About Pascal's Manale
Founded in 1913, this family-run, Italian-Creole restaurant is located in uptown New Orleans. It is famous for creating barbecued shrimp.
This neighborhood restaurant is vintage New Orleans, from the service to the decor. The oyster bar always manned by a friendly shucker. The oysters are fresh, salty and delicious.
The old time oyster bar and cocktail bar offers raw oysters on the half shell and all types of cocktails. We offer fine seafood, Italian specialties and delicious steaks.

Pascal's Manale Ratings and Reviews
One of our favorite restaurants uptown--timeless and consistent. They treat you like family.
Low key, comfortable bar scene with polished, friendly service.
Fantastic raw oysters. The BBQ Shrimp are rightfully legendary. Good veal dishes and pastas. And--surprise--excellent steaks! Oysters Rockefeller among the city's best.
Never a bad meal or experience.
I wanted to love this place because it’s one of my parents favorites. However I made the mistake of ordering the special when we went. It tasted swampy to me... some type of fish with sauce... it was off and I’m not a picky eater at all. I should have stuck w BBQ shrimp or one of there classics. My parents literally rave about this place tho so maybe it was just a bad dish.
Disappointing menu. Service slow, had to ask for bread, had to wait for waiter and asked for separate checks which they could not manage. Most restaurants do give ladies who lunch separate checks. Some ladies ordered a small meal with tea only, others ordered a larger meal with wine. Hard to figure out who owes how much, figure the tax and tip. Did not work for our groupl
It was irritating for our waiter, Brian, to keep trying to interrupt serious business conversation to present the menu. The restaurant was not full at all, so the need (management pressure?) to turn the table was non-existent. When we ignored a few of his attempted interruptions, he got the message and stopped. But, it definitely created a tone for our business luncheon.
This was our first time at Pascal's Manale and we were very pleased. After reading many reviews, we opted to start with Oysters Rockefeller, Oysters Bienville and the Combination Pan Roast. All the above were excellent choices. We had one of the specials, for our main course, which was Puppy Drum topped with Barbecue Shrimp. The main course was tasty and it gave me the opportunity to try the Barbecue Shrimp sauce which the fish was set in. Overall this was a great dining experience, with quick and excellent service, good food and nice New Orleans charm.
We had been really looking forward to the Barbeque Shrimp but it was very disappointing. Absolutely no flavor. Something has changed in their recipe from several years ago. It was just a watery broth. We were very sad because we had brought 2 other couples and had talked it up quite a bit.
Have dined there in the past but it has been sometime. Was not as good as we remembered it from the past. We arrived early but had to wait 45 minuted past our reservation before we were seated. Would not recommend the special BBQ shrimp which i Had enjoyed in the past. It was very tasty but was extremely hard to peel. May have been overcooked.
Very disappointing. Their famed BBQ shrimp lacked flavor, Italian dishes pedestrian and the turtle soup had the color of dirty water.
Oysters were excellent as was the service. But this place is living off its name rather than its food.
Go elsewhere if you want New Orleans classics.
For over 40 years, every time I'm within 100 miles of Pascal's I MUST stop for lunch and/or dinner. Outstanding raw oysters, seafood gumbo, BBQ shrimp, bread, and bread pudding. This great restaurant preserves nostalgia and helps me remember what it's like to enjoy really well prepared food -- consistently for as long as I can remember!
I love this restaurant but sadly was there on an off night. Either they were understaffed or indifferent. We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation despite there being plenty of open tables. Our waiter was rude, frantic, and completely unapologetic for forgetting one of the orders, and even more unapologetic for bringing cold frozen stuffed shrimp 15 minutes later.
I’ve evjoyed dining here since my grandparents were alive, but will likely look elsewhere when friends from out of town want to try a unique New Orleans experience.
Hostess is rude and seating difficult. Cannot be seated until the whole party arrives even when they were called about delay due to heave traffic. Once in dining room, many tables were empty. Service is quick and friendly. Food is very disappointing. No seasoning. When everyone around the table is adding salt and asking for Tabasco it's not good.
A friend recommended we try this restaurant while in New Orleans and suggested we order the house signature dish, BBQ shrimp. For appetizers we had Oysters Bienville and a cup of gumbo. For the entree we tried the BBQ shrimp and for dessert the bread pudding. A person at a nearby table recommended the Meiomi pinot noir so we ordered this and were pleasantly surprised. The shrimp were a disappointment as they were mealy as if pre-frozen or overcooked. Our waitress was very apologetic and did not charge us for this dish. Other than the shrimp, everything was quite good and the service excellent. We would definitely return, but try another entree next time.
`FIRST INTRODUCED TO MANALE'S IN 1975 WHILE ON BUSINESS IN NOLA. HAVE BEEN TO MANALE'S PROBABLY 50 TIME OVER 42 YEARS AND STILL LOVE IT. THE GREATEST BBQ SHRIMP IN THE WORLD - IT'S SEAFOOD PERFECTION. EVERY DISH I'VE EVER TRIED HAS BEEN WONDERFUL AS WELL. IF YOU LOVE FOOD, DO NOT GO TO NOLA WITHOUT DINING AT MANALE'S
