Food took way too long to arrive and once it did the meat was overdone. Would not have been so negative about the experience except that the manager brought the meat back to the table twice to convince me that it really was medium rare after battling with the chef. Amazing - at these prices. Restaurant is pretty and food tasty otherwise.
The food was wonderful, the environment elegant not pretentious. The waiter however, almost derailed the entire night. He was arrogant, condescending and hovering. Hovering that is until we wanted to order then we had to call him over.
We were very lucky that the Miami Spice menu was available that evening. The restaurant offered some additional items for an up charge. It was very self explanatory on the menu. As we started to order, the waiter stopped us and almost started shouting to the point that people at a nearby table turned to look to explain "it was his duty to point out that there was an additional fee."
He seemed disappointed when we all said "yes" we read that. After dessert he disappeared never to be seen again.
It was really a shame.
We were there to celebrate two birthdays, enjoy wonderful French food and have a good time. He almost changed all of that.
I used to visit Pascal's On Ponce for special occasions since my wife and I considered it a real classic French restaurant in Miami. However, we got disappointed in our last visit.
The main reason was that I had the duck confit; which was not crispy as it used to be in the past.
In Miami you have too many options and if a classic restaurant would like to keep its special occasion feature, the best dishes always have to satisfy their clients.
This restaurant is a local gem. Whether they are serving you a spice menu or their regular menu, the food and service are always impeccable. I wish other restaurants that are participating in spice would realize that how you treat a customer during spice month can determine how a customer treats your restaurant the rest of the year. Wonderful all the way around! love Pascal's on Ponce!
My daughter and I had a really nice evening at Pascal's on Ponce. Dinner was excellent.
We started with with the Twice Baked Gruyère and the Crab Cakes. Both delicious. For the main course we tried the
Scallops with Short Ribs
and the Beef tenderloin. Also both flavorful and nicely presented. We finished with the Apple Tart and a Fruit with Madeline dessert, de-li-cious!
Before the appetizers arrived, we received a little cup of something delicious to try (can't remember what my server called it lol), and also a little plate of small desserts was brought after our coffees.
Excellent service, fantastic food. Perfect dinner.
Just about every item was excellent with the exception of the Crab Cakes, not at all to a high standard quality, very small in size and it was breaded which is not the usual way of serving Crab Cakes. That was my main disappointment of the meal, I should have returned the plate. One of my other guests also ordered the Crab Cakes and I suggested she change the order after tasting mine. I noted to the server the poor quality of the dish and he proceeded to change the order for my other guest. I hope the Chef changes the recipe for the Crab Cakes.
