One of the best halibut dishes I have had In New England.Definitely will return again.
The service was extremely slow. My food was supposed to be hot, but it was served to me cold. I paid a lot of money for sub par service and cold pasta. I’ll never go back here again.
The food was delicious, the ambiance was wonderful and our server was great.
Parsnips is situated in a classic style room, low ambient music so that there is no problem in hearing everyone at the table. Service was quiet, efficient and cordial. Food was excellent at reasonable prices.
The food was excellent; both my companion and I enjoyed our entrees. Initially we shared a salad, but we had to use our bread plates. Knowing that it was to be shared, we should have been given two extra salad plates. Minor slip.
Expensive, noisy, portions were very small for the price, pasta special was bland.
There is a new chef and a new menu. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We'll be back for sure.
I loved this place!! The food was amaze!! I loved the fireplace!! My new favorite restaurant!!
Excellent food, good service, but was a very busy Saturday, and server a bit overwhelmed. Great place for special occasions.
The room is beautiful and elegant, the service was great, the food was just ok and expensive. This was our second time. The first, about a year ago, the food was fabulous. They had no non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu. We asked the bartender to make one for us and it was terrible.
Easily accommodated our food allergies (gluten AND dairy). Food was delicious, fresh, and well prepared (though we also asked for low salt so they would skip the finishing salt which can be excessive). Service was great. Ambience also wonderful. Felt warm and cozy even though the room is spacious and has double height ceiling. Quieter than you’d expect given room size. Held a quiet conversation at table with no trouble.
Excellent experience at Parsnip Saturday night! First time there, restaurant was inviting, well lit, comfortable, warm. Service was excellent, food was excellent, and it was a fairly quiet restaurant despite it being almost full, high ceilings, and quite a large room. Wonderful experience all around, a welcome respite from the Harvard Square eats I generally find to be either noisy, expensive for what they are, or both.
I was so pleasantly surprised by Parsnip. The space is beautiful and the tables are far apart, so you think--must be expensive! But there are mostly reasonably priced items on the menu. Our food was delicious and the portions were large without being overwhelming. Best of all, it was really quiet, even when the tables filled up. Service was lovely too.
First time. Trying to mix it up because I have 3 favorites in Harvard Square but want to branch out.
Dining room is gorgeous. Service was pretty good. Food was mediocre. When you look at the other reviews, the food was terrific or not, one of two extremes. Spent $120 and that included just one mixed drink. Unlikely I’ll return.
Great vibes dinning at parsnip service was really good and food was unique and delish
2nd time...underwhelmed both times. Service is friendly, food is good but not great, bottom line is you can do better and pay less elsewhere.
The place is lovely to be in, the service is great, but the food is lousy. I'd give it a C-.
Our dishes (sea bass and risotto) were overly complicated, poorly conceived, and somewhat unpleasant.
Risotto: gummy and tasteless.
Bass: the fish was okay (not great) but the rest of it was discordant -- as if any idea of what to put on the plate had nothing to do with the taste of the fish and the other accompanying food.
Simplify the dishes and make them great!
Pretty restaurant in unbelievable location looking out on the park in Harvard Square. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. I didn’t care for my dinner, but I had asked for a lot of modifications. The rest of my party loved their meals.
I had previously only been for cocktails, looking for somewhere nice to have dinner in Harvard Square that was different. Very pleased with the choice. Menu was interesting: had lamb skewers for appetizer, Short rib ragout and Sea Bass for entrees. all were delicious! also tried the Winter sangria which was delicious! Service was outstanding. our reservation was early, so noise level was very quiet. It was nice to actually hear my date!
was pretty lame. not busy since just after holidays. so, seems like service, food would be at least decent. it was edible.
New Year’s Eve dinner. Great choice
A special place for a special meal. Excellent choices, interesting preparations, relaxed but superb service.
Hope to come again often.
Below average food. Limited menu.
Food was good. I had the scallops which were very good perhaps a touch under cooked. My wife had the short ribs which were delicious and the eggplant dish was excellent. The ambience was warm And quiet. The service was very attentive. All in all a big win.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had! Brussel sprouts were amazing.
Cocktail (Old Fashioned) was terrinlble.
Food was uneven: Good salad; Wonderful pumpkin soup was lukewarm. Good fish main. Roasted Mushroom Tagliatelle was terrible.
Wait staff was harried and not particularly knowledgeable.
Potentially fine restaurant messed up on execution.
The staff was great with accommodating my request for our anniversary. Even gave us some drinks to toast with! Food was 10/10
The food was okay, but nothing special. The meals took a very long time to get to us from the kitchen. We asked the server who checked with the chef who said it would be five minutes. It was still fifteen. We mostly had cheeseburgers which are not too complicated to make. It’s my first time there. I don’t think I will be back. The decor of the restaurant was nice and the drinks good.
Beautiful setting for a special evening. Service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The menu selection is very creative and the food was wonderful.
The atmosphere on Thanksgiving Day was festive.
If you have any allergies, be very cautious -- the chef did not take this seriously at all.
The front-of-house staff was appropriately concerned and compensatory, for which I am thankful.
Delicious fresh flavors with Turkish touches...lamb meatballs with a persimmon salad...friendly waitstaff...toasted bread and fresh butter...overall, good selection of variety of dishes, well prepared and plated.
Absolutely wonderful! The food is Michelin star quality, we met the chef, and Jeffrey is great. Service was also wonderful and it is a very attractive, relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit.
staff friendly & accomodating. chef visited tables, nice touch.
We had the impossible burger and the roasted chicken, charcuterie plate and salad. Everything was delicious, the service was superb, and the ambience excellent. This is a great place for special occasions.
The cocktails were not exciting, we will stick to wine next time. Overall highly recommend this restaurant.
A beautiful, calm dining room, very pleasant and friendly service, and tasty food. A lovely b'day dinner.
Beautiful, relaxing space with creative and delicious food. Everyone was kind and personable. We’ll be back!
Went solo. Seated by the fire. Excellent service.
We've been going for years and Parsnip today is the best it's ever been. Wonderful food, interesting choices, lots of "small" plates which we love. Great wine list. Service is impeccable. And we love the fact that this is a restaurant where we can actually hear each other, even when all the tables were filled! I happened to watch Chopped last week when chef Jeremy Salazar won, and I understand why when we ate at Parsnip last Friday. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Cambridge, many of them very good, but this one's a gem.
Amazing food and great friendly service! Highly recommend going at any time.
