Pastiche Modern Eatery Ratings and Reviews
The place is pleasant for a conversation with our friends, not to much noise.
The waiter was very attentive and was efficient and well informed to the menu .the petit tenderloin was generous and the lamb chops cooked well I think the peppercorn coating overwhelmed it a bit so maybe a different preparation would be more successful.
overal a good meal and the right ambiance.
It was amazing to find a relatively quiet and comfortable new years eve dinner experience. Service was excellent, timing and delivery of courses spot on. Our party included a child and the waiter was able to keep the food items coming such that our young guest was happy and never felt left out. Food was prepared perfectly including prime rib - rare, New York strip medium rare and duck breast - as the chef determined - perfect medium. Veggies were al dente and delicious. All was excellent on this busy evening.
Went there Christmas Day for dinner. Our overall experience was good considering how busy they were and the amount food that had to be served. We were seated within five to ten minutes of our arrival, our food was served in a reasonable amount of time and the prime rib was very good and reasonably priced.
My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner on Christmas evening and waited approximately 1-1/2 hours for our food. While we did order salads, we noticed that other diners who came in later than us received their meals before us and that may have been the holdup. However, the restaurant wasn't taking walk-in traffic so you would think they knew how many people they were going to serve. I was also supposed to get mashed potatoes with my meal but instead received quartered, boiled potatoes which were cold. Food quality was average and virtually all of the entrees had some sort of sauce. I'm not sure we'll go back.
We dined at Pastiche for 2017 Christmas dinner. We were politely and promptly seated as soon as we arrived. Our server was very attentive and we did not have to wait to order. The food arrived very quickly and the recommendations were spot on!. We will definitely eat here again.
We ate at Pastiche on Christmas evening. The holiday menu options were suitable for us as vegetarians, not to mention delicious. While the restaurant was crowded due to the holiday, we still received good service, and never felt rushed out of our table. Definitely make reservations if you go on a holiday, though -- we saw several disappointed people being turned away.
Love everything about Pastiche. The food, the server's attention, the welcoming atmosphere from the owners...this is the way a restaurant should be run. We have come for our anniversary, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And we will return on a regular basis. A++ Pastiche. You're the best!
We have been to Pastiche many times and it just seems to get better. It might be the nicest decorated restaurant in Tucson, full of color and nice prints. The Christmas menu was spectacular, and the southwestern turkey dinner was the hit if the day. The salads were fresh and fully of healthy veggies. The sea scallops were also a bit hit. A great time was had by our party.
We went to Pastiche for Christmas Eve dinner. I had the fish while my companions had the mac & cheese. The fish was spectacular, but the mac & cheese was divine -- truly one of the specialties of the house. The staff was attentive and accommodating on a night when they were probably 2 or 3 employees short. The owners came by to ask us about our meal and ensure we had an enjoyable and delicious evening.
We were seated near the kitchen entrance which has a blind corner. We heard "corner" every time a waiter came to the kitchen. A minor inconvenience but one that could be remedied with a mirror.
Overall, a great dinner -- good food, good wine, good service.
We really enjoyed the Christmas Eve dinner. Hush Puppies were tasty and sharable. My husband really liked the Duck special - finished every bite! I enjoyed 1/2 my shrimp pasta, thus saving room for dessert - delicious chocolate mousse cake. y husband also found room for their special cheese cake - which even included a cannoli on top. A couple nice glasses of wine finished this lovely meal. Good size portions helped us continue to enjoy this restaurant we have visited over many years. Still well worth visiting!!
The service, food, and ambience we all good at this restaurant. A “modern eatery” should recognize that many people are becoming vegan and offer some vegan menu items. However, I applaud that the waiter and chef were willing to substitute a marinara sauce on my pumpkin ravioli for a champagne cream sauce.
Attended the first cocktail pairing dinner. It was exceptional. Delicious salad, main course and dessert. The pairings were different from anything I've ever had. Using local offerings was creative and fun. Colin entertained with his enthusiasm and information! We will look forward to another pairing at Pastiche!
