Partake by KJ, located in Healdsburg, California, is a contemporary restaurant offering a twist on the wine tasting room concept. We ate here for the first time during Restaurant Week. My wife and I both chose the $39 3-course dinner plus wine paring, and deliberately made different choices from the menu, to taste the maximum number of dishes. The food was universally very good - relatively simple preparations done well. However the amount of food was very small - we were both thinking of things to munch on when we got home. The wine pairing (at $10/person) was exceptional! We were each of served three glasses (not full but substantial) of really good K-J wines, which was a great value. The restaurant is very small, and the noise level was higher than I would have liked. Service was simply perfect. If only there was a little more food.
Our first visit was a great experience - good food, wine & value. We were excited to come back again and since it was Valentine's Day, we thought it would be even more special. Well, this menu was definitely not as good as our first time. And of course, since it was a holiday, the price went way up. How unfortunate because the food was not exciting at all. The regular menu consisted of lamb & steak courses and the garden menu had a boring salad & gnocchi. The best part was probably the wine.
Greg was our server. He was one of the best servers I've ever had. He knew the wine list extensively and provided great guidance for the food pairings.
He made our dining experience both memorable and exceptional.
Also, every dish we had was delicious and every glass of wine we had was special.
Food and service were great. The choice of wine to pair with the food was great. It was both a fun meal and great experience.
Very accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly staff. With advance notice we managed to get a multi-course vegan dinner. Everything was delicious, the portions were just the right size, and the wine pairing was spot on. We especially enjoyed the creative use of mushrooms in more than one dish. I'd also like to mention that KJ has a great culinary garden at their tasting room in Santa Rosa, well-worth visiting, although I don't know if the restaurant in Healdsburg gets the produce from there.
We are wine industry related and were very disappointed. I expected more from KJ. For what we were charged it was way overpriced. My son who is a culinary student could barely touch the mushroom soup. My wife couldn't eat it at all. The portions are extremely small for the entrees we were served. We were so upset we skipped dessert and went down the street. Unless something changes in the future I do not see myself coming back or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

This restaurant that's associated with Kendall Jackson wines is about more than just wine. The food is prepared in imaginative ways with a real depth of flavors and can be enjoyed with or without wine, and this is true for starters, entrees, and desserts. The potions were not too large so that we could enjoy multiple courses without feeling stuffed. It was great fun to try to guess the wines in the blind tasting.There are a small number of tables, and seatings seemed to be staggered, so the service we received was really outstanding.
We went with 4 friends that had never been. We had high expectations as we are seldom disappointed there. All the wines and plates that we were served were tasty. The service team was led very well by Matt. Both Greg and Alvaro did an incredible job of providing support. We are proud to have this restaurant in our hometown and love to show it off.

We had seen reviews that recommended Partake at KJ for the quality of food and its wine pairing, and I have to say after experiencing it that I could not agree more.
The food was top quality, inventive, with locally sourced ingredients (all vegetables coming from the Kendall Jackson properties) and very nicely presented. If you like going to restaurants for their tasting menu, quality of ingredients, perfect cooking, this is it! You will be enjoying it fully.
It is actually the best possible quality vs value that I have ever found for tasting menus with wine pairing. It opened up a different perspective about KJ's wines, and if that is their goal, it is very well done.
Since we were two and are used to sharing food for a more complete experience, we decided to have both tasting menus which allowed us to try 10 dishes with their associated wine. The house also gave an amuse-bouche to start with which was fantastic (a creation of the day with creme fraiche, persimmon, pistachio and balsamic vinegar), also paired with its surprise wine (you'll make your guess).
What it is not is a trendy bar with a lot of people, nor it is overly romantic with dimmed light. It has a clean decor, both with modern and rustic touches that go very well together. The good side of this is that it will be more quiet than your typical popular dinner venue and you can enjoy good conversation.
The service was prompt and delivered with attention to details, and sharing excellent knowledge about the wines being served and their vineyards.
The boutique has interesting items not seen elsewhere such as grapeseed flour and oil from specific grapes (as opposed to blends). I enjoyed tasting different grapeseed oils which was a nice discovery.
All in all a great experience and I highly recommend you to make a stop there if you are in or going through Healdsburg, and do choose the tasting menus..
We came early on a Wednesday at 5:30 PM, for wine and food pairings, and our waiter Greg was beyond outstanding! His knowledge of wines, and how the varieties express different characteristics in different areas, led us on an exciting and enlightening adventure through our Partake experience. The Lamb and the Duck were amazing, and much better than I was anticipating, but I have to say it was our server, who who lifted our evening to a whole new level. We left beyond satisfied, and with a delightful wine we discovered in the process, to share with friends.

