I usually love everything about Passionfish. My last meal there was disappointing, though. One appetizer— fried calimari on a salad of parsley and dill — was inedible. The calimari rings were hard and dry, the dressing was so spicy and acidic that you could taste nothing else but heat and acid. My halibut entree was okay in taste, but the fish was overcooked. Finally, our server charged another table’s meal to our card! He also did not take note that one appetizer went uneaten. Not happy with this experience, and I am a longtime customer!

This place was fantastic. First of all, the wine list is my favorite. Organized so so well, and the prices are un beatable, seriously they are crazy.
Food, also a huge hit! We ordered fish everything, and truly loved it all. Not particularly warm service, but super attentive. ( I’m just nitpicking I guess) honestly just go here, it’s amazing.

The best quality food in the region at surprisingly low price level. We happily drive 2 hours and spend the night just to have dinner there.

Great Restaurant in Pacific Grove. Well worth the visit even if you are not into fish. After eating there you may become a fish lover. Excellent preparations with unique combination of cooking techniques and spices. Worth a trip to PG just for this.

What an unexpectedly good meal. We were traveling down the coast. Decided to stop for dinner - and found this restaurant on Open Table. It reviews were right on: excellent food. In terms of atmosphere: is not a tablecloth fine dining experience - as the décor is relatively casual. But the food and service certainly warrant very high ratings.

Always a good meal at Passionfish. Great wine list with very low markup. Lovely 2016 Monthelie Douhairet Porcheret Burgundy and a delightful 2019 Domaine Louis Michel & Fils Butteaux Chablis Premier Cru. For starters we had a sea scallop with a zippy relish of walnuts, capers and golden raisins and crispy fried squid in a spicy Thai-inspired sauce. Then a course of spicy fish stew and mixed greens salad. For mains a lovely Coho salmon dish and a less lovely duck confit (the broccolini were charred and unpleasant to eat).

We were taking a trip up the California coast. Our Inn (Seven Gables) recommended Passionfish. We were blown away by the fantastic assortment of unique dishes. I had lamb that was slow cooked. My wife had the duck confit. Both were amazing. At the next table we’re a couple. Both of them are sommeliers. They were telling us that the wine menu was put together by someone who really knows wines well. In addition, the wine prices were way below what is typically charged in such a nice restaurant. Do yourself a favor and visit this very special restaurant.

We dined outside next to a heat lamp, wearing warm coats, and it was lovely to be out in the fresh air. I had the duck confit and it was fantastic. My husband had the salmon and it was also excellent. Service was friendly and competent. We both agreed that it was one of the best dining experiences in recent memory.

Have dined at Passion Fish previously; disappointed this time on several account: limited menu, general small portion sizes and spicing of dishes that overwhelmed the basic ingredients. Had to ask twice for coffee refill. Restaurant does not offer espresso or other specialty coffees. Impression is that restaurant is cost cutting.

Our two fish entrees were excellent tasting, but we felt that they were somewhat skimpy in that they did not really include a vegetable serving on the side. Our scallop appetizer was also excellent tasting, but it was a very small portion and definitely not worth $12. We felt that the waiter should have forewarned us that the scallop appetizer was a small portion. Also, the bread was not complimentary with the meal, but had to be ordered at an additional price. This made us feel like the restaurant was trying to take advantage of us. Also, the restaurant did not seem to have a glass of wine less than $12 which seemed rather steep for a value-conscious diner. In summary,
