This place is always a favorite. The BBQ shrimp are amazing but we love the pasta and meatballs and pasta Alfredo. Our kids love it. We love it. A must visit when in Nola.
Food was better than expected given previous experiences. Wife enjoyed oyster rocker fella and turtle soup. Surprisingly she thought the soup was as good as Commanders which is the gold standard. My blackened drum with crawfish topping was outstanding. The waitress did not know her menu and did not correctly describe the specials. The dinning room is drab, but has a nice view through the large window.
Returning to New Orleans for regular visits to our old home town, Pascal Manales is always on the restaurant list. BBQ shrimp is unique and the best in the country. Be warned, it is spicy-swimming in butter, messy as you peel and eat large sized shrimp - heads on.
The food is great the service at the table was good it only downside was it's quite noisy and they didn't take us for 15 minutes after our appointed time and there were obviously some empty tables
I have been waited on by Louis a few times and he is the best. He made the evening. Food is always great, I’ve been coming for 35 years
We are in New Orleans for a week and someone we met suggested we visit Pascal's. So thankful we did. The BBQ shrimp sandwich had the perfect amount of spice and the bread it's served on is a little bit of heaven. My husband had Oysters Dante ... and it was fabulous. What a wonderful, memorable lunch experience.
I travel to New Orleans often on business. I think I will travel to NO just to go to Pascal's. A true neighborhood gem on beautiful Napoleon St. in the Garden District. Take the trolley up St. Charles and get off at Napoleon. Just a couple blocks west are the best BBQ Shrimp, Oysters, Fish and other seafood in town. Even better, the staff is colorful, fun and full of fun stories. I miss Eddie at the bar though!
Oyster bar was great, Seated timely, server was friendly and helpful and prompt, Food was excellent
The hostess was very rude - we had to wait another hour before being seated after our reservation time and then were seated in a makeshift closet for dining. Waiter was excellent but food was very mediocre
I’m a big fan of Pascal Manale, unfortunately this last visit was not great. Had reservations for 8:30 and was seated at 8:55. Appetizers came out quickly but entrees took 50 minutes. Waitress was less than apologetic. Hopefully next time will be more of what I have grown to love and expect.
The summary: shabby treatment of customers and mediocre food.
We had a reservation for 2 at 6:45pm on a Saturday and were informed (brusquely) upon our arrival at 6:35 that there would be a 1/2 hour wait. While we were waiting, we spoke with a party of 4 elderly people who said they'd been waiting since 6:00, as party after party of 4 or larger were taken ahead of them even though they'd arrived earlier. At 7:25, I asked the maitre d' what the status of our seating was and, somewhat to my surprise, he said he had a table for us. I don't know how much longer the elderly party had to wait, but one of them had diabetes and was having a rough time of it.
-- We were seated in a small annex with 4 tables, which would have been okay except for the fact that a couple of the other patrons were wearing their overcoats, which did not bode well. It was so freezing that one of the waitresses set up a space heater in the corner of the room. Finally, they turned off the A/C and the whole room applauded.
-- We figured that, for all of this trouble, the food had better be good. It wasn't. The exception was an order of 1/2 dozen terrific raw oysters: large, perfectly chilled and tasty. My wife's house salad had old, browning lettuce, and her veal marsala consisted of two small medallions with a very bland marsala sauce (I tasted it). The seafood in my frutti di mare was fine, but was served with soggy, overcooked angel hair pasta that added neither texture nor flavor. The waitress was helpful, but the shabby treatment before the meal gives this place the two stars for service.
Food never disappoints, service from Louis is exceptional.
Everything I hoped it would be! Great atmosphere, kind and energetic staff, and out of this world oysters and BBQ shrimp. Will be back soon!
Always try to go at least once every time in New Orleans - never disappoints. Great service and great food. Barbeque shrimp is the best.
Server forgot a couple of things. Server spilled a drink and did not replace it.
Wendy is very experienced and helped me decide that I wanted the Fried Drum with peeled Bar BQ Shrimp topping. Very old school experience.
We had a friend visiting from Boston and wanted him to have authentic BBQ shrimp. He was a little hesitant to have whole shrimp to peel so my husband and I both had BBQ shrimp and gave him come peeled! There were as good as I remembered. Our friend had the special crab cakes over fettucine Alfredo. HUGE platter and he ate it all. We shared a bread pudding because I've read great reviews about it and it was yummy! Soft and warm. Oh- we started out with raw oysters- large locals, cold, and salty! Will definitely go back for them at Happy Hour!
Can’t beat the BBQ shrimp!!!
