Their early evening prix-fixe is a bargain with many great choices but the best thing about the restaurant is that the food is delicious! and the people who go there are nice and interesting and we had a wonderful conversation with our "neighbors"! It is small - not fancy but a perfect bistrot.. and with Italian and Asian specialties as well as French.
We went there for a Sunday brunch after going to The Met. It was very good - food was tasty, service was top notch, and the price was very good.
Took a look at the dinner menu, and that look very appealing as well.
This is definitely a place we will return to.
A classic Upper East Side cozy restaurant with mostly a clearly local clientele. There used to be so many places like this: casually atmospheric, cozy and friendly, and good food at reasonable prices. It is really lovely. Very convenient to the 92nd Street Y and a very well priced prix fixe.
This is a delightful bistro -- perfect for a cozy meal for a few friends or a couple. Excellent food -- with a superb brunch, especially "Eggs in a Nest" -- and many good dinner options. A particularly good value for New York City and close to the Guggenheim.
2nd time at this restaurant and we enjoyed our meal. We had escargot and Fois Gras for appetizers, both excellent. My wife and daughter had Skate and they thought it was very well prepared and tasty. I had Duck Leg confit, unfortunately it was dry. It was ok. For dessert we had the soufflé and berry shortcake both very well done. Our wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Cozy upstairs without a lot of noise. Would certainly go again
The restaurant overall was lovely. The server was courteous and willing to give suggestions. The food was very good. And the menu was chock full of choices. The ambiance - well the space itself was quaint but we were seated near a table of “extroverts” who seemed to want to share their stories and opinions with the entire restaurant because they were so loud and kind of obnoxious.
It was a cold evening and every time the door opened to slow in newcomers they would hold the door open since there was little room in the entrance for the party to stand and the entire area would grow quite cold. I discovered that there was a second upstairs dining area which was quieter and away from the entrance towards the end of our meal. Had I known this existed I would have asked to sit there ( it was pretty empty when I went in search of the bathroom).
We were celebrating a special occasion and when making the reservation this was shared but the staff did not acknowledge or give us any special attention which is fine but then why ask in the first place?
All in all it was a lovely dinner despite the level of noise and the cold air. I would return but only in the spring/summer/early fall when the weather is a bit warmer.
Having previously enjoyed dinner at Pascalou, my wife and I came in for brunch on Christmas Eve and was surprised to find the place dark, with no one to greet us, and the music at best inappropriate (for brunch in general and for Christmas Eve in particular).
The bread for the French toast was not a quality Challah or even nice French bread — it was more of a hard crusted slice of white bread. They served fresh fruit with it but did not recognize that the fruit should be only berries (but not raspberries) and bananas (and definitely never cantaloupe), which are meant to be eaten with the maple syrup and French toast. They offered a thimbleful of maple syrup, which was inadequate.
Let’s just say, perhaps brunch is not their “thing”.
We had a delicious Sunday lunch. The brunch menu was very tempting but I decided to have the Niçoise salad with grilled salmon, which was excellent. One friend had the crab cake and salad. The other friend had the onion tart. Both seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal. We shared the French apple tart with vanilla ice cream. We all said we would definitely come back even though the restaurant is quite small and the tables are very close to each other.