We have been to this restaurant many times and always had a great experience, but not this last time. We had dinner with another couple and had 6 pm reservation. We did get seated at 6pm and a waitress came over and said she will be right with us. It took about 15 minutes for her to come back and she told us the specials for the night. Then another waitress come over to tell us about the specials also. We said we all ready heard them and ordered two bottles of wine. The second waitress came back with the wine and didn't know how to open the bottles. Finally she said she was going to see her manager to open the red wine. She came back with the open bottle and wanted to take our order even though we hadn't had a sip of wine yet. But we ordered anyway. We weren't in any hurry but did notice all the customers who came in after us were getting there meals and some ate and left while we were still waiting. All four of us thought they some how forgot our order. It took over an hour for us to finally get our meals and both waitresses came over and apologized for the delay and one waitress said she would buy us dessert. I think the problem was one waitress wasn't telling the other what was going on. The food was very delicious as usual. As for the dessert we never heard about it again. That was okay since all four of us didn't want any since we were full from our meals. As I said we have been there many times and will continue to have dinner there. Maybe one of the waitresses was new to the job and needed to be trained a little better.
Was very disappointed with my experience after hearing more positive comments from older friends. I think the food and decor has not kept up with the audiences and other offerings at other restaurants. Decor and menu seemed very dated.
The service was good. About three staff members worked in tandem to make sure our table was taken care of. My mahi mahi was disappointing. It was chewy. My husband ordered a medium well burger that was actually medium rare, and my son ordered a medium rare steak that was cooked at medium well. The desserts were great. We will not go back.
We have been coming to Pastiche for the last three Thanksgiving Holiday.
The food and ambiance was very good as it has been for the last three years.
However, I had to rate the service very poor.
Our waiter was very polite but the service he provided was not.
To start, all the tables around us got bread, we did not.
Then I had to ask two people for lemon for my water, my waiter included, but never received any.
Then I asked for some more Cranberry sauce for my Thanksgiving Turkey meal and never received it.
When we ordered desert, my friend ordered a Capacino, and I, a regular coffee.
Our waiter returned a few minutes later and said the espresso machine was being temperamental therefore there would be no Capacino tonight. This was right after the table next to us received two espressos. Also, I never got my coffee.
As has been tradition for the last three years of coming to Pastiche for Thanksgiving dinner, anyone who ordered the Turkey Meal received a box of leftovers to go with the Thanksgiving tradition. Alas, I never received my leftovers on the way out.
I am disappointed in the lack of finesse this evening.
Thanksgiving Dinner: we were very happy with Thanksgiving Dinner at Pastiche! The restaurant was full, noise level was still not too bad and the service was efficient and calm. The menu was excellent, with three of us having the traditional turkey dinner and two having mac and cheese (without bacon) and rack of lamb. The rack of lamb was superb and we were told it is on the regular menu so we will be back to try it again. I would definitely like to have the traditional thanksgiving dinner again too. The Mac'n Cheese member of the party finished it all and said it was tasty. The menu was nice, limited due to the holiday, but still varied and everything we tried was very good. The desert menu included traditional Thanksgiving items and an absolutely wonderful flourless chocolate tort (high marks from our chocoholic)! I would go again on a Holiday and certainly any other time as well. Highly recommend this restaurant for comfort, old-world style, the bar and the food!
We were there for Thanksgiving. My reservation was for a high table (only thing listed that was available) but when we arrived we were seated at a regular table, which we preferred. The service was outstanding and the Southwest Thanksgiving meal was very good. I would go there again for a holiday meal instead of cooking at home. Nice, relaxed day.
Always a comfortable environment to share a conversation without yelling, a simple, but delicious menu to choose from, lovely owners that are on site and greet everyone with a smile and passion for quality service, and reasonable priced! Highly recommended.
We found Pastiche Modern Eatery through Open Table and have been back many times. We have never been disappointed, The service is great as is the food. Many times we have "lingered" with friends to visit and finish conversations. I highly recommend Pastiche!
Pastiche has been a Tucson mainstay for years, and it remains a good dining choice before or after sporting events at our nearby university. The menu has old standards and nightly specials, and the "bistro" portion is a great option for lighter appetites.
The service was cheerful but surprisingly slow. I would not hold this against a locale that is generally spot on though.
