About Pasta Freska
Dinner at Pasta Freska Italian Restaurant is based on Chef Mike Horri's "Have it your way" philosophy! We truly are a unique and fun Seattle restaurant - Chef Mike comes to your table, asks questions, has a little fun and makes sure he delivers a great dining experience. Truly unique Italian comfort food. You won't go away hungry. Do you maybe just want to have one entree and with a salad, you can do that too.
Typically the way our dinner works is start with a salad and appetizer then we are ready to start the dinner, so you should expect to the dinner to last about an hour and a half. You should expect one dish of differents kinds of Pasta, Seafood and chicken.
We do accommodate larger parties as well.

Love the concept of this restaurant, it was just poorly executed. We had 3 different people serving us food, most of the time they could not, or would not, tell us what was in the dish. Plates weren't changed out between courses. There were just two at our table and we each received different things, he got salmon for one course while I got some sort of white fish. The staff was friendly and service was prompt, just hoped for better food and better execution of the courses.
Our group of six had a super time at Pasta Freska. The family style food was great, came out piping hot every time and it kept coming! We had eight courses - all delicious with the exception of the fish which was just so so. Brought our own wine and purchased a nice little Italian bottle at the recommendation of the chef/owner. There's no menu at this restaurant, you just tell the chef what you don't like or won't eat. It's definitely different but a lot of fun.
Pasta Freska is so unique because the cook comes out to talk to you and find out what your food preferences are before the meal. You don't order anything off a menu. It is all selected for you based on what you tell him. There are multiple courses, all of which are delicious! We had a large group which ranged in age from 15 to 58, and dietary requirements going from vegetarian to gluten-free to no shellfish to "we love everything!" all at the same table. It was lots of fun, and everyone was more than satisfied! It is not cheap, though (fixed-price except for drinks and desserts), so having a groupon helps with the expense.
Chef Mike and his staff gave us personal attention and made sure our meal and experience were both fantastic. From the kitchen came course after course of delicious food. Special items were prepared for my wife who cannot eat gluten, soy, dairy, or eggs. This is my favorite place to eat in Seattle.
We had an excellent time and the food was great. It was a unique dining experience at an affordable price. The Owner/Chef customizes the menu after speaking with you about what you like and dislike. Wonderful surprises kept coming to the table throughout the delicious meal. It was adventurous and my teen-aged, very picky eater, really enjoyed the food and experience.
The food was just "good," and worth about half the price. They bring you several courses of protein, followed by pasta, and then dessert. The stuffed chicken marsala was slightly overdone, but the filling and sauce were good. The second course, which was seafood, was a little better, but the white fish was fairly bland and tasted as if it had been thawed before cooking. Although this is just my subjective hunch, if it was frozen, this defeats the purpose of naming a restaurant "fresca." The beef tenderloin was very dry and shriveled. Would not recommend this, it's the only thing I didn't finish during the meal. The pasta bolognese was decent, but not worth the mid-high end prices. It was "cafeteria plus" quality, if that makes any sense.
I took my husband here for his birthday based on reviews from friends. We really enjoyed it.
It is not for the person that doesn't like to be surprised. The waitress swung by to ask if there wasn't anything we didn't like to eat.
My husband doesn't eat poultry. A special ravioli dish was made for him, while a friend and I received chicken marsala, which was delicious.
The service was great, the food was great. The bottle of wine that we ended up with was a little underwhelming. Recommended to make sure they know you only want a glass if they ask you if you would like wine.
Also, if you are on foursquare, there is 50% on your first visit there for one person.
The food was plentiful and very good, but the service was strange. There were six of us and many times we had different food served to each of us during the same course. If you wanted to taste a certain preparation you had to taste from another diner's plate. It was as if they served what was left over in the kitchen - certainly not prepared for our table. When the chef was asked what we were eating, ie, preparation, ingredients, what it was called, he answered with a flip "chicken" and that was it. He missed a great opportuity to share his food skills. Too bad. We won't be going back.
This was my 5th time at Pasta Freska, so I knew what to expect. It's hands down my favorite restaurant in Seattle. I'd be going there a ton more if it was more reasonable to my pocketbook. As usual and as is always the case, there is no menu, and the kitchen will cater to nearly any food preference. Occasionally with larger parties, they'll mistakenly give the meat dish to the non-meat eater, so it's good to ask what's in it if it comes to you. My girlfriend eats gluten and dairy free and they did extremely well, she saying she was VERY impressed. As always, the wine is usually less well known and very outstanding, and the meat and fish cooked to perfection.
Be sure to check out their lunch. 11-2 on Wednesdays only, all you can eat/$8
Held a surprise retirement party for a friend. I am from San Diego and had eaten there once before, so made arrangements with restaurant via phone. They were most accomidating. Guests were surprised that there is no menu, only the question what don't you like. Plates came out that were just excellent. Everyone said (all the others were from the Seattle area) that they would definitely be back. Can't recomment highly enough.
Pasta Freska is different. The owner Mike has developed an 'a la cart' menu pleasing all his guests. His approach is unique in that he gives personal attention to you and your table guests and makes you feel at home. The food is delicious and served in small servings over many courses. Mike matches a good wine with the meal. Go to Pasta Freska if you want to enjoy an evening of delicious food and pleasant dining.
We were first time visitors to this restaurant on a Saturday night. We had a reservation however they were very busy so we were sat 45 minutes late. The staff was friendly and apologized.
There are no menus here and no prices. I found it sort of odd that when we asked for wine, the owner just put a bottle on the table (again no menu or price list). Food was okay however everything tasted the same. Servers (i.e. you dont have just 1) walk around the restaurant and serve you from dishes that look like tin pizza pans. At no point did we have a clue how much we were spending so the bill was a total surprise. For the cost, I would go elsewhere.
I have been wanting to try this place for YEARS and finally got a Groupon and gave it a try. The very charismatic chef comes by to discuss your likes/dislikes and off you go on an adventure. There is no menu and the curses just start coming! I believe we had 8 courses?? I loved the surprise element to it and everything we had was so delicious from mussels in a light curry broth to stuffed chicken breast in a marsala cream sauce. SO SO GOOD! We had lovely attentive service even on a super busy Friday night and even with our Groupon. Loved it. One tip - if chef says "would you like a nice glass of wine" and you only want one glass say so. We said yes not knowing and ended up buying the bottle!
Food and service is outstanding (the delicious food just keeps on coming!) and there's a twist on the traditional restaurant. The owner/chef asks the patrons of any food allegeries and then chooses that night's dishes for you. It is very fun, different and adventerous so come with an open mind and you will find the evening very enjoyable!
This is a really fun different sort of place. You tell the chef what you eat and what you don't eat and they bring you various small plates. I would say there were about 8 different small dishes served. This with a glass of wine, shared dessert, tax and tip came out to about 45 dollars. Though the food isn't delicate, it is fresh, tasty and hearty and I will def be returning. Its nice to not have to think about what to order!
This place was set in a good location, easy parking and quit!
The service was friendly and helpful..5 star service! The decor however for me was a little dark and a bit old fashion..

