Pastiche Modern Eatery Ratings and Reviews
Took our daughter out to dinner while visiting her at UofA. This place popped up on yelp, so we gave it a try. The food was good but the service was great. We started with the deep fried avocado & it was really good especiallythe dipping sauce. It’s a must try if you’ve never had it before. I had the short rib special and had a special request. The server accommodated my request and even suggested a better alternative. My husband had the macadamia crusted fish & it was good. My daughter got the hamburger which was also good. We will definitely be back. The Resturant decor was extremely out dated but that had no baring on the food or service since it was clean and kept up. We noticed the bar on the way out and it was huge. We ate early so it was not busy, loud or any waiting.
My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. I have Celiac disease and I ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly and I did not get sick. The owner, Costas, came and talked to us for a bit and he was very friendly. They did have televisions at the bar which I think ruined the ambiance, although I understand that they may be useful during happy hour and events, they didn't need to be on during Valentine's Day. All in all it was a good, if pricey, dinner.
We shared the salmon with bourbon sauce. It was good, but the salmon was a bit over done. The restaurant was packed with U of AZ basketball fans right before a game. However, the noise level was surprisingly low! Service was understandably a bit slow as everyone came at the same time and starting heading to the game at about the same time!
Our server was very good and attentive. The ambiance was also good. Surprisingly the noise level at the time we arrived was not bad for such a large space. Of the two entrees my spouse and I had, I have to say they were mediocre. I ordered the ribs, and they were so tough I couldn't finish them. My spouse ordered the chicken, and it was ok, but not great. This is a great bar place with a wonderful selection of liquors and wine, but the food is just so-so. I wouldn't go back.
We were there for my birthday celebration. It was wonderful! The entrees were delicious, the wine excellent, and the dessert -vanilla caramel crunch cake - to die for. But best of all was the service. It was outstanding. It made for a lovely way to celebrate another year older.
Not sure why this place is rated so high, it feels extremely dated too. Food was mediocre, and others just not very good. Our server was also just alright, and took much better care of his friends than he did us, so much better that we ended up skipping desert and asking for the check. As a former server I would never put my friends/family before customers while on the clock thats just a NO.
As always the food was very good and very well priced. It is a restaurant we frequent several times a year.
I have 2 concerns however. One, we were seated in a booth and the vinyl seat cushion was cracked and extremely unpleasant to look at and to sit on.
Second, when we entered the restaurant a man lightly put his hand around the upper part of my arm. Upon asking I was told he was the owner. If he ever does that to me again I will immediately leave the restaurant. Keep your hands to yourself!
The place is pleasant for a conversation with our friends, not to much noise.
The waiter was very attentive and was efficient and well informed to the menu .the petit tenderloin was generous and the lamb chops cooked well I think the peppercorn coating overwhelmed it a bit so maybe a different preparation would be more successful.
overal a good meal and the right ambiance.
It was amazing to find a relatively quiet and comfortable new years eve dinner experience. Service was excellent, timing and delivery of courses spot on. Our party included a child and the waiter was able to keep the food items coming such that our young guest was happy and never felt left out. Food was prepared perfectly including prime rib - rare, New York strip medium rare and duck breast - as the chef determined - perfect medium. Veggies were al dente and delicious. All was excellent on this busy evening.
Went there Christmas Day for dinner. Our overall experience was good considering how busy they were and the amount food that had to be served. We were seated within five to ten minutes of our arrival, our food was served in a reasonable amount of time and the prime rib was very good and reasonably priced.
My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner on Christmas evening and waited approximately 1-1/2 hours for our food. While we did order salads, we noticed that other diners who came in later than us received their meals before us and that may have been the holdup. However, the restaurant wasn't taking walk-in traffic so you would think they knew how many people they were going to serve. I was also supposed to get mashed potatoes with my meal but instead received quartered, boiled potatoes which were cold. Food quality was average and virtually all of the entrees had some sort of sauce. I'm not sure we'll go back.
We dined at Pastiche for 2017 Christmas dinner. We were politely and promptly seated as soon as we arrived. Our server was very attentive and we did not have to wait to order. The food arrived very quickly and the recommendations were spot on!. We will definitely eat here again.
We ate at Pastiche on Christmas evening. The holiday menu options were suitable for us as vegetarians, not to mention delicious. While the restaurant was crowded due to the holiday, we still received good service, and never felt rushed out of our table. Definitely make reservations if you go on a holiday, though -- we saw several disappointed people being turned away.
Love everything about Pastiche. The food, the server's attention, the welcoming atmosphere from the owners...this is the way a restaurant should be run. We have come for our anniversary, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And we will return on a regular basis. A++ Pastiche. You're the best!
We have been to Pastiche many times and it just seems to get better. It might be the nicest decorated restaurant in Tucson, full of color and nice prints. The Christmas menu was spectacular, and the southwestern turkey dinner was the hit if the day. The salads were fresh and fully of healthy veggies. The sea scallops were also a bit hit. A great time was had by our party.
We went to Pastiche for Christmas Eve dinner. I had the fish while my companions had the mac & cheese. The fish was spectacular, but the mac & cheese was divine -- truly one of the specialties of the house. The staff was attentive and accommodating on a night when they were probably 2 or 3 employees short. The owners came by to ask us about our meal and ensure we had an enjoyable and delicious evening.
We were seated near the kitchen entrance which has a blind corner. We heard "corner" every time a waiter came to the kitchen. A minor inconvenience but one that could be remedied with a mirror.
Overall, a great dinner -- good food, good wine, good service.
We really enjoyed the Christmas Eve dinner. Hush Puppies were tasty and sharable. My husband really liked the Duck special - finished every bite! I enjoyed 1/2 my shrimp pasta, thus saving room for dessert - delicious chocolate mousse cake. y husband also found room for their special cheese cake - which even included a cannoli on top. A couple nice glasses of wine finished this lovely meal. Good size portions helped us continue to enjoy this restaurant we have visited over many years. Still well worth visiting!!
The service, food, and ambience we all good at this restaurant. A “modern eatery” should recognize that many people are becoming vegan and offer some vegan menu items. However, I applaud that the waiter and chef were willing to substitute a marinara sauce on my pumpkin ravioli for a champagne cream sauce.
