Our dinner at Passion Fish was, as we expected, outstanding. The black-bean, goat-cheese fritters were different and most appetizing, as was the mussel chowder, which should not be missed when it is available. The halibut was perfectly cooked and nicely-sized, and the duck confit was very tasty. The mud pie dessert was a nice finish to a meal accompanied by a good bottle of Barolo. The service was attentive, but not intrusive, and very helpful guiding us through the menu. We will return on our next trip to Pebble Beach.
If you get seated in the room with large parties, it might be noisy. The food is excellent, especially Nancy’s biscuits. The service is outstanding.
Excellently prepared food. Tagine was of modest quality--so much for going off our usual fish specialties. But the overall experience with the other 3 dishes was excellent.
While a traditional strength---well chosen wines at reasonable prices---is now lost on us, it is nice now to have a good chose of non-alcoholic beers
This was our first visit, recommended by a friend. Crowded & tight dining area, seated close to other tables, so no distancing. Poor acoustics made it loud. Our server was terrible. Never acknowledged us as we sat & waited close to an hour for our main dish. Food was good, but didn’t blow me away. Was looking forward to trying it based on the accolades, but left feeling disappointed, mainly due to the lackluster service, (& the guy at the next table that talked incessantly).
Possibly newer employees?? Seemed chaotic & disorganized. Not an enjoyable dining experience for us.
seating was a bit close considering it was 1 indoors and 2 covid is present.. did not check vaccinations at door.
food was awesome.. the lamb was amazing.. alcohol prices were very reasonable
We've eaten here many times and enjoy the food. Last time, the sauce for the dungeness crab salad was too hot (scoville level) - overwhelmed the taste of the crab; needs to be toned done several notches. Staff seemed short-handed; did their best, however, there were lapses. We'll return and hope these matters are rectified.
The service was very good and the food was outstanding. Our waitress made an all put effort to ensure sure that the food for my daughter was gluten free. Would recommend this place again and I will visit when I am in the area again.
We went to celebrate my birthday, and it was a great experience. Great service and food. We will definitely be back.
Wonderful, helpful server.
So much fun!
Great food and staff
Some of the best food we’ve ever had. The dishes were wonderful and the desert was also amazing
My husband, 11 yo son and I came for dinner on Sunday 11/21 evening. We arrived shortly before our 6:30 pm reservation and were immediately seated. The service was great, wine and beer were great (I highly appreciated the offer to taste between two white wines I was considering ordering a glass of before I chose). The kid's duck confit was an awesome deal and my 11 yo unadventurous eater was initially apprehensive but was slurping the duck bone at the end. He also ordered an additional kid's buttered noodles with a Nancy's biscuit and was happy. My husband's rainbow trout entree and my 12 hour lamb breast were succulent and we enjoyed the smoked trout tostaditas appetizer and the panna cotta (11 yo son ate most of that too). Excellent meal and we'll be back!
Excellent menu, wonderful seafood. Highly recommend.
Superb food: a great combination of ingredients, flavors and textures in every dish.
Salad was nothing to write home about, but, the greens with our entrees were excellent, soft and tasty.
The halibut was moist, but without the lovely sauce, it would have been pretty tasteless. Just glad it was moist and the sauce was very good.
The salmon was much spicier than expected but very good and nicely prepared.
The scallop appetizer was very good; but get two rather than sharing one; one little scallop is not very sharable.
We thought our waiter was not particularly knowledgeable; perhaps he was new. He also was not the most fun guy in the shop; the rest of the staff seemed like they were really enjoying working there and we appreciated that.
Lemon panacotta was nice enough; Mud Pie was very good.
Great food & wonderful, helpful service! It just felt crowded, since they weren’t checking vaccination cards.
I was Very long overdue to go to the restaurant I recommend to Everyone !!
