I had a fabulous meal and the service was outstanding !! Can’t go wrong- several dish choices for the vegetarian and those who don’t love fish. Am looking forward to going back!
The food, service and wine is TOP NOTCH. I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was as well. A great place to visit if you are in the area!
Went to Passionfish about 3 years ago and love it. Decided to try it again. WONDERFUL
Although primarily a seafood location, I tried the duck confit and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the albacore and also said it was wonderful.
If you want to go on a weekend, book early as they fill up fast.
Dinner at Passionfish has become something of a tradition for us on trips to Monterey. The food and service are outstanding; the atmosphere friendly and unpretentious. I also like the fact that they make a point of serving sustainable seafood.
We ate here for our 23rd Anniversary and it was really great. Samantha was our server and she was absolutely delightful. Best personality! The food was spot on as usual. Spoonable Lamb had layers of flavor. Scallops were perfectly cooked and buttery. The dessert - lemon trio of goodness was more than I could've asked for.
Every course, every plate, every glass... incredible. We had such a romantic night here and were blown away by everything we tried.
Excellent food and drink all around. Enjoyable and interesting. Just had to hear too much of the conversation from the table too close to us.
Disappointed with the food overall, one out of three meals we were impressed with. The desserts were very tasty.
We’ve been to Passionfish before & felt it was quite good. This time the service, starters and dessert were quite good, but everyones’ fish was very ordinary. Not much flavor and the presentation was bland as well. I will hesitate before going there again.
Service was superb and attentive. Charred asparagus almost burned. Cous cous was very over cooked, almost a paste. Fish on the other hand was excellent.
Second time eating here, still very good, happy to recommend. The food is excellent, the wine list is plenty lengthy and well-priced. The dining room is spare and lovely, but all those hard surfaces really intensify the noise. There were no loud parties or boisterous behavior, and it was still hard to hear each other. Overall, it's still worth a visit, we think, but don't expect intimate conversation.
Recommended by a friend. Very surprised my wife’s sea bass was not cooked in the middle. Was sent back and again not cooked. This was a special for the night. Couldn’t believe a restaurant of this caliber fell below standard on this.
What was cooked on our meals was great and would return to try again. The servers were great but someone in the back was having a bad evening. It happens. The restaurant did “comp” the meal and apologized.
It was our anniversary so made a reservation to go here as it was highly recommended.
Consistently delicious each occasion.
Was only another couple or two in the restaurant around 5 pm. We were seated in the very back - cold and devoid of any ambiance back there. Would have been more enjoyable being up front - near the bar, fireplace, people... My wife thought we were being put in back due to us not being dressed in "FORMAL" wear - nobody else was I explained to her. All in all - not an "upscale" place by our standards and certainly not anything I would return for.
This is a great restaurant for a nice evening out. The food is excellent, the wait staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Ambiance is great.
Service was excellent, and the food was good but not incredible. I enjoyed dinner here but would probably not return.
My husband and I came here after a very disappointing Valentine's Day meal at the Sardine Factory (will not go back there again). A totally different experience at the Passionfish. Great, knowledgable service. Sustainable, local foods. Our salads were melt in your mouth delicious, and the fish was fresh and very tasty.
This restaurant does not take the usual mark-up on wine, so we enjoyed some very good wines at reasonable prices.
The decor was very pedestrian, but we would definitely go back here again.
While visiting Pebble Beach we decided to go to Passionfish. The menu was great as there was a large variety. Our waitress was excellent! She helped us choose our meals as well as the wine. Our favorite part of the meal were the brussel sprouts. We'll be back!
Fresh creative menus, warm staff, welcoming for our anniversary. Curried root salad with creamed blue cheese and delightful chutney, both the scallops and rock fish super fresh and creative sides, deserts beautifully presented classy mud pie and trio of custard cousins- meringue, brûlée and perfect panna cotta.
Always a pleasure dining at Passionfish. Our server was excellent, timely, and cheerful. The food is stellar.
Excellent creative approach to seafood and meat dishes.
Fantastic reasonably priced wine list including local and foreign wines.
They take sustainability of seafood seriously
Back spaces are very quiet and good for conversation.
The Brussels sprouts for the appetizer were excellent and the scallop entre was amazing. The tuna was disappointing however.
Been here several times in the past and always enjoyed it. This time was a disappointment — food came cold and in small portions. Wine by the glass selections were mediocre.
The service was excellent. The salad (Brussel spouts) was surprisingly good. The scallops with the mushroom risotto can't be beat. To top it off, the wine menu was varied and very reasonably priced. I will be back.
We've been here before, and it has been stellar. On this occasion, it was VDay and I only expected the usual...good fish. It wasn't. The fish was over cooked, badly, and cold at the same time...that's hard to do. Who ever let this go out should be chopped. Step it up chef...
Wow! We had a fantastic meal! Brussels sprouts were amazing! Fresh fish, innovative, sauces! I highly recommend trying this Pacific Grove gem if you haven’t already.
My wife and I had a pre-Valentine's Day dinner at Passionfish. We have always enjoyed the restaurant, but had not been there for a while. The food there is consistently superior. We shared the fried squid and salad appetizer. She then had the scallops. I had the duck confit. And we shared. Both were wonderful. It was the best duck confit outside of France in my experience. We also shared the bread pudding dessert which was excellent. Our server was Samantha, and she was everything you could want in a server: friendly, professional, knowledgeable (about the food and wine), and attentive. She recommended a Santa Cruz wine (Eden Domaine, I think) that we did not know but really liked. The Carmel area has lots of good restaurants, but Passionfish is one of the very best for really high quality food. While not inexpensive, the value is strong. The wine list is also more affordable than most; they make a point of marking up the wine significantly less than most places.
Great food. Service was exceptional.Best seat in the place. I would go back just for dessert!
Very delicious and enjoyable dinner. Service was attentive.
Everything was top notch. Great wine list and our server had the wine expertise to make a good wine recommendation for us. Food was also terrific. My albacore was perfectly prepared possibly the best I have ever tasted. By far the best and most enjoyable meal we have ever had in the Monterey area.