I've been here twice now and have had superb service both times. I love the intimate dining experience in the elegant dining room. The food here is creative and exotic. The wine paring options are delightful. I haven't had anything that I didn't like with regards to food. I highly recommend Partake for an evening of extra ordinary dining experience.
This is a fairly new place in Healdsburg done by Kendall Jackson winery. Their tasting menu is great and very well priced. They only have about 8-10 tables, but when we were there only about 4 of them were full the entire time on a Saturday night, I don't think people have heard of this place yet, because their food is amazing and I think once work gets out they will be packed.
While in wine country 8 of us spent a lovely evening of wine tasting and great food that was paired with it. The server was most knowledgable and accommodating which made for a memorable experience.
We enjoy finding unique restaurants when we visit the wine country. Good to get away from the large chains. We are moderate "foodies". The staff explained each offering and suggested the appropriate wine selection. The meal was well paced and made for a very relaxing evening. Since we are KJ wine club members we were pleasantly surprised that our full meal was discounted. We will return to Partake again.
Four long time friends enjoyed a delightful experience of food and wine paring at Partake.....we had a three corse meal matched with Kendal Jacson wines......our server was attentive and introduced us to some exceptional wines from KJ.
Don't be fooled by the big box name, this place has it all. I had the "From the Garden" wine pairing dinner and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. It was fresh, very tasty and the wine pairings were spot on for enhancing the meal. Our server was excellent and I will go back anytime I get.
The food was very well prepared and featured fresh ingredients and great flavor combinations. We ordered the wine tastings and each got 3 small glasses (white for me, red for my husband) of wine, and had to guess what they were. This was great fun, as was the initial blind tasting of wine presented in a black glass so you could not get any clues from the color. The service was outstanding.

Took my wife on short notice to Partake, and was really pleasantly surprised. I knew it would be part of an expanded tasting room, but the venue has a nice bistro feel. The food was outstanding. I had trout, which was perfectly done, and my wife the potato gnocchi, which she enjoyed. Though KJ is a vast producer of wine, the pinot noir and chardonnay we drank is more artisanal and certainly very good.
The menu is limited but excellent. They only serve Kendall Jackson wine but, have a great selection. No mixed drinks. Our waiter was wonderful and helpful with suggestions. I complimented the chef on his salad dressing and he kindly gave me the recipe.. Presented typed and wrapped with a bow..
We chose to split the chef's tasting menu to allow us to experience all of the choices and enjoy the paired wines. We felt that the half servings each were enough.
The evening started out with an added tomato with balsamic dressing which was not on the menu. It was served with a wine in a totally black wine glass. We were to determine from taste what the wine was. It was a fun start.
The wait staff were all very attentive and discussed the food preparation and the wine.
We will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to friends.
The food was good, but small quantities and very expensive for what you received. I tried two of their Pinot Noirs, and was not impressed, although the waiter tried to convince me they were good. I view this as a one time experience. The next night we went to Charlie Palmer's Dry Creek Kitchen, a block away, and it was much better. Excellent food, great service, which justified the somewhat high prices.
Very small restaurant with only two tables for two. Even though we had a reservation for two, we were seated in the bar area instead of the restaurant, as the two tables for two were already taken. The experience at the bar area was far from fine dining, as would be expected for the prices on the menu. I think they should not accept reservations if they cannot seat you at a table in the restaurant area. High prices for bar atmosphere.

My wife and I have eating here the last two years on our visit to Healdsburg. The wine pairing dinners are great. Service is great and they make you feel special.
We loved the central location and the fact that it was small. Our wait staff was friendly and attentive and definitely made us feel special. The food was wonderful.
It is a very limited menu if you don't order from the Chef's selection menu. We were unsure of what to order but our server, Rose made very good selections for us. Rose made us feel special as we celebrated our anniversary, she even brought us a special dessert. The food was good even though we ordered things we had never heard of. It was a bit out of our comfort zone but overall the food was good. Ask for Rose!
Some food items were salted too much, overpowering the taste. Food was very creative and presented beautifully.

This was my 2nd time at Partake for dinner and I again left feeling well sated. The Chef's course (with wine pairing) hit the mark again with fun dishes, full of thought, flavor, and ingredients, that are not over embellished. The surprise winner of the evening was grilled squid with bits of bone marrow for unexpected richness. Also, not to miss, is the lamb tartar - simply amazing. In addition to being a very fine meal, the price is incredibly reasonable for the ambiance and quality of food/wine.
We went on a Sunday night with a small group of 5 for my birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the service was stellar. 4 of us did the tasting menu and 1 picked off the menu. Everyone loved the food. The one that picked off the menu had chicken and everyone was told to take a bite because it was the best chicken he ever had. I can't wait to go back.
The service was really great. When we arrived our table wasn't quite ready, so they turned that into a positive and my wife and I got to try a wine at the bar. Our waiter was really great. We got the tasting menu with wine pairings and he was so helpful and knowledgeable about the wine. He wasn't stuck up about it, but informative and helps us beginners learn a bit about wine. The food was excellent. The Lake Trout was perfect. I highly recommend Partake for a casual but great night out in Healdsburg.
The service and food was just outstanding. The mystery wine flights are the best $10 value.
We had dinner and we're pleased with seating at open window. A complimentary Mystery wine was served in black opaque glass with the amuse bouche of tiny tomatoes. Fun to guess whether white or red. Oysters were good. Duck and lamb both excellent. Server was very informative and friendly. Cute little bags of homemade peanut brittle were given to us at end. Quite yummy.
The food and wine were great. The staff was very attentive. They also made my mom feel very special on her birthday. I will be sure to come back next time I'm in town.
Choice of a vegetarian or regular tasting menu served with Kendall-Jackson wines. They were willing to sub a potato gnocchi course (very good) for the fried sweetbread course that several of us were unwilling to try. This was a great way to try K-J wines with food. The courses were small but plentiful. The jasmine panna cotta was my husband's favorite dessert of all time. Was disappointed that I did not get a choice as to how my filet was prepared and I am not a fan of rare:(
