I’m a frequent user of OpenTable, but rarely submit a review. I’m making an exception for Passionfish. Everything about it was outstanding: service, value, but most importantly quality of fish. We had incredibly tender scallops and fabulous ahi. And the deserts were delicious, too.

I had a lovely scallop with capers over an artichoke heart.
Would prefer it if the artichoke heart were not deep fat fried. My companions enjoyed the tuna, fresh and served

We have been coming to Passionfish for nearly 20 years and it has never disappointed us. The fish is caught with sustainable techniques and is on the green list of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's list. And the preparation continues to be excellent and the service delightful and attentive and the pacing done well. What is not to like? We hope to continue to be customers for a long time!

The restaurant acknowledged my son’s birthday with a birthday acknowledgment at the top of the menu, the waitress also wished him a happy birthday and then presented him with a candlelit dessert treat at the end of the meal. Excellent job!

Passionfish is an excellent restaurant for enjoying wonderful meals in a lovely setting with friends. Four of us spend a long weekend in Pacific Grove every year and would not leave without having this delightful experience. The food is primarily seafood fixed with care and frequently unique preparations. The non-seafood selections include lamb and vegetarian dishes. The appetizers and desserts are also excellent. I do not drink alcohol, but my friends are always impressed with the wine selection. Finally, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. All in all, it is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Passion Fish is one of our 'go to' places whenever we visit the Carmel/Monterey area. We've been coming here for at least 5+ years and have never been disappointed.

This time, I started with Spicy Fish Stew. It was a tomato/cilantro broth and it was excellent. My main course was the Dungeness Crab Salad, a most unique dish - lots of fresh crab with avocado, spicy ginger vinaigrette, braised fennel and squash custard.. Both were excellent and I would order both, again! I had a glass of Parajes Mencia, a mild red wine from Spain.

My wife had the special Grilled Asparagus Salad and Grilled Artic Char. She had a glass of Bookin Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and finished with a cup of decaf coffee. She didn't just like her meal, she loved it!

Everything was perfect! The food, service, ambiance and even the prices were superb. We are so happy to have found such a good seafood place without the typical high prices.

This is a renovated house and is not pretentious with a wonderful ambiance - a good place for a date!

The menu had so many possibilities .....so two appetizers, one main course and a dessert later, I was certain I had arrived at four wonderful destinations! Oh yeah, I almost forgot the wine, which was recommended by the waitress and was right on the money for my pairings. The striped bass crudo was uniquely prepared and I loved it the most.

I have eaten at Passionfish numerous times over the past 15 - 20 years, and it is excellent every time. Both food and service are top notch. The fish is fresh and interestingly prepared. The arctic char this visit was served with parsnips, microgreens and a spicy sauce that enhanced the fish, but did not overpower it. I would recommend it to anyone, based on quality and price point for the community. I never miss it when I am in the area.

We celebrate in Monterey whenever we have the opportunity and Passionfish is always very high on the celebration scale. The menu changes enough that we can make a meal out of new items or toss in perennial favorites without tiring of the menu. I wish more restaurants were this fresh and innovative. Monterey is a long way to drive for dinner but sometimes I think that is what we do. Thank you Passionfish for years of consistency in cooking while keeping everything fresh.

The 12 hour cooked lamb was the best ever; I would return just for this dish. My husband’s tuna was excellent as well; tho purée of cauliflower while tasty did not blend well in color and consistency.
Service excellent; would have preferred to have salt and pepper on the table so as not to have to ask for it.
Wine list extensive.

The fish was fantastic (Arctic Char for me and scallops for my wife). Brought our teenage daughters -- one liked the seared Ahi tuna but the other didn't have anything from which to choose from the menu but they made her pasta with Asiago cheese and she was happy. Great wine list and not pricey.

I wasn't a fan. My husband loved it...I wouldn't go back. I had the trout...I wanted it just grilled...no sauce. It was brought to me swimming in olive oil...skin was still on which grossed me out. Veggies were swimming in the sauce, too. I'm used to having trout filletted at the table...that's what better fish restaurant do. The most “raved about” biscuits that are $2.00 each? I wouldn't order it again.
Having said all that, I have to tell you that my husband ordered the duck & loved it. We were visiting from out of town. If he goes back, it will definitely be WITHOUT me.

We had a wonderful experience with all of the food, service and nose. It might have been where we were seated. It seemed to absorb most of the noise. My husband wears hearing aids so he struggled. The service people had to talk loud to get their messages delivered. I hope that helps. We are good photographers so the presentation and food was picture perfect. Barbara Moon Batista