The food was great and it was quite a different dinning experience. The only disappointing thing is other than the chef briefly asking what your dislikes are, that's about the only interaction with the staff. They were all so busy, we felt a little neglected. I also think it wasa bit pricey for the customer service we'd got. The food quality sure didn't warrant 120 for 2 people. Worth while experience but could use some refining. Pretty much every table was fed the same thing with a couple of extra dishes for the people who don't like seafood. Not the personalized dinner I had expected. The food was great though.
I heard about this place and checked it out online. We went with another couple who I knew would be adventurous in trying something new and different. You can't be a snooty person here. You don't know what's coming. BUT it was VERY fun and VERY tasty! It took about 1 1/2 hours from wine to desert, so have lots to talk about with whoever you go with. Great ambiance.
Easy to drop $100 per couple. Be prepared.

How fun was this! Courses are brought around by servicers, who give servings on everyone's plate (of course, you are asked if there is anything you can't have) It's chef's choice. First we had an eggplant appetizer. Tastes of: salmon cooked perfectly, with a pesto topping, a slice of yummy steak. Several mussels. Garlic cheese bread warm out of the oven. A bowtie pasta dish. Two different chicken preparations to share. All very good. The dessert was a plate with a serving of excellent spumoni, with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, a small slice of an almond cake (very yummy), and a slice of a rich chocolate cake. We went home very happy, and realzied this s a great place for a group!
This was a first visit. The occasion was a special birthday celebration. The Chef came out, introduced himself and asked about food allergies or dislikes. We knew that the menu was the Chef's choice, but were pleasantly surprised by the variety and amount of food. The size of the courses was perfect to allow us to savour each while leaving room for those that followed. No one left hungry. It is not typical for me to review anything and the fact that I would take the time to comment here is an indication of how much we enjoyed this restaurant.
We had an excellent dinner at Pasta Freska. Mike sat us immediately and asked us if we had any food allergies, likes/dislikes, etc. He ordered a bottle of wine for us and we were off! There were several courses of food, the first arrived with 15 minutes or so of us being seated. Each and every course was fantastic - the portion sizes were just right. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner - there was an extra level of relaxation and excitement not having to choose from a menu and having each course be a "surprise".
Word of caution if you are cost conscious, be sure to mention what you'd like to pay for a bottle of wine up front. It worked out fine for us as Mike picked a reasonable bottle ($34). Also - dessert is an extra cost.
The Pasta Freska Experience never disappoints. Introduced new people on this visit and, as always, they loved it. One commented, "it makes me realize how often we pay restaurants for a mediocre meal." Delicious surprises kept coming until we were more than satisfied. The host-selected wines were enjoyed by all. And the kitchen handled significant diet restrictions of one member of our party with ease.
This was our third visit. Its was our 5th aniversary. Their was gaps (over 10 minutes) in our servings. Our first visit was just us two and it was great. The second visit was 3 couples and it was ok. This visit was not good. A couple of times we were told one thing by one server and the other had no idea what we were told. We stayed about 2 hours just to get $100 bill.
The focus is on a parade of food prepared by people who know what they're doing. Sit back and anticipate the next great dish. Don't go here if you are looking for elegance. I will be going back soon, and taking friends, for a first rate casual meal that will leave everyone smiling. I love this place.
We took some friend with us who are world travelors and they said that the food and experience was on of the best they have every had. They made food tailored to our eating needs (Gluten Free) and the gluten free food was the best of all. Since the menu changes every night you could eat there every night-YUM! This is a "must eat" restaurant.
Made reservations but didn't seem to make a difference since they were seating people in the order they can through the door. Wife is a vegetarian and so we were often eating at different times since they would bring a meat item for me, and then later something for my wife. All in all the process seemed a little disorganized as we never really knew what to expect. Food was good, but service was a little iffy. Didn't seem like they had enough staff and everyone was hurried.
Great experience. The owner meets and greets you...........takes you to a table and discusses your meal. There is no menu, just the owner finding you what you like and making a judgement on what to bring you. Food was very good and service friendly and efficient. After several courses we were stuffed but couldn't stop eating.
The owner/chef greets you at your table and asks you what you don't like or can't eat. He then creates a menu for you based on your answers. You have the opportunity to taste many things which makes for a wonderful experience. You never leave hungry. Will enjoy again.