Friendly, accomadating, great food and great service. Highly recommend it.
Food was bland and cold. Service was only fair and the atmosphere was just basically plain. Not what I had expected.
Fabulous food. Very authentic. Messy though. All enters should include buns, not just the BBQ Shrimp. The shrimp diavalo was fantastic, washed down by Dixie beer.
Excellent oysters on the half shell
Excellent service, friendly, informative for someone that came from out of the area
Will come back next time our convention brings us here
The food was so good and the entire service staff were wonderful. I had the BBQ shrimp, the house specialty and is was very tasty. We had the shrimp and crab meat appetizer with the special golden sauce and is was excellent! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Food: Pascale's Manale is known especially for its version of Barbecued Shrimp, which many people find delicious. This time, it was not as good as it used to be, though it was still fine. The chicken dish was mediocre, the salad was completely ordinary. Oysters were good but not exceptional. Prices here are a cut below the best restaurants in town, but it is not cheap, and some things should be better. The desserts were the best part of the meal, including a superb pecan pie. Service: The waitress could do very little to describe the meals. She seemed almost completely ignorant about wine, and could not tell us the difference between two wines of the same sort on the relatively short wine list. She was not unfriendly but it was clear that this was just a job to her. I had a sense she had been there a long time and was used to working with regular customers who knew what they wanted.
oysters were outstanding
food was bad, scallops were very fishy
Consistently good over the years. Can't miss with this restaurant!
Stuffed shrimp with crabmeat ... the crabmeat was all filler and the coated and deep fried. Eggplant appetizer was sliced so thin and coated and fried you really didn’t taste the eggplant. Very noisy but service was excellent.
The atmosphere and food were very good. Our server was fantastic- he definitely added to the experience.
Pascal's has been making us happy every time we've visited New Orleans for the past 32 years. It never disappoints. Classic fantastic Southern food always perfectly prepared, served in a fun relaxed ambience.
Took my granddaughter for her birthday. She loved the BBQ Shrimp, Oysters Bienville and the fabulous Bread Pudding. We all enjoyed! Have been going there for years and food is always consistent in taste and quality.
It has been some time since I visited this New Orleans classic restaurant. Our meal was perfect. I couldn’t resist getting the BBQ shrimp and they were amazing.
Superb meal with superb service. Combination remolaude to start, then Shrimp Fra Diavolo for my wife and for me a filet of drum in a lemon butter sauce covered with crabmeat and a couple of asparagus spears cooked perfectly. Finished with key lime pie. Yum! Ask for Louie - he’s wonderful!
We try different restaurants, we have season tickets to the broadway series at the saengar.
Everything was good.
We’d like separate checks, not allowed.
We’d like to split an entree. Kitchen would not accommodate these requests.
Been around for a long time and has not lost her touch
Wonderful evening with friends. Barbeque shrimp was AMAZING.
Would highly recommend the bread pudding - excellent
Food as always was great this family knows how to tend the stove. I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server Jill. Wife and I eat out often, this gal made an awesome meal even better. We will be back soon.
Upon arriving, the host was speaking to an employee. He continued for several minutes before acknowledging us. I had arrived with the cocktail from my house. The host next said “you cant bring that in”. When i tried to hans it to him aa they was no trash can, he didnt want to take it.
The waiter was ok. Not warm and fuzzy. Curt. We ordered drinks. Then comes the awful part. My husband and i ordered half dozen baked oysters and the couple with us ordered a dozen raw oysters. We got the baked ousters fast ; they were not good. The other couple did not get their raw oysters for 30 minutes- they kept asking the waiter and got non responses. When they finally got them , the waiter said there was a big party in the other room who had to be served first. Why didn’t he tell them to begin with? Why didn’t he ask if they wanted to order something else. Why didn’t he give them the oysters complimentary? I told him this 30 minute wait was unacceptable and asked him to tell management. He responded “tell them yourself. They don’t listen to me”. The main courses were just fair. When we were leaving , i gave feedback to the host/manager. The manager was curt and said thanks foe feedback. He was not sincere in my opinion. I again said the service was in acceptable. Then the employee standing with the manager - the person he was speaking with when we walked in - said “Jesus says thank you”. I was appalled. I never write reviews but this was a very horrible experience
BBQ shrimp- were very good as always. Could improve on pecan pie. Prefer whole pecans and a little more filling.
We had a fantastic dinner at Pascal’s. The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. They are family owned - the owners are there - and this makes a big difference
All 5 of us had the drum and it was delicious. we had it different ways and could not decide which was better!
