French for "footbridge", Passerelle is an aptly-named casual bistro located at the base of The Liberty Bridge which overlooks beautiful Falls Park in Downtown Greenville. It never ceases to amaze me how Passerelle delivers such wonderful cuisine. Everything I've ever had has been exquisite. This time around, I had friends visiting from out of town, and they're hoping to move to Greenville from Atlanta. Manager Michael was on point to help with wine selections... the service, the ambiance, the food... all were world-class!
We only saw our waiter one time before we got our food and it took nearly 40 minutes to get our food. We had to tell the manager about it and ask that he check on our order. Once we did that, everything started happening - the manager was great.
The portion of the niscoise salad was a bit small. I had asked the waiter if the portion was large and he assured me it was. I would've ordered something else along with it had I known.
Passerelle’s was a wonderful venue for our wedding reception dinner . The food was wonderful and the staff was exceptional in accommodating us when we arrived a little early for our reservation . I would also like to thank Soby’s for their contribution to our day by making a wonderful cake . Thanks to all involved .
I ordered the crab and shrimp appetizer. My tongue said, “Did I just taste that?” It was soooo good. No shame...I used all the bread to scoop up the lemon cream sauce. My husband ordered the lamb shank and still talked about it the next day. My 6-yr old devoured his mussels, an appetizer that is a meal size for him.
We had a dinner here before a performance at the Peace Center. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside in their lovely terrace area. We enjoyed the sounds of the river with our meal, which was delicious. They offer half-bottles of wine which was perfect and their wine selection was ample. The service was attentive without being obtrusive and we left with plenty of time to walk to the performance and arrive on time.
A group of ladies dined there after a play at the Greenville Little Theatre. We always try to
go to a new restaurant we haven't been to, since we live over near Clemson. Early dining at 5:30, no problem with seating (did have reservations), a bit cool outside so we went indoors. More people came in as we ate. Great for views of the waterfalls, river, and would be wonderful in the summer and probably more crowded. Had the small plate crab/shrimp with bread. Delicious. Great for people watching, seemed to be dog friendly outside also. The manager made us super Manhattans.
A great venue in the park, overlooking the river. Try to get a table outside on the terrace. Menu is static, does not change often and no specials of the day (except soup?). It is a great, casual place to stop for a casual meal or dessert while biking or walking the Swamp Rabbit.
This was our second time at this restaurant. We were happier the first time than we were this time. There were five of us and we ordered three entrees. The food was good. We ordered the same thing last time. After dinner, we ordered dessert and told the server that we had to leave in a few minutes because we were headed to a show. Dessert took forever to come out and I had to ask for it again. We only had time to eat about a quarter of it. And, it was not nearly as good as it was last time. Chocolate Mousse should be consistent but it was not.
The real disappointment was when we got the check and they charged us $4 to split a $25 dish x 2. That's over 15% per dish. When I inquired, I was told that they provided extra food with each dish. We agreed that three little pieces of steak on each plate was not extra. I asked it this charge was listed on the menu and they said no. With that, they removed it.
Overall it was a disappointing experience which is a shame because the entrees were good and the view is great. Don't think we will be going back.
Our server came over quickly, then quite a while before she returned for drink orders. Those also were longer than necessary arriving, considering just a few couples on the patio and almost no one in the restaurant. When the food did arrive, our server did not return to fill water glasses and check on us, we had to wave down another server to get water refilled.
The manager was close by at another table, talking at length to that couple, we tried to wave him over, he seemed to be ignoring us! You would think they were the only guests in the restaurant.
I hesitantly write this review, I'm always impressed with Table 301 restaurants, their menus, price points and service. This visit just didn't meet their standards!
We love this restaurant's casualness, yet very good food and service. The food is prepared in the French manner, but not the old fashioned version. Rather than heaps of heavy sauces, they prepare astonishing multiple different sauces that some how delight the senses both with their individuality and ability to complement each other.
I had the lamb shank, and I defy any other restaurant of the East coast to create one as wonderful as this, including NYC. My wife had the trout, which was eloquently displayed with skin and skillfully boned, which she savored and refused to share!
We shared the garden salad which was appropriately light and a bottlel of French white wine, which was nice, cold and reasonably priced. The service was more than ample for such a small restaurant, and obviously well trained to the point of no one passing our Falls Park table without asking if all was well! No turf wars here!
Hats off to an engaging James Reilly, a manger, who stopped by and suggested a different wine for next time and brought us each a thimble sip of his recommendation, which was clean and crisp.....so there will definitely be a next time!
I do long for a slightly more varied menu, as I want to experience their cooking of different dishes...but they always have at least one special.. so perhaps I will try that next time...hate to be in a rut, as the two dishes we have chosen each time this year have been the same ones, but then again they are so special and wonderful, they are hard to resist.

My wife and I wanted to go downtown for our Saturday evening "date" this past week, so we could enjoy the sights and sounds of Falls Park. I checked Table 301 for dining options, and found Passarelle Bistro, which is located near the entrance of the park. This would be our first visit to Pasarelle Bistro, so we read through the online menu options and decided to try Ratatouille (a first for us). The staff and servers were very friendly, and our entree selection was delicious. We commented to each other that the atmosphere was similar to restaurants in Italy and France, and the level of service was much better than most European restaurants that we have visited. We really enjoyed our first visit, and we're looking forward to dining there again soon.
The restaurant is in the Greenville, SC downtown area adjacent to the waterfall along the Reedy river. It is well situated with the only downside being parking. This, however, is a problem with most of Greenville's downtown restaurants.
We had the trout, which was delicious and came with a mixed vegetable compliment that provided a deep flavorful background for the fresh fish. The wine list was not extensive, but we found a very drinkable white and the service was outstanding.
It appears the restaurant offers a nice french styled brunch as well.
The food is fair. They tout themselves as FRENCH and they really are just run of the mill. The service was ok. They need to train serves how to serve the food without "auctioning" it off as in "Who gets the salad, who gets the fish?". The outdoor dining view is wonderful with a view of the Reedy River park.
The arugula strawberry salad was delicious as were the scallops. The Steak Frites was somewhat tough. Coconut cake was excellent. Service was okay. We were told there was no special when in fact there was -- we heard another waiter describing it to two other tables. The manager stepped in when the server got delayed. They were apparently short on staff.
Strongly suggest that you request outdoor seating. Indoor seating is ok but lacks the ambiance if your planning a romantic dinner. I ordered the lamb shank. I've been a meat and potato guy all my life and was concerned that I might miss having mashed potatoes on the plate. The sauce on the shank was great. It had a little zip to it which also made the vegetables on the plate taste better to me. I didn't miss the potatoes. Although they don't serve draft beer, I highly recommend the Smokehouse Porter (if you like dark beers).....and finally, take advantage of the FREE valet parking offered at the entrance to the Hampton Inn and Suites across the street (but don't forget to tip).
