Parma Trattoria Mozzarella Bar Ratings and Reviews
I love this restaurant...great food and great service. But they close from 2:30-3:30pm? That is crazy to me! We showed up for our reservation at 2:30pm and they said we were welcome to have drinks but we could not order any food until 3:30pm because they were switching over chefs at that time? What kind of restaurant does that!? We ended up leaving and plan to go back some other time not during 2:30-3:30pm. It makes you wonder what kind of business decision that is and what kind of dedicated staff do they have if they have a one hour gap?
Parma is a great restaurant in Louisville! The food is outstanding, while the service is a little slow. If you are in no rush, this place is for you. Also, they don't have a children's menu, so you are forced to order a side dish off the main menu (milk is extra). Overall, I would have given them a 5-Star rating, but given the slow service, I brought it down to a 4.
We went for Valentine's Day and although I had browsed the menu before hand, when we arrived they had a Valentine's only menu with no ability to order off the old menu. There were no prices listed anywhere. It was a 4 course menu but the choices for dinner entree were very limited. We sat next to a fireplace that wasn't on. The water they delivered was warm and no ice to be found. I was shocked when after a mediocre dinner, the bill came to $135 for two. The price per person should have been listed and for a mozzarella bar, you could not order any cheese! My boufriend doesn't eat ted meat and there was only one option; a terribly sweet butternut squash ravioli with watery sweet butter broth. The appetizers were good and so was the dessert but It's in a strip mall so the ambience was lacking as well. The service was good and my grey goose martini was a steal at $11 but sooo not worth the money.
We have been to Parma many times. This time was Valentine's day. Normally on Valentine's day we all see a limited menu. As expected Parma offered a limited menu, however we were faced with 4 courses all courses with multiple choices. Just great. Please, if you like legit Italian food, take it from me, a guy from NY, try Parma. You won't be disappointed!
We thought the food and service were excellent. We were, however, surprised upon arrival that the only option for the food was to choose from their special Valentine's Day menu, at $55/person - drinks were extra with some pretty pricey wines available. So it turned out to be a more expensive evening than we expected. The selection of food on the menu was good, and all of the food was very good.
Went here for the fixed Valentine Day menu and the service was not only outstanding, but a pleasure given the pressure of the evening. Nice selection of all 4 courses and the menu was exceptional. I had a very good sea bass, my wife a squash ravioli and they were up to par - actually exceeded par! Very nice evening overall.
Tried most everything on the menu. Remember to order the pasta dishes "ala denta" and all is wonderful. Most of the servers are young and new to restaurant service , so make allowances for that. They mean well and aim to please. Outside patio is wonderful , when weather permits. Restaurant does a good business with many noisey large groups, so don't bring a date for a romantic evening, that being said its a good go to place for a nice meal.
Our anniversary dinner, just two of us ate more than we have eaten in years. Started with 3 appetizers and wine at the bar, moved to the table for 3 main courses and just 2 deserts. Excellent wine recommendation, cannoli's made fresh at order time - crispy shell, great filling. We had Tagliata, Eggplant Parmesan and my favorite: spaghetti aglio e olio. Made our night. We did take some home.
Great experience. We were able to get a reservation on Friday night. Our table was ready when we arrived, the wine and mozzarella appetizer was delicious, as were our entrees. Food was quick and hot, and the service was good. Quality of experience is consistent and we come here often.
Though they've tried to polish it up with a fireplace, this restaurant feels like any other strip mall diner. The food was just average. We had the buffalo mozzarella, which was meh. The waiter didn't bring the bread to go with the mozzarella until I asked him about 5 minutes later. The pizza was sub par for an authentic Napoli style pie -a bit greasy and it wasn't cooked long enough to give the crust a bit of nice slightly charred flavor. The plastic laminated menus and noisy environment detract from the overall experience. Also, the host who greeted us was wearing a too small t-shirt and jeans - not a good first impression. I won't go back.
We've become frequent diners at Parma because the food is consistently good. Our favorite dishes are the Trout with Capers, Short Ribs, Boar Ragu and the Polenta with Rosemary Cream Sauce. Parma is also a great lunch spot with many sandwich and salad options along with their full dinner menu. The nice thing about Parma's entrees is that there's always more than we can eat, so we end up having lunch for the next day!
