Passionfish Ratings and Reviews
We ate here for our 23rd Anniversary and it was really great. Samantha was our server and she was absolutely delightful. Best personality! The food was spot on as usual. Spoonable Lamb had layers of flavor. Scallops were perfectly cooked and buttery. The dessert - lemon trio of goodness was more than I could've asked for.
Second time eating here, still very good, happy to recommend. The food is excellent, the wine list is plenty lengthy and well-priced. The dining room is spare and lovely, but all those hard surfaces really intensify the noise. There were no loud parties or boisterous behavior, and it was still hard to hear each other. Overall, it's still worth a visit, we think, but don't expect intimate conversation.
Recommended by a friend. Very surprised my wife’s sea bass was not cooked in the middle. Was sent back and again not cooked. This was a special for the night. Couldn’t believe a restaurant of this caliber fell below standard on this.
What was cooked on our meals was great and would return to try again. The servers were great but someone in the back was having a bad evening. It happens. The restaurant did “comp” the meal and apologized.
It was our anniversary so made a reservation to go here as it was highly recommended.
Was only another couple or two in the restaurant around 5 pm. We were seated in the very back - cold and devoid of any ambiance back there. Would have been more enjoyable being up front - near the bar, fireplace, people... My wife thought we were being put in back due to us not being dressed in "FORMAL" wear - nobody else was I explained to her. All in all - not an "upscale" place by our standards and certainly not anything I would return for.
My husband and I came here after a very disappointing Valentine's Day meal at the Sardine Factory (will not go back there again). A totally different experience at the Passionfish. Great, knowledgable service. Sustainable, local foods. Our salads were melt in your mouth delicious, and the fish was fresh and very tasty.
This restaurant does not take the usual mark-up on wine, so we enjoyed some very good wines at reasonable prices.
The decor was very pedestrian, but we would definitely go back here again.
While visiting Pebble Beach we decided to go to Passionfish. The menu was great as there was a large variety. Our waitress was excellent! She helped us choose our meals as well as the wine. Our favorite part of the meal were the brussel sprouts. We'll be back!
Fresh creative menus, warm staff, welcoming for our anniversary. Curried root salad with creamed blue cheese and delightful chutney, both the scallops and rock fish super fresh and creative sides, deserts beautifully presented classy mud pie and trio of custard cousins- meringue, brûlée and perfect panna cotta.
We've been here before, and it has been stellar. On this occasion, it was VDay and I only expected the usual...good fish. It wasn't. The fish was over cooked, badly, and cold at the same time...that's hard to do. Who ever let this go out should be chopped. Step it up chef...
My wife and I had a pre-Valentine's Day dinner at Passionfish. We have always enjoyed the restaurant, but had not been there for a while. The food there is consistently superior. We shared the fried squid and salad appetizer. She then had the scallops. I had the duck confit. And we shared. Both were wonderful. It was the best duck confit outside of France in my experience. We also shared the bread pudding dessert which was excellent. Our server was Samantha, and she was everything you could want in a server: friendly, professional, knowledgeable (about the food and wine), and attentive. She recommended a Santa Cruz wine (Eden Domaine, I think) that we did not know but really liked. The Carmel area has lots of good restaurants, but Passionfish is one of the very best for really high quality food. While not inexpensive, the value is strong. The wine list is also more affordable than most; they make a point of marking up the wine significantly less than most places.
Everything was top notch. Great wine list and our server had the wine expertise to make a good wine recommendation for us. Food was also terrific. My albacore was perfectly prepared possibly the best I have ever tasted. By far the best and most enjoyable meal we have ever had in the Monterey area.
Creative cuisine menu. Phenomenal wine list with unbelievable wine prices. There are wine selections that are boutique domestic as well as imports and their half bottles are often quite rare as well. It is difficult to choose but the staff is well trained and can often offer an educated opinion to help you decide. Fresh seafood with very accessible prices and addictive sauces that I wish I could replicate. I go for my anniversary every year and I am never disappointed. The servers are vibrant, caring, knowledgeable, attentive and talented. Ideal setting for good conversation with your best friend. The duck confit is my favorite.
Service was great with attention to everything from empty glasses (water and wine!), prompt delivery of food and keeping our eating space free of dirty dishes. The restaurant can be a little noisy when it fills up. Diners are close together when busy. We were there when the restaurant opened, so we experienced the restaurant at about 1/2 occupied, so the noise was not very distracting. Food is ALWAYS well prepared with lovely presentation.
