Pascalou Ratings and Reviews
We had a delicious Sunday lunch. The brunch menu was very tempting but I decided to have the Niçoise salad with grilled salmon, which was excellent. One friend had the crab cake and salad. The other friend had the onion tart. Both seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal. We shared the French apple tart with vanilla ice cream. We all said we would definitely come back even though the restaurant is quite small and the tables are very close to each other.
My friend and I celebrated her birthday with dinner at Pascalou. The meal was excellent - escargots and breast of duck for me; pate and lemon sole for her. And the two desserts we shared - Chocolate Souffle and Warm Strawberries - were superb. The place is cozy - maybe a bit too cozy for my liking; since it's very small, it feels cramped and claustrophobic.
Had another great meal.came here with 4 other friends. We had the skate and spaghetti pomodoro with goat cheese, pesto and parmasan on the side to add if you like. Everything was delicious including the salads and bread pudding desert. We had the twilight dinner which is great value.
Extensive (if a bit scattered) menu with some French classics and Asian-fusion dishes. We went for an early dinner, trying to make a movie afterwards, and found the early bird prize-fixe menu on the back page. For $24.95 you can get a three-course dinner. Choose wisely and it’s a great deal. Quite a number of choices, including mussels vinaigrette, lamb chops, roasted salmon, pasta dishes, etc. Dishes were well executed, but service was uniformly slow. If you’re not in a rush to get somewhere afterward, this restaurant is a great choice. Just allow a minimum of 1-1/2 to 2 hours for the three courses.
I had a reservation for 6:30pm and arrived at that time. There was no table available and I was asked to wait 10 minutes. After more than 10 minutes, my friend said she wanted to go elsewhere which we did. The restaurant seemed hot and noisy. However, I have eaten lunch there a few times and liked the food a lot. Perhaps it is better for lunch than dinner.
I go to Pascalou quite often with friends and family. Last Saturday I went with friends that I have invited there before and another one who had never gone. He loved it and will go back.
It is the restaurant that I prefer for excellent French food. There is a big choice for the early dinner and the portions are fine.
The restaurant is small and intimate, very cute. The menu is extensive, it was difficult to make a choice. We had the shrimp appetizer. It was very good, I would love to see that as an entree. It's one of those rare dishes that you remember days later. Our entrees were also very delicious. The desert serving size are big; definitely shareable. The waiter was a bit inattentive but the bust boy was great. Overall, a great experience. I will definitely go back.
I have been here many times before and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Tues night, of all nights, they were so crowded, they could not adequately service us. Orders, request, food were all delayed. Food itself was very good but experience unpleasant. Restaurant should have fewer tables and more help.
The last two times I was here the food I ordered was terrible!
I had ordered the Foie Gras with cranberries and orange which was awful; I sent it back
Foolishly I thought perhaps it had improved! Wrong! Tiny portion of so called foie gras tasted and had the mouth feel of undercooked chicken liver with connecting tissue! There was an over abundance of sauce (perhaps to disguise the poor quality of the whatever it was! Sauce so tart as to pucker my mouth.
My next course was the Tuna tartar which used to be wonderful. Tiny portion of Tuna mixed with enough vinegar for four portions. The vinegar permitted all greens,; another way to disguise portion size, seaweed, and ginger,
The cheese soufflé we had for dessert was, thank goodness excellent.
The proprietor is a sour faced unpleasant "hostess".
We had a lovely eager young woman as our server.
We've always had a great experience at Pascalou, but our last visit was a bit of a disappointment. My wife's salmon was seriously undercooked. They did take it back and cooked it more thoroughly, but by the time it got back to our table the rice side dish was cold and the vegetables were wilted. They offered us free dessert to make up for it, so that was nice, but it would have been nicer if the food was cooked properly in the first place.
We will be back, though. As I said, normally the food it terrific.
My husband and I just ate an early dinner there this past weekend. I had the twilight prix fix menu and it was excellent and great value. I had the warm mussel appetizer, the pasta and bread pudding for desert. Everything was excellent. My husband ordered from the regular menu and we both enjoyed the meal and will be returning shortly. The Chardonnay was wonderful !
My first time to Pascalou. It's a small place but I didn't feel crowded. They have a very nice prix fixe menu. I ordered the salad, the lamb chops and for dessert, the bread pudding. The salad was very good. The lamb chops were excellent; tender, tasted delicious. I'm partial to bread pudding and this was wonderful.
I will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone.
