Pasta Moon Ratings and Reviews
We love Pasta Moon, making the trip several times a year to enjoy HMB and the fresh local ingredients served up in tasty creative dishes. The lasagna is the best on the Peninsula and the drinks reflect a strong mixologist. One small complaint...they work a bit too hard at having affordable Italian wines. It would be nice to have a few higher quality California selections.
Food was amazing, but service was sub-par. While pleasant, it took 10 or so minutes before we even got water and bread. 5-10 mins later we finally got our order in, which we already knew we wanted from before we got there. We didn't get our salad until 20 mins later, drinks 5 or so mins after that. Then our two pasta dishes didn't come until a good 45 mins after we ordered! Thank goodness the food was delicious, because we would have walked out!
The food is always good here. The service is spotty, sometimes we had to ask several times for water, for the check, for butter for the bread that never came. Staff is constantly buzzing around but seem a little forgetful and too busy to remember the little things. I dislike asking staff for things more than twice so I gave up.
We were lucky enough to be served by Barbara, one of our favorite servers, in the front dining area, also a favorite. We had a terrific meal served with style, friendliness and attention. All meals should be like this. I love the scallop salad with mango, cucumbers, arugula and avocados, while my wife is a big fan of the tagliatelle Bolognese. We paired lunch with a wonderful Arneis. The prices on the wine list are reasonable given the choices available, and the choices indicate that a lot of care has gone into the selections.
I would be remiss not to mention the desserts. All look terrific, but how many places can deliver a chocolate sorbetto with a chocolate dipped strawberry as the finale to a wonderful meal?
Pasta Moon is one of our favorite restaurants, so much so that our children, parents and friends are giving us gift certificates for special occasions. The food is excellent! Our favorite is the linguini pasta with ahi tuna. I'd also highly recommend the butter not squash raviolis! It's beautiful here anytime of the year and so much fun to shop in town after a nice lunch.
This was our 2nd time here and was just as great! Service was excellent, food was fabulous! The lasagna was incredible and a huge serving big enough for at least 2 people. We were 6 people and all our dishes were fabulous. I had the Lemon Parfait for dessert & it was Yummy! We will definitely be regulars at Pasta Moon. I love that they have several different rooms which we were in the back room and had it to ourselves for our birthday celebration. Delicious lemon drop 😄
We loved this place for years before they expanded. Our last experience a year ago was horrible so I was hesitant to return. My husband made the reservation. The pace was less about turning the table and mor about enjoying our time. The server was engaging and charming. The food was excellent! A win.
Pasta Moon has a good selection in its menu, and very good food. Some tables are a little close together, but at least there are barriers so you don't really overhear other tables' conversation. The food in general is on the pricey side, and the prices for wine by the glass are some of the most expensive I recall ever seeing (I didn't get any wine). Our waiter did give very attentive -- but not intrusive -- service.
As always the food was excellent and served in a warm, inviting environment. That said, our waiter was clearly rushed, and a couple of requests needed repeating when the requested items failed to materialize. My wife's branzino was seriously undercooked and the center still very cold, but once re-grilled it was very good.
This is a moderately expensive restaurant which has always been one of our favorites, but on this occasion I must say it underperformed. Hopefully not a trend.
My wife and I were celebrating our 1st anniversary here, which is where we held our wedding reception. Pablo and the rest of the staff were on top of things, Timing was perfect and not hovering. They had our prosecco and the bouquet I had ordered from Alena Jean ready at the table.
The Menu is fantastic, wine list is great.
I highly recommend Pasta Moon for any occasion.
We have been here many times and the food is always fresh and wonderful. But why do they ask if the occasion is special and when you say yes it is they do not acknowledge it? I stated it was my husband's birthday and they didn't even say happy birthday let alone offer anything. That was disappointing.
Always a pleasure to dine there! We all enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. We had to share a lovely dessert because we were all more than content with our meals. They have generous serving sizes and it tastes so delicious, that you just can't help yourself!
From the moment we wslked in to the time we left, girst class service.
Warm greating from our host and she repeated my wife's food allergies so that she could pass them along to our server, Marcos. Marcos grested us and asked if we were familiar with the restaurant, we weren't, so he told us about it and recommended the house made pasta dishes or specials.
Memorable evening and whenever we return to Half Moon Bay we will again dine at Pasta Moon.
I rarely post reviews. We've been going Pasta Moon for I think 25 years, maybe more. We've always considered it one of the SBs nicest restaurants; food, wine. Still have some amazing Italian wine - even by the glass. In the past really well executed, quality cooking. No more. Can't say how disappointed we are in the owner's new format. Clearly a business decision to go for quantity rather than quality. Sad, but time to move on.
