Without warning or notice this was their lay night to serve. They had sold the restaurant only giving their workers 2 days notice. Unacceptable. Food was bottoms of barrel, air conditioning did not work, food take twice the normal time to arrive, was not what we ordered but we were afraid if we sent back 3 out of 4 meals we would never see them again.
If the owners ever try to open another restaurant I will share how they ended this run with no class or consideration for customers or staff.
This restaurant closed for business on Saturday, June 25. It has been sold to the Columbia Restaurant group and will reopen after extensive remodeling under new ownership and new name.
It's a good thing they permanently closed the next day!
We had a very nice dinner overlooking Sarasota Bay off of Long Boat Key. Their Caesar salad is different, refreshing. It comes with a few slices of grapefruit and orange and some pine nuts sprinkled in. The truffle fries were delicious. I had the shiitake and asparagus risotto with shrimp and lobster and my wife had the chicken stir fry with vegetables and fresh-pineapple in a ginger soy sauce with a hint of heat left on your tongue. It was very good. You should try this neighborhood gem. The wait staff is very friendly!
place great in so many ways but very disappointed in the response from concierge regarding seating.
One of our favorite dining places in Sarasota. Pleasant staff, grate bar, food, location, etc. Highly recommend to all that are okay with spending for upscale dining adventures.
We were given a table in the southeast corner of the dining room. We found the only air moving there occurred when a waiter was rushing by to go to another table. As we walked in and out, it seemed the air-conditioning was working but it didn't get to the southeast corner and it was stifling where we were sitting.
The noise level was atrocious. It was impossible to carry on a conversation due to the din in the dining room.
The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and our waiter consistently appeared only after becoming long, long overdue.
Between the heat and the noise, I paid little attention to the food: I just wanted to get out of there. I would not go back - ever.
The food is innovative and delicious, and the service is excellent. The beautiful view over Sarasota Bay is a delightful accompanyment to the meal.
Worst meal we've ever had! Gathered with friends that we hadn't seen in years and all 7 of us ordered different meals. Every meal was horrible. All but one of us ate less than half of our meals and the waitress never questioned why. Extremely overpriced. Will never return nor recommend to others.
Great experience as always, but they have eliminated pizza from the menu, so there is not much for teens or children other than regular dinner items.
Our meal was wonderful.
Our waiter left something to be desired as he tossed the remainder of my dinner which I had asked to have saved. He was able to salvage the piece of Filet Mignon that was leftover, but my Au Gratin potatoes and asparagus ended up in the garbage.
Additionally, my initial glass of Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignone, poured from a small carafe, was much too warm and several drops did not make it into my glass. I would have preferred that the mini-carafe be left for me to pour. I then could have asked for some ice to place the carafe into.
Dessert was outstanding as my wife and I split a piece of Key Lime pie.
The temperature inside the restaurant was also too warm for my New England blood.
We've dined at PG's for about 10 years now and it is still quite good. The only reason why we rated it a little lower was due to the service. Nothing bad, but we were not greeted at the front very enthusiastically by the hostess and our waiter seemed a little "spacey". They did mess up one order in our party but quickly fixed it. I hate to not give this place 5 stars but for 5 stars everything needs to be perfect and it wasn't. Good food there includes the lobster, tuna, steaks and salads. The ahi tacos were great too.
Was seated at my reserved table and was moved to a window with a waterview. The food was outstanding. The evening was wonderful and made a great Mother's Day dinner
The 3 of us had 3 different seafood dishes & all were tastefully prepared & presented.
The side of their special hashed brussel sprouts is always a treat!
Went to this beautiful little spot sight unseen and it was a great choice. Very interesting menu with choices falling into many genres. Tempora fried lobster tails! This place was well worth the price of admission. If you are in Longboat it's a must. The staff was greta and the food was better!
Haven't visited in several years but will definitely go back.
Fab view, saw dolphins cruising by, we had a window table.
Food was mediocre this time. I had the mussels which were good, the paella was watery and lacked flavor. The calamari was tasteless, batter light but lacked a crisp texture.. Great bread and olive oil though. Great smiley waitress but she had quite a few tables to please. Coconut Cream Pie was outstanding.
Great view. This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. The first time the food was wonderful, but this time it was less than mediocre.
The restaurant was very quiet the night we were there. The views are beautiful, the food was very good, but the service was not up to the standards of the food. It felt like he had not been well trained. He was pleasant, but not efficient.