The welcome atmosphere and knowledgeable staff are on point. The food caused LOTS of moaning and groaning at our table and those around us.....Yummmm
Great food and attentive and informative service. Food arrived very quickly without feeling rushed.
The food was delicious - we had the PEI mussels, the tostadas, the lamb shoulder and trout - all excellent....
Entrees we’re mediocre. Everything else - starters, wine, and dessert - were delicious!
The covid protocol was not clear and desk staff was snippy about seating people very close to us without explanation. My husband is an MD; we take public health seriously.
This is a wonderful restaurant. Great food, service, and staff. Reasonably priced bottles of wine near retail. Unique flare to side dishes. The biscuits and banana bread pudding were to die for ( and I don’t like bread pudding)!
I would have given them 5 stars for service except our waitperson had a different explanation of how to understand the Allergy Menu that what was said on the website, so it was confusing. Other than that, she was fabulous!
My husband and I went there for dinner to celebrate our birthdays based on a recommendation from a friend and were very pleased we did so.
The menu is inventive and the food is fabulous. The quiet jazz playing in the background (not too loud to affect conversation) and dimmed lighting (not too dark to read the menu!) create a lovely ambiance.
Our waitperson made very good recommendations for both wine and food choices.
They have an Allergy Menu that lists whether common allergens are in the ingredients of each dish.
I was surprised that there wasn't a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert available given their attentiveness to food restrictions. Apparently, they used to have sorbet for dessert. Don't know why it was taken off the menu.
Amazing food and amazing waitress!
The food was very good & the service & ambiance was nice.
Everything was truly well prepared and presented. A fine dining experience.
We ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert and they were all exceptional. Prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food, decor, service, etc.
The staff was super accommodating on every level. This is one of our favorite restaurants on the Central Coast, and we will continue to return. But last night's dinner was just a bit off of their usual excellence.
Our fish was lukewarm by the time it came to the table, the sides were hotter than the fish, halibut and coho salmon. We were really looking forward to our meal but left rather disappointed with the food overall, not terrible but hardly a destination seafood restaurant. In addition though all the staff were vaccinated, table spacing was very tight, maybe two feet away which made us very uncomfortable.
It was our 21st Anniversary. We had the Mahi and Halibut. Outstanding!
We are repeat customers. When in Pacific Grove, going to Passionfish is a must. Always delicious and love the twist on the variety of seafood and fish dishes.
The service was friendly. The portions are good sized. The food was good. I had the duck confit. It wasn't the best I've had. The portion was large, but the duck tasted a little bit like it had been re-warmed. Meats get a certain flavor when they get re-heated and this had that flavor. I had the best buttermilk biscuit I've ever had in my life (61 years) and the best banana bread pudding I've ever tasted in my life, hands down. I will come back again. It was an enjoyable evening and it's not too expensive.
Food was excellent and the server was equally excellent!!!!
Sorry, but for the top-rated restaurant (of long standing) in Monterey/Pacific Grove, this had to be better. The dishes were not offensive in any way, just "muddy"--that is, the ingredients were probably all good, but not put together in a way that highlighted all those flavors....hence the "muddy" description. Presentation and dishware was very standard, service quite attentive. Definitely appreciated the wine pricing, but our selections were either not kept fresh for by the glass service, or simply were not great picks. Again, nothing bad, but nothing shined, either.
Heard about Passionfish but until Tuesday Nov. 9, 2021 had never been. It was delightfull in all ways.
Fabulous food! Delicious
We have been coming back annually except for 2019. Prior to this last visit the food was so much better for the value.
Multiple outings here and all mundane food. Nice ambiance.
My dinner was ok but not really that memorable or impressive. The fried baby squid the beet salad were both very tasty, but the halibut entree was poached and sort of plain tasting even though it had a sauce, and it was served with a bland rice custard and some plain sauteed greens. Also, we were seated at the very far end of the long narrow dining hall next to the wall so the ambiance was limited by seating location. Our server Chris was very attentive.