Based on the reviews, I expected to be wowed, but this restaurant turned out to be a very average Americanized Italian restaurant. Nothing memorable, except the lack of seasoning. The fried polenta really screamed for salt.
Disappointed because of high expectations. Perfectly all right if I hadn't had my hopes for a great meal checked.
First time to Parma, very impressed. The service was excellent, the menu is extensive, we ordered appetizers, wine, soup, entrees, all nicely spaced apart. We will go back to try so many different things. So many Italian restaurants have a limited menu, Parma has it all!
Love this local place. Great, authetic food with a good happy hour. Always tasty. Lunch can get disorganized as you order from the counter and the line gets long. Have had two large groups here and experienced issues both times. Everything was taken care of but when busy, orders were lost on both occasions. Great staff.
On entering the restaurant, the atmosphere was very nice and when seated the menu was rich with many varied categories and choices. In addition there was a Happy Hour small bites tasting menu from which to sample. The duck prosciutto on the Happy Hour menu was a very different treat and much enjoyed! The Margarita Pizza was very good as was everything.
The dessert shared of house made Chocolate Mousse was very wonderful and an exceptional find!
In addition to the excellent food the two waiters that took care of the table were sincerely helpful and great!!
Parma is definitely a favorite of ours. We make the trip regularly from Erie and have never been disappointed. The menu is outstanding and serive is impeccable. Some of my favorites include the gnocchi with four cheese, veal saltimbocca and of course their homemade fresh mozzarella. I can't wait for our next family outting!
We enjoyed our dinner but found the restaurant, and staff, overwhelmed by the rush of a Friday night dinner. Service was very nice and good - but slow to deliver our drinks and food. Add a little more support staff to help the waitresses. Food was good - but not memorable. The arugula salad needs some love and attention.
We celebrated my birthday with our family. There were 8 of us, including our 2 grandchildren. They love your pizza and bread.
Everyone enjoyed their dinner. Each had something different. It was a very fun evening. The only thing that does bother some is the noise. It is rather leaning to the very high level. Our server was excellent. We dine with you often.
our second time here - we're in denver, son is in boulder, so while its a ways from our house it's on our way when we go up there - both times food has been great - they can handle large groups as the first time we dined there our group was about 12-15 people - would recommend this place
Disappointing visit to this restaurant. Had a long wait for a table despite a reservation. Restaurant was crowded and very noisy with tables crammed together. Too loud to talk to others at our table. Restaurant was out of scallops ordered and offered to substitute extra shrimp, but did not. Should have gone somewhere else and definitely will, next time.
Place was totally packed on Sat. night, so make a reservation! No empty table, but we could hear ourselves talk, which was great. Very convivial atmosphere. Food was good - Roman Wedding Soup, Lobster Ravioli (excellent sauce), Chicken Marsala, and the featured wine. Even enjoyed the bread in the bread basket, nicely warm and fresh. Chocolate mousse was the best dessert, though the warm chocolate cake and orange creme brule also won rave reviews. There is outdoor dining - looking forward to trying that next time.
This was our second trip to Parma (the last one was quite a while ago). This time we took friends who hadn't been there before and we were hoping for a great dinner like we had the first time. You didn't disappoint. Dinner was great, the wine was wonderful, and our waiter was friendly. Great Saturday night! Thanks!
We had a great dinner! Service was just ok because our waitress was spread too thin.
its noisy so we were almost yelling at some points. I guess that is supposed to be called lively.. I find it not great for dinner conversation.
We will be back. We were there introducing our friends to your restaurant.. they liked it too.
Great gluten free choices..
Overall the food was good and the service once we were seated was great, but being on a date with time constraints I assumed with having a reservation it would not be a concern until we ended up having to wait roughly 20 minutes to be seated. This was upsetting especially because the staff was not very accommodating and didn't seem to make it a priority to get us seated when we were waiting 20 minutes after our reservation time in a situation with a time constraint.
