We come to Passionfish at least once a year on vacation to Pacific Grove. The food never disappoints and the experience is always a highlight of our visit to California.
Return visit to PassionFish was wonderful as always. Such creative pairings of food and spices. every course was delicious, the desserts spectacular. extensive wine list. well worth the visit!
AH MAZE ZING!! Food quality is perfection. Super clean establishment therefore the aromas of delicious food wafts all around. What a delight! Everything on the menu is a hit! Run don’t walk to this place!!! We’ve been coming here for over ten years and we’ve NEVER been disappointed.
Passionfish was the perfect choice to celebrate our 14th anniversary! The menu here is anything but ordinary offering imaginative dishes (cooked to perfection} that will delight your palate. The suggested wine to go with our entrees were right on. Dessert and recommended pairing is not to be missed. Menu changes daily
Soup was great. Fish was cooked perfect biscuits were excellent will visit again
Outstanding seafood selections with authentic ingredients with chef creativity. Wide wine list.
Absolutely my favorite place in the Monterey Bay area, creative menu, sustainable seafood, amazing wine list. Even the desserts are unique and delicious. Nothing humdrum or routine about this place!
The food and service is amazing. Noise level a tad high but get there when it opens as it just gets more and more crowded. Reservations recommended.
Had to ask for water and no bread service. Food was excellent, but on the spicy side in an attempt to be avantegard.
Amazing! Great food and great service. Definitely will go there when in the Monterey/Carmel area.
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Monterey County...and my boyfriend's too! The service is excellent, very attentive and helpful. The food is incredible. You just can't go wrong here. Some of my favorites are the squid appetizer, anything Brussel sprouts, scallops, rockfish, trout, duck confit, lamb...and more. And don't forget about the biscuits...flakey and buttery and worth going off your diet for. Oh, and my 96 year old mother absolutely loves this restaurant, too.
Super eten en een goede bediening
Why do hosts always seat diners in as closest proximity possible when there are plenty of tables available on a Monday evening? I don’t get it. Is it because the servers then have to expend less energy moving between tables? Were they expecting/hoping beyond hope for an influx of diners later who (as far as I could tell) never materialized? Passionfish is on hiatus for a while, for a few reasons. But good judgment/consideration for patron dining experience seems lacking here. P.s. Our server was timely and efficient, though.
Wine list is absolutely outstanding! Food lived up to its reputation. A "must do" for all the foodies when in the Monterey area.
My husband and I came here for a Saturday date night and really enjoyed ourselves. We shared two appetizers and the scallop entree as well as the biscuits and dessert. Plenty of food and my foodie husband was very happy.
Excellent service including entree choices and wine. Next table was quite loud. The scallop was superb.
Ahi Tuna and Scallops were excellent and the service was also.
Wonderful food & service! I had the sea scallops & they were amazing! We celebrated birthdays for this particular evening.
My husband and I loved our meal at Passionfish! We loved the black bean and goat cheese fritters, the beet salad and the scallops. I'm really glad we saved room for dessert, since the lemon custard was excellent and the mint chocolate dessert was even better. The service and atmosphere were also great, and I hope to return here again someday.
One of the best dining experiences we've had in years ... from the great service to the exceptional food selections. Definitely a treasure. We'll be back.
I am always amazed at the professionalism of the servers. They are pleasant, easy to understand and very knowledgable about the items on the menu.
The quality, preparation, & presentation of the food was excellent - sea bass crudo appetizer, spoonable 12-hour lamb breast, and rockfish with jicama-mint salad. Service unsurpassed and a fabulous and well priced wine list. Great place to celebrate...any and every thing.
Passionfish did a lovely job with my dad’s birthday.
Always love how Passionfish create their dishes. The only disappointment out of total 5 dishes that we ordered was the rockfish. The fish is bland, and the salad is too sour. Couldn’t finish the dish, it was horrible. But we truly loved everything else from our appetizer to our dessert tho!
My husband and I were looking for a romantic dining experience in the neighborhood of Carmel and Pacific Grove while being on our West coast roadtrip. We booked a table in the morning on opentable as it was a recommended restaurant in the romantic dining options list. The restaurant is on a fairly quiet road in Pacific Grove with plenty of parking options (we went on a weekday). The focus of the menu is really on fish, which is a great fit with the area it is located in. We shared a starter, both had entrees and shared a dessert. While we didn't pick a wine, their prices were very acceptable! What I really enjoyed about the menu is the broad range of fish only offering sustainable options. We had the fried oysters as a starter, and I had the Artic Char as a main, while both had quite some spice to it, they were very well prepared and the spice didn't own the overall taste too much. The fish itself was of great quality and taste! As a dessert we chose the assortment of panna cotta, creme brulee and orange curd, while I think it could have been better presented, it was definitely delicious! Overall service was very friendly and fast (but not too rushed either), and the restaurant has a cosy and intimate atmosphere. We had a really enjoyable dining experience with good products for a good price!
The food was imaginative and fresh. We focused on seafood and fish, all of which was local, and everything was wonderful. The scallops in particular were some of the best I have ever had on the west coast. Even the little scoop of cheesecake ice cream left a memorable impression.
Sophisticated food with attention to detail and flavors. Very friendly setting. Loved the whole trout fresh from Idaho. The scallops were delicate and with delicate flavors.
Delicious meal. Fast friendly service knowledgeable staff.
I've eaten at Passionfish several times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Wine list is excellent and also reasonably priced.
Date night with my kids and they enjoyed the duck confit, crab avocado vinaigrette salad and rockfish tremendously. As did I.
I read the reviews on Passionfish, and went for an early dinner. Boy did they over deliver. From the minute we got there, we were made to feel welcome. The staff was amazing, and the food was spectacular. I would drive the 3 hours from my house, just for dinner.
We went to Passionfish to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We noted that in the reservation request and they printed a personalized menu for us which was very special and thoughtful!
My wife having been dining here over the many years since it opened. This time was the very best:the food was creative and well plated; the wine was a bargain. Our only complaint was being seated between two tables with children/babies. Not appropriate for kids because the tables are too close.
Love to visit Pacific Grove and return to Passionfish for a tasty soup or daily fresh catch. Love, Love, Love it here <3
Ocean breezes are the best!
Sauce on the fried oysters was too vinegary. Crab salad too sweet. However the staff did credit us with payment for the oyster appetizer, which we appreciated.
Good initial impression bc we asked for a not too constricted table, space wise, and were given a 4 top. We dont need that, but in many places the 2 top is elbow to elbow with others. At this place that did not appear to be the case. But loved our 4 top! Service was really great. Present, not in our face. personable.
The best seafood in the Monterey Bay Area. All sustainable. Great wine list. Excellent service. Creative delicious appetizers—do not miss the fried squid, so fresh with an almost undetectable batter. Yummy desserts that are beautiful. Allergy menu is very helpful.
Our dinners here were amazing! We made a reservation for a few nights later on our way out of the restaurant. Large wine list at affordable prices. Sesame crusted albacore and goat cheese black bean frittes were delicious. I am hoping they are on the menu again tonight. My daughter also loved the kids portion of rockfish.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time, and the wine list is excellent.
Passionfish is an excellent restaurant with some of the most creative cuisine in this area. Try it.
