described by one reviewer as "A Memphis institution and for a very good reason". Paulette's is serving the same soups, salads, and entrees that have made it so well known throughout the mid-south for many years. The restaurant has always been famous for its desserts and hot popovers with strawberry butter. Paulette's has a distinct warmth, charm and ambiance that is unsurpassed in the city. Restaurant polls have annually recognized Paulette's as Memphis" "Most Romantic" and for it's cuisine - "Best Continental".
Our 49th anniversary but I am not sure why you asked when we made the reservation since nothing “special” was done nor was it mentioned.
The woman employee that greeted us as we walked in never looked at us nor smiled. Not a good impression and if I didn’t know this restaurant my attitude would have gone downhill.
I got the impression she thought we couldn’t afford to eat here.
The server, Mike, was excellent!!
We went to Paulette's to celebrate our anniversary. The food was perfect and our server was very friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back and tell our friends.
A bit pricey but the food was absolutely delicious. They brought yummy popovers with strawberry butter to us for free. Spent about $110 after tax and tip to comfortably feed two.
We love going to Paulette's in Harbor Town/downtown Memphis! Last night was just "ok". The service was a little slow. We both ordered the salmon cakes which were delicious. However, our asparagus and mashed potatoes were barely warm. Our server was ok but seemed to be so busy with other tables. Otherwise, we had a nice dinner. We will go back as we do enjoy Paulette's!
Great food as always!
The food was so good. I really enjoyed everything. My server was very polite, professional and accommodating. He never rushed us and kept checking to see if we needed anything. I appreciate his special treat with the berries and juice in the champagne flutes. I do plan to visit again.
It was awful! How did this restaurant ever get recommended? The server was attentive and did a respectable job. And it was quiet (maybe because no one was there). But the food was terrible and the wine list pathetic. We'll never go back.
Not much crab in the crab crepes
We enjoyed our time at Paulettes/Harbor Town. It was our first experience at this location. All previous visits took place at the original location in Overton Square. The food was excellent and very much enjoyed the ambiance and the view of the river. My only complaints ... slow to receive drink refills on my tea, and we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and made note of that when I placed the reservation and was a little disappointed that none of the staff made reference to it. Otherwise, very nice experience.
What a treat it always is to be at Paulette's and enjoy delicious food, as well as a wonderful atmosphere. Our entrees were delicious, as were the desserts. We look forward to returning.
Several unique dishes- a peach caprese salad that was divine and the appetizer popover with homemade raspberry butter was delicious. Simple menu yet elegant. A great place to go for a special occasion.
It took 30 minutes to order and receive our drinks and almost an hour to receive our food. Paulettes comped our appetizer and dessert. Everything was delicious but took too long.
Every step of our experience was great. Lee was our waiter. He was very knowledgeable, hospitable, and welcoming.
The service was unusually bad. New server. Brought out two dishes incorrect and one dish the meat was raw. Long wait knowing we were on a time schedule. Very disappointed that management didn't even apologize.
We have eaten at Paulette's many times over the years, they never fail to deliver and impress. One of the true treasures of Memphis Dining
Wonderful & intimate dining experience. The red fish & syrawberry crepe were best ever. Thank you for the warm service, too.
It was Saturday night, so the restaurant was full. Since this was our first visit, I’m not sure us this service is always this slow, but it was just the two of us and we were there 1 1/2 hours.
The main entrees were good. Even though the steak was only listed on the menu as just having potatoes, it also came with asparagus. My wife asked if it also came with a vegetable and was told no. Luckily, we both like asparagus, but what if we hadn’t?
Desert was slow to arrive (service was all night) and the chocolate brownie was nothing to jump and didn’t about. It wasn’t bad, it was just a little sweeter than chocolate.
The restaurant was noisy, but that was probably because it was a crowded Saturday night, and we were next to one of “those tables” where everyone has to talk over each other and be heard.
I’d give them another try but I also think there are better options in town.
We absolutely LOVE Paulette's! Our celebration dinner could not have been nicer. The service, food and ambiance were outstanding even though it was extremely busy. They really know how to handle their customers. It is our FAVORITE place for a nice dinner in Memphis. We WILL be coming back. We also love staying at the River Inn when we visit our family. It is the BEST! We have been coming for over 9 years and have recommended it to all our friends. Everyone has commented on what a wonderful experience they had. We look forward to our next visit!!!!!
The server ensured we understood the menu and gave us attentive service. The venue is beautiful and I would further describe it as causal elegance.
It was a great experience, until my husband destroyed the brownie. :( But I loved all the food!
Waiter was a little too chatty. I was on date night with my dinner partner. I did not desire to get to know our server or answer questions about us that he asked.
Maybe the servers should be told the reason for the reservation and give privacy as needed. Other than being too chatty, service was okay, not great.
Also, the Monday special was not special. The taste of the beef tips was good, but not very elegant as would be expected for the restaurant and the price. Salad was too skimpy also.
Vacation was a blast enjoying this restaurant for dinner for breakfast one of the mornings we enjoyed Memphis. Will definitely come here again when we are in town!
Paulette's is always wonderful. The food is superb, the waitstaff is attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Their Monday night specials are a real treat!
We have always enjoyed Paulette's for a special dinner or brunch. Our food was delicious, as usual, but our service was not good. We sat for 15 minutes before we even got a glass of water. It seemed that they were short-handed for brunch.
We had a great experience at Paulette's. The food was great and our waiter, George, was excellent. The view of the river makes the experience.
Server was personable, yet professional. The food is always great.
Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. Loved the filet mignon and my husband loved the crepe dessert.
Had great special Father’s Day brunch. Good choices in all courses but must admit, missed KPie but strawberry crepe a good second!!
The Father's Day menu was the least impressive experience I've ever had here. Popovers claimed to be fresh were either held in a warmer too long or prepared the day before - stale and shockingly dried out. The scant amount of breakfast potatoes were burned. 6oz fillet, 1 egg, 1/4c of potatoes, salad & dessert = $42. The best parts - salad & dessert. What happened to Paulette's quality?
Excellent Fathers Day Brunch
We call Saturday night “Date night” even though we are married. It’s our favorite place to enjoy a great meal, good wine and relax!
Alan is the very best at taking care of us and we always look forward to seeing him.
We are extremely lucky to have them in the neighborhood and I can’t say enough great things about them!
Good food. Servers not well trained at clearing a course before serving the next. Not good at replacing silverware per each course. Very friendly staff though
Had dinner downstairs in restaurant. I had the red fish & my husband had the filet. Both were delicious, as were our salads & cocktails. Service great as well. Then we went up to the roof area for a cocktail and enjoyed ourselves there as well, but clearly a different level of service. I am thinking this may be why there are varied reviews. Loved Paulettes!
I was not seated appropriately. My reservation was for main seating but the hostess acted as if we did not have reservation and placed us at inappropriate table in the small bar area. The bartender was very helpful in relocating us to a new table but it was at the entrance of the restaurant and there was a lot of traffic considering we were the only customers in site except for one other party of four. I felt like we were an inconvenience. I had confirmed our reservation the day before with the actual restaurant. The waitress Anastasia wears excellent. She was nice, helpful, courteous, and efficient.
It was my first time at Paulette's and it was amazinggg!
Dine at Paulette’s regularly. Have never been disappointed. Service, food, and atmosphere all are outstanding.
Nice spot for a romantic dinner. Paulette's has a long reputation of fresh quality French cuisine. The river scenery just tops it off!
One of my favorite restaurants in Memphis. Excellent food and service
Had a wonderful birthday dinner, can't wait to go back.
