Fabulous dinner... great service! Our server and her colleagues helped direct me to a the perfect wine pairing for my entree, the seasame seared albacore. The wine list is very impressive as is the food.

Based on the pricepoint of the restaurant and the menu selection, I had a certain expectations for the amount of knowledge from the wait staff, the presentation of food, as well as the quality of taste in the dishes; all of which were a miss; however, an attempt was appreciated. It felt like the first week of restaurant opening when everyone was still trying to get used to the groove of things.
With that said, the quality and taste of the seafood was very good.

Warm upscale ambience. Relatively quiet, even though most tables were full. Attentive but not overbearing service. Our meals were excellently prepared and presented. Bread pudding was fantastic!

Passionfish chefs know how to cook fish - it was outstanding, both the scallops and halibut. The service was superb - our server was friendly, helpful, professional - everything one wants and expects at a restaurant of the caliber.

The noise level overwhelmed us - it was constant, ever present and intrusive. We have enjoyed Passionfish every time we have been in town, but it was so bad on Saturday night that it gave me pause as to whether I'd want to dine here again. I am sad to say that, as we love the food and the service. I am writing this review in hope that management might be inspired to change the acoustic levels - not easy or inexpensive but perhaps necessary.

Food was great as always, especially the crab and avocado terrine. Excellent duck confit. I would NOT recommend the finger lakes sauvignon blanc, it's nose and to a lesser extent flavor are more reminiscent of a dessert wine that's a bit off.

Absolutely loved our experience at Passionfish. Everything we had to eat was excellent and the service outstanding! Our server knew all about the menu items and was pleasant and efficient. We had goat cheese black bean fritters with to start which were amazing and I highly recommend. I had delicious fish (even better that the restaurant prides itself on offering sustainable fish and locally sourced items!) while my husband also really enjoyed his spoonable lamb. Even the desserts were good (and try their mint tea.) We will definitely be back to this place!

Had a great dining experience. Our waitress was helpful and attentive and knew the menu and item preparations (so nice). We had the scallop appetizer which was cooked perfectly. The trout was delicious but with no help deboning the whole fish, it was a lot of work. The lamb breast was lovely. The waitress said "well marbled" and she was right so there were little bits of fat that needed to be cut out, but the flavor and medley of vegetables made it worth it. Great wine and beer list. Only surprise were the wooden tables. Felt a bit TOO casual for the dining experience. They felt out of place. Tablecloths, please.

My companion liked her scallops but I was disappointed with the arctic char, which was pretty tasteless (it was on something that tasted like grits with no salt and the onions which were advertised as marinated were not). We shared the crab salad to start and it was very good, and the chocolate dessert was great.

We had a big build up from the ads but were very disappointed. The menu is very limited and the portions were very small. The food was good but nothing to write home about. There are many far better choices in the Monterey area.

Passionfish was delicious! Everything we had was clearly well thought through, and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend, and think that you probably can't go wrong with any food options! And their drink prices are amazing as they do not do a huge markup like most restaurants.

This place is so reliably outstanding that we always make a reservation when we are in PG. We love the friendly, attentive service, but it's the food and wine that make us wish we lived closer. We share our dishes discreetly and neither of us has been disappointed one bit with any dish. Everything is a step above the usual, with a little twist on what you might expect -- not too surprising, just delicious. We walk away with great memories and in a fantastic mood.

Passionfish is our absolute favorite restaurant in the Monterey/Pacific Grove area. Everything about it was & is wonderful, especially our entrees. We had 2 different fish dishes that couldn't have tasted better if they had tried. Excellent. The wines by the half or full bottle are exceptionally well priced with an array of very good choices. The wines by the glass, not so much, but it did not matter because of the more than fare pricing on bottles, as mentioned above. Service was knowledgeable, friendly & enjoyable to interact with. As an environmentalist, their attention to serving only sustainable fish is commendable and great. I wish all food establishments operated with those principles.
Thank you, Passionfish.

The food was disappointing. While the fish was good, the dishes had very strong flavors that did not got well together, and there was little cohesion between dishes.

Wine list is extensive, however our waitress (who doubled as a sommelier) was unable to describe the wines or offer coherent suggestions. We ended up looking up some wines online and ordering that way.

Service was very bad for a place this expensive - poorly paced meal, dirty/wet table, inattentive servers.

It makes me sad to give this place such a low review, since I was really looking forward to this dinner, however it was a huge disappointment.

Do not recommend, will not return.

Everything was delightful...just the way I remembered it! Our server gave us wonderful recommendations, helped a lot with wine selection (I usually know what I want, but there are so many unusual choices at retail prices that I wanted to try something different and she was extremely well versed about the inventory), and went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. The food was so tasty and fresh (don’t miss the biscuits!) - I would recommend particular dishes, but the menu changes with what’s fresh so you’ll just have to either go on-line that day and check out the menu or be happily surprised when you get there. Oh, the appetizer portions are substantial so you can easily share, or order two to sample! And how could I forget the desserts? We had a maple banana bread pudding with ice cream and it was to die for...my friend rolled me home afterwards! It’s been 15 years since my last visit and it didn’t disappoint in the least...how many restaurants can keep up that kind of consistency and success? A big thumbs up!

The scallops were great. However, I was disappointed in the warm brussel sprouts salad, which I used to love. They no longer put ham / pancetta in the salad, the grapes were sparce, the salad was dry and the ricotta salata is run through a machine, making it unappetizing.
