Pattigeorge's Restaurant - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Without warning or notice this was their lay night to serve. They had sold the restaurant only giving their workers 2 days notice. Unacceptable. Food was bottoms of barrel, air conditioning did not work, food take twice the normal time to arrive, was not what we ordered but we were afraid if we sent back 3 out of 4 meals we would never see them again.
If the owners ever try to open another restaurant I will share how they ended this run with no class or consideration for customers or staff.
We had a very nice dinner overlooking Sarasota Bay off of Long Boat Key. Their Caesar salad is different, refreshing. It comes with a few slices of grapefruit and orange and some pine nuts sprinkled in. The truffle fries were delicious. I had the shiitake and asparagus risotto with shrimp and lobster and my wife had the chicken stir fry with vegetables and fresh-pineapple in a ginger soy sauce with a hint of heat left on your tongue. It was very good. You should try this neighborhood gem. The wait staff is very friendly!
We were given a table in the southeast corner of the dining room. We found the only air moving there occurred when a waiter was rushing by to go to another table. As we walked in and out, it seemed the air-conditioning was working but it didn't get to the southeast corner and it was stifling where we were sitting.
The noise level was atrocious. It was impossible to carry on a conversation due to the din in the dining room.
The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and our waiter consistently appeared only after becoming long, long overdue.
Between the heat and the noise, I paid little attention to the food: I just wanted to get out of there. I would not go back - ever.
Worst meal we've ever had! Gathered with friends that we hadn't seen in years and all 7 of us ordered different meals. Every meal was horrible. All but one of us ate less than half of our meals and the waitress never questioned why. Extremely overpriced. Will never return nor recommend to others.
Our meal was wonderful.
Our waiter left something to be desired as he tossed the remainder of my dinner which I had asked to have saved. He was able to salvage the piece of Filet Mignon that was leftover, but my Au Gratin potatoes and asparagus ended up in the garbage.
Additionally, my initial glass of Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignone, poured from a small carafe, was much too warm and several drops did not make it into my glass. I would have preferred that the mini-carafe be left for me to pour. I then could have asked for some ice to place the carafe into.
Dessert was outstanding as my wife and I split a piece of Key Lime pie.
The temperature inside the restaurant was also too warm for my New England blood.
We've dined at PG's for about 10 years now and it is still quite good. The only reason why we rated it a little lower was due to the service. Nothing bad, but we were not greeted at the front very enthusiastically by the hostess and our waiter seemed a little "spacey". They did mess up one order in our party but quickly fixed it. I hate to not give this place 5 stars but for 5 stars everything needs to be perfect and it wasn't. Good food there includes the lobster, tuna, steaks and salads. The ahi tacos were great too.
Fab view, saw dolphins cruising by, we had a window table.
Food was mediocre this time. I had the mussels which were good, the paella was watery and lacked flavor. The calamari was tasteless, batter light but lacked a crisp texture.. Great bread and olive oil though. Great smiley waitress but she had quite a few tables to please. Coconut Cream Pie was outstanding.
The food here is delicious, especially the miso glazed Chilean Sea Bass. The view is beautiful, overlooking the Sarasota bay and it can be seen from almost every spot in the restaurant. My one complaint is that considering the prices (and the food is worth every penny), I feel service should match the prices. Plates were not served from the correct side but passed across the table. And for high end prices, I expect a table cloth, not paper on top of the table cloth. Aside from these two details, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its delicious food. We will be back!
We enjoyed great, well-priced cocktails on arrival. Extremely knowledgable and friendly bartender-highlight of the night. Our table, by the window, was fantastic, fabulous views of the bay. Then the food arrived. We shared an appetizer-recommended by the server-supposed to be lobster and crab roll. It arrived with at least 3 times the amount of rice needed-so much the meat was completely lost. Then entrees- the friedlobster tails were extremely good, but the black grouper was not. Although accompanied by a lovely green curry sauce, the fish was well past its sell date! The odor of ammonia from the bad fish overpowered even the spicy curry. This place needs a serious new look at quality control from a qualified executive chef. The overall menu is original and ambitious, but the execution is lacking.
Beautiful scenic view of Sarasota Bay. Very enticing, eclectic menu. I wanted some of everything. Tuna tacos nice version of fresh tuna. Seafood and saffron rice was full of fish and shrimp (but why do they leave the tails on?). It and the fettuccine pad thai were just different enough to be recognizable yet new and different. Correct service. Will definitely be back.
We often find ourselves on Longboat Key at the time of my husband's birthday and this is the only place he wants to go for his special dinner. Might be nice to have outdoor seating, but the many windows offer a great view of the bay, and we almost feel that we are dining al fresco.
The food is always great, service is attentive. It might have been a bit slow for some people, but as we were there for the special occasion, we appreciated the a relaxing experience.
The food was delicious, and well presented. There aren't very many chicken entrees, and nothing vegetarian unless you ask them to make something special, which they did. I don't eat seafood so it was a bit of a challenge. The pineapple chicken was excellent and I would order it again. Service was good and our waiter was very polite but The kitchen seemed slow; we waited forth-five minutes for our dinner, but fortunately we weren't in a hurry. I'd go back. It's a good place.
The best thing about the ambience is the lovely view of the bay. The menu is varied and mostly delicious It is usually busy and noisy. However , there is a raised area where the decibel level is less than the main level and the servers are very competent A nice place for a special occasion as the prices are not at the lower end!
We went to 6 different restaurants during our vacation trip to Longboat Key. Almost all were similarly priced ($80-$100 for party of two with one drink each), and PattiGeorge was the best! Wonderful ambiance with spectacular canal view, delicious Asian inspired gourmet cuisine (wanted to order just about everything on the menu), beautiful presentation, attentive service, and reservations are honored on time. Try the Thai chicken salad as an appetizer, or go have it for lunch.
Our dining experience was wonderful. Our waiter, Bob was very efficient and entertaining. Please thank him for us that he made our night out very enjoyable. The view added to the ambience since it was a different scene than most nights due to the very heavy fog. The highlight of the evening was the delicious entrees with the delectable wines which accompanied the meal. Overall, a great evening.
