Our new favorite dinner place in Monterey Bay area! We had the ceviche tostaditas for starters, they were fantastic with just the right amount of a spicy kick! The rockfish with the jicama mint salad was totally delicious and the sea scallops with the risotto was simply superb! And the grand finale of our meal was the mint and Espresso mud pie - just perfect! Great meal and fantastic service!
Service was excellent, food was esquisite, and the overall experience was one I would like to experience again.
The Arctic char was very very good and my girlfriend loved her scallops. It was like everything was perfectly timed from the moment we got out drinks, our appetizer, and our main dishes.
I look forward to the day I get to come back.
Fabulous food, reasonable wine mark up
Great venue with outstanding cuisine and good value. If in Monterey you should not miss dining at Passion Fish
Great time at passionfish. Our server, food, and wine were all spectacular.
My wife and I had received a recommendation from a friend for Passionfish, she had frequented this restaurant while vacationing in Pacific Grove. We made reservations for a Tuesday night while we were staying in the area and were not disappointed in the experience. Our waitress, Candance, was cheerful, helpful and professional in attending to our table. The food was excellent, well presented and a good value. My wife and I could hold a conversation without raising our voices...we had no complaints and will definitely use Passionfish the next time we are in the area.
excellent food (fish); excellent service; excellent value (fully priced)...
Birthday dinner began with various starters - scallop, calamari and asparagus - all brilliant. The Salt Spring Mussels were slightly muddled without the grin, fresh flavor tinged with garlic that make mussels such a delight. Our server was d light Gil and attentive. Rodger Geyserville very well priced at $9 above full retail.
Booked a dinner party for 4 to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. They printed the menu with a Happy Birthday on the top. Thought we would probably get a complementary dessert, but no such luck when the bill came. The food was very tasty but small portions. There were no bread offered at the beginning. Wine was super expensive. Appetizers were just one bite per person. We ordered two. They were good, however. Given the portion of food, it was very expensive for what you get. We came away still feeling hungry. Didn't feel special for our occasion. Definitely felt like we got very little from what we paid for.
The food is lovely. One must go and try when visiting Monterey/Pacific Grove area.
Attentive staff and excellent food. We arrived almost an hour early and they were welcoming and happy to accommodate. The menu is updated frequently, sometimes daily, and focused on fresh and local. They have an extensive wine list, plus a very interesting list of after dinner selections. Passionfish is a great place to dine if you are in the Pacific Grove, CA, region.
Everything was just done in a special way. I had made reservations for two to celebrate our 30th. When we arrived and said our name, the hostess immediately greeted us with her congratulations and took us to a corner table by the window. The waiter Amanda came with a menu that turned out to be customized with a happy anniversary greeting. Amanda and the rest of the staff really made our dinner very special. The food we ordered were all excellent: the fried California squid, 12hr lamb breast, rockfish with jicama-mint salad, Nancy’s buttermilk biscuit are all winners. And for dessert, we had the delicious lemon verbana creme brulee with heavenly passion fruit and mango sauces. It was truly a special meal made possible by caring professional people. Many many thanks again.
a lovely dinner with excellent food and wine! We had a great time.
This is our Special Occasion Restaurant and it never fails us. Not inexpensive but for what you pay you will get the best seafood available on the Monterey Penninsula. Creative flavorful and wonderfully surprising always a remarkable pleasure to eat here.
Excellent food and wine menu!
The food was tasty and beautifully presented, especially the seabass with pomegranate granita appetizer. Our server was very knowledgeable and personable. It was a lovely evening.
Great food and service.
The place was a little fishy since we walked in.
Great food but the place does not look cool. They need to invest in some indoor design. No atmosphere what so ever.
Super seafood mixed with unexpected herbs and vegetables
Great special menu for my wife
Overall superb evening in all respects
Passionfish is the best fish-oriented restaurant in the Monterey Bay area. In fact, it continues to be just a wonderful place and has sustained its deservedly good reputation. The desserts, while good, could be more interesting and the tables are a bit too close together but we understand that is a space issue. The fish and the sauces are truly spectacular and the amazing wine list is a bonus. Service was very attentive and prompt! We love the restaurant!