The food here is delicious, especially the miso glazed Chilean Sea Bass. The view is beautiful, overlooking the Sarasota bay and it can be seen from almost every spot in the restaurant. My one complaint is that considering the prices (and the food is worth every penny), I feel service should match the prices. Plates were not served from the correct side but passed across the table. And for high end prices, I expect a table cloth, not paper on top of the table cloth. Aside from these two details, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its delicious food. We will be back!
The dining pleasure here is usually outstanding / however needs to perfect miso Chilran seabass
We enjoyed great, well-priced cocktails on arrival. Extremely knowledgable and friendly bartender-highlight of the night. Our table, by the window, was fantastic, fabulous views of the bay. Then the food arrived. We shared an appetizer-recommended by the server-supposed to be lobster and crab roll. It arrived with at least 3 times the amount of rice needed-so much the meat was completely lost. Then entrees- the friedlobster tails were extremely good, but the black grouper was not. Although accompanied by a lovely green curry sauce, the fish was well past its sell date! The odor of ammonia from the bad fish overpowered even the spicy curry. This place needs a serious new look at quality control from a qualified executive chef. The overall menu is original and ambitious, but the execution is lacking.
Beautiful scenic view of Sarasota Bay. Very enticing, eclectic menu. I wanted some of everything. Tuna tacos nice version of fresh tuna. Seafood and saffron rice was full of fish and shrimp (but why do they leave the tails on?). It and the fettuccine pad thai were just different enough to be recognizable yet new and different. Correct service. Will definitely be back.
Exceptional View, and very good food. The portion size was quite generous, and the skill of the chef was notable. ...all in a beautiful setting over looking the Sarasota Bay.
Great view, great food and great service. What more could you ask for? Menu has a variety from Asian to seafood to steak. I had crispy chicken and veggies and my companion had shrimp and lobster risotto. We both loved our meals.
We often find ourselves on Longboat Key at the time of my husband's birthday and this is the only place he wants to go for his special dinner. Might be nice to have outdoor seating, but the many windows offer a great view of the bay, and we almost feel that we are dining al fresco.
The food is always great, service is attentive. It might have been a bit slow for some people, but as we were there for the special occasion, we appreciated the a relaxing experience.
The food was delicious, and well presented. There aren't very many chicken entrees, and nothing vegetarian unless you ask them to make something special, which they did. I don't eat seafood so it was a bit of a challenge. The pineapple chicken was excellent and I would order it again. Service was good and our waiter was very polite but The kitchen seemed slow; we waited forth-five minutes for our dinner, but fortunately we weren't in a hurry. I'd go back. It's a good place.
Good food. Online menu did not match onsite.
Location and dinning view
Took my wife there for her birthday. Surprised that no one I knew had recommended it. Terrific seafood, beautiful view. Service a little slow from the kitchen, but we weren't in a hurry.
The best thing about the ambience is the lovely view of the bay. The menu is varied and mostly delicious It is usually busy and noisy. However , there is a raised area where the decibel level is less than the main level and the servers are very competent A nice place for a special occasion as the prices are not at the lower end!
Except for the noise level, we couldn't have asked for a better evening c
We went to 6 different restaurants during our vacation trip to Longboat Key. Almost all were similarly priced ($80-$100 for party of two with one drink each), and PattiGeorge was the best! Wonderful ambiance with spectacular canal view, delicious Asian inspired gourmet cuisine (wanted to order just about everything on the menu), beautiful presentation, attentive service, and reservations are honored on time. Try the Thai chicken salad as an appetizer, or go have it for lunch.
Our meals included mussels, curry sea bass, tuna prepared rare, and maui maui. They were all perfect along with the accompaniments. Can't wait to go back!
We think this is the best restaurant in Longboat Key. The food is excellent and it is directly on Sarasota Bay and very scenic.
Delicious food but noisy. Great waitor but service a bit slow.
Service was indifferent and lacked any kind of training you would expect. Food was just above average.
Our dining experience was wonderful. Our waiter, Bob was very efficient and entertaining. Please thank him for us that he made our night out very enjoyable. The view added to the ambience since it was a different scene than most nights due to the very heavy fog. The highlight of the evening was the delicious entrees with the delectable wines which accompanied the meal. Overall, a great evening.
Yet another great meal. The tuna tacos appetizer are fantastic.
Ambivance very good. Service excellent.
Food . Marginal for the price. Two fish dishes very overcooked. Waiter was excellent.
