Excellent food and a gracious waiter!
The food at Pasta Moon wonderful! wonderful! I note several areas available for large groups that would be great.
A family favorite, Pasta Moon offers excellent choices for both our teenage, vegetarian daughter and our pre teen, serious carnivore son.The lemon parfait is particularly amazing!
Food was fantastic. We were there early which was quiet but the noise level picked up a bit later. Tables seemed to be a little closer together which could contribute to the noise factor.
Service was awkward, slow, and invasive. Every time I tried to talk with my boyfriend, the waiter would keep popping up, saying he would have our food in just a second (all he said to us the entire time). He must have said this for our entrees, appetizers, and wine at least 3 times each. He also asked if I wanted pepper for our salad, then came back about ten minutes later saying someone must have taken his. During this ten minutes he did not look once, but was taking other peoples orders and serving other tables. The pasta was decent, the bread was barely so, and the best part about our meal was the salad (with no pepper). The only redeeming quality was their local produce.
Normally our favorite bistro, Pasta Moon had an off night! Our glasses of wine had vastly diff amounts...Mine had 1/2" less than husband's. Other issues too...don't want to diss them since they try hard and are normally great. We will come back, food is usually so good but this night came up short. :(
It was fantastic as always. They consistently make some of the best Italian food in our area. They have the nicest servers & everything comes quickly. And it gorgeous to drive over to Half Moon Bay!
I go to Pasta Moon twice a year - 2 of us celebrate each other's birthday by going to lunch and we love this restaurant so much we decided to go here every year rather than any other restaurant. They continue to provide excellent dishes and vary it by the season - I love Nov when they always have one pumpkin dish on the menu. We shared the pear gorgonzola salad, tempura-battered pumpkin with applesauce dip (very tasty), and very thin crust pizza with figs, cheese and prosciutto - was so good it tasted like a dessert! The service is the best - very attentive but not rushed. The dinners are even more amazing - a must-go-to restaurant and very deserving of the high ratings they continue to receive.
Always a good place to dine with friends and family.
This restaurant is lovely and has a very friendly and attentive staff. We enjoyed our meals, and the sunny front room where we dined was warm and pleasant with beautiful decor.
Pasta Moon's list and knowledge of Italian wines is exceptional even in the Bay Area.
P-Moon is always outstanding. I have eaten here easily a dozen times and I have yet to find anything on the menu or in the ever revolving specials that I don't love. Ambiance is quaint and almost rustic with the bare wood floors and old building this fantastic restaurant resides in. The bartender can make anything you ask for and can even remake house favorites from other restaurants. One of my favorites and well worth the short drive from my new home in Belmont.
We have been before and wanted to go back. The pasta is all homemade and very tasty. The lasagna was enornous, bring a friend! If you are in or around Half Moon Bay and you want Italian, you have to stop and try Pasta Moon.
too many crying children seated in our immediate area interfered greatly with this lunch date intended as a special occasion birthday
celebration for an out of town guest. Very disappointing service and experience.
This restaurant is always a satisfying experience. They know their pasta. Actually, they know what they're doing with everything on their menu.
We ate a butternut squash ravioli and the fish special and both were outstanding. We also had a side of their brussel sprouts dish and their meyer lemon dessert. Everything was superb. We'll be back.
High prices, food is ordinary, not outstanding. Service is very professional. Wine list is extensive and pricey. Decor is elegant.
For the last five years we always have lunch at Pasta Moon when we go to the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival. Always a great lunch; always great service.
Very nice place, but leave the kids at home. We came to Half Moon Bay for the Pumpkin Festival and had heard from many friends that we had to try this place. Since it was the Pumpkin Festival, we had our 4 year old daughter, and figured, everywhere has a kid menu. I guess I was wrong. Although she loved the Bolgnese and they were very accomodating, it would be better not to bring the kids.
Always good, it was a slow night, and the service was not very quick at all. We ordered two glasses of wine and waited more then 12 minutes before they were served, not sure why, we could not see what the hold up was.
The pasta dishes we had were excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is extensive, but seems to be overpriced in comparison to the menu prices.
Fourth time there. Never disappointed. Great food and service.
The Walu special was absolutely delicious. My husband and I love Pasta Moon.
Portion size for seafood spaghetti was small.
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Not fancy, not pretentious. Just consistent and very good. I have a set routine when I go to pasta moon. I get a flat brick oven pizza as an appetizer for two, then I have the lasagna (among the best anywhere), then the butterscotch pudding. Anytime I am close to Half Moon Bay, I go here.
Food was great but noise level a bit too high to maintain a normal conversation with my guests.
This is our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area.
Pasta Moon has been consistently high quality for the ten years I have been going there. The pizzas and pastas are great. The ingredients are of high quality. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
Great place ---very good food----they seem to have everything you might want in a stylish restaurant ---price seemed reasonable for the type of restaurant this is -------
A great experience all around. We shall go back.
Simply amazing. Lasagna done to perfection.
Celebrated a special anniversary. We were greeted by name at the door and treated to a window seat and a glass of champagne upon arrival. Wow, top notch. The meal and service were superb!
Wonderful place on the main street of Half Moon Bay. Food is always excellent but this time the service was less than acceptable. Our server seemed distracted and uninterested in offering us quality assistance. We were able to measure this by the speed with which others were served, including much larger parties. This wouldn't keep us from returning but it was a disappointment.
The farmers market salad was delicious!
We visit the area regularly due to our daughter and her family living in the City. This time we were on a bicycle ride from OR to Haff Moon Bay. We had a marginal experience due to the waiter's attitude at first. My son in law found a crayon in his Caesar salad and when he brought it to the waiter's attentiion, he took the salad and told Buck that he would definitely NOT be bringing him another salad. He later relented aftert I talked to him and took some positive steps, but he seemed disjointed throughout the experience. WE have eaten her on several occaions and may again, but not for a while.
We were celebrating our granddaugher's birthday and her parent's anniversary. I can guarantee that they will not be back.
We brought a guest who had never been to Pasta Moon and I think the lasagna has converted him to a regular. One never can go wrong with a pasta dish. Starters like either the beet or grilled peach salads are innovative and a welcome change from a regular green salad. We always save room for dessert - but the question is which ones as they are all good, but the cheese cake is superb.
Our server was friendly and attentive making for a fun dining experience.
Best food in area...very attentive to special diets...have gluten free pasta.
Excellent food, wonderful service. Our waiter even suggested that we might want to share a salad because it was very big. He was right. A shared peach salad the small serving of lasagna was perfect.
Mussels were a bit overdone but broth was excellent. Pasta was wonderfully fresh and delicious. Bass was a bit over cooked. Nice dining room and cheesecake dessert is very nice. Service was attentive but lacked personality a bit... Too business-like almost.
Dinner was excellent !!! I really enjoyed the veal and my wife sure enjoyed the bolognase. I've already recommended to 3 couples and plan to return on our next visit to HMB.