Simply outstanding. It never lets me down. One of the best and most consistent restaurants in the entire Monterey area.
Good but not great like it used to be. Sad to see the overall quality & service taking a consistent dip toward mediocrity over the last couple years. I assume this is due to the owners not being there much anymore...
As usual - food was great! Service was great! Things were wonderful!
We are living in Monterey for 3 months & having lots of guests! We take every visitor to Passionfish for dinner and everyone has loved it.
First time visiting, will be back! Excellent meal, allergy specific offerings and accommodations, and just plain delicious!
Fantastic! I would love to see passionfish in every city!
Our visit to Passionfish was practically perfect in every way. The service was warm, welcoming and pleasant, the timing of the meal excellent and, above all, every dish we ordered was delicious. Highly recommended.
Very good food with a focus on sustainability. Our entrees were really good.
The service was outstanding as our server went out of her way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. From the custom 'happy birthday' menu to discreetly relocating us away from a very loud table without us even asking, it was first class service.
This was my third visit to Passionfish and I still can't find fault with the service, the food and esp. the wine list.
It was extremely busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, but the host honoured my request for a specific seating section.
Def. hope to return, and before too long.
Yummo! Would fly back across the country for this one! The biscuits are to die for.
The food and service were quite good. The wine list was exceptional. But, the true apex was the biscuit. It was, frankly, the best biscuit I have ever eaten. The lamb was excellent. The tuna was superb.
good restaurant but needs improvements to their table assignments...Our table was ready but it took over 25 minutes to seat us !!!
limited vegetarian options
An amazing restaurant with fabulous food and a great staff. The wine list is extensive and impressive. Best food on the Monterey peninsula!! Do not miss this place!
The combination of flavors and textures was super . I have the rockfish, the sauce they used was amazing. I had a Raw Seabass appetizer that was superb. Everyone’s meal was amazing. This is a must try.
We lovee this Restuarant and go there from San Jose to enjoy the best seafood I’ve had anywhere. Food is consistently excellent and so is the service. This time we had the banana bread pudding for desert and it was fabulous too!
When we made our OpenTable reservation, I noted that it was our anniversary. Our first pleasant surprise was that the menu was headed with "Happy Anniversary!" Our server, Samantha, was knowledgeable and attentive without being pushy. The only slight glitch in service happened when the young woman serving our salad practically pushed Samantha out of her way as she was serving our wine. Everyone else was great, and the food (shared curry salad, halibut, rockfish, and, of course, Mama's biscuits) was fabulous. We particularly appreciated Passionfish's attention to how their food is harvested. Oh, the wine list did not disappoint either!
Our meals were fabulous, as always! It was my Dad's 81st birthday, and they printed a special menu for him, wishing him Happy Birthday at the top of the page. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating for him!
This place is our new favorite restaurant in the area. They have delicious sustainable seafood, great selection of wine that's very reasonably priced and the service was absolutely fantastic! Samantha, our waitress was absolutely the best and we plan to go back again.
We received recommendations from several people and had high expectations for this restaurant, but I guess for us it wasn't the right night. First we were served the wrong entrees...(thank goodness) Rock Fish, I tried a bite and thought it was terrible. I ordered the Artic Char and was very disappointed because the fish was full of bones, and the sauce for the fish was totally overwhelming. My husband had the lamb which was more like a lamb stew and he liked it. We also shared an asparagus salad that was delicious and the biscuits were very good. Glad I had those or I would have left the restaurant very hungry. They did "comp" my meal when I complained about all of the fish bones in my fish...that was a classy move. I was really looking forward to this restaurant but I was unfortunately disappointed, and would not return based on this experience.
Trendy atmosphere with a creative, albeit limited, menu. The buttermilk biscuits are to die for- best I’ve ever eaten.
