Parma 8200 - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
No one was at the entrance to check us in and seat us. Once seated, the waitress did not come by our table for a cocktail order for 20 minutes. It took another 15 minutes to receive our drinks. Another 15 minutes passed before the waitress came for our dinner order. This whole process took from start to finish about 2 hours and 20 minutes and one meal was served ice cold! This truly was the worst service ever and perhaps that is the reason the restaurant is closing! Bad image for the D'Amico's!
The halibut and gnocchi was delicious! The gnocchi was the best we've ever had. The pork chop with mashed potatoes was not so impressive. A little bland. However the pork pasta dish (sorry I forget the name) was very, very good. We would definitely go back!
We went there for date night and were happily surprised that everything was just as I'd hoped. The menu had great selections in all categories, the service was fabulous and most of the extensive wine list was 1/2 price! Wow! We loved it, will definitely go again and will share this with friends looking for a great night out!
The experience was excellent from the time we walked in till we left the restaurant. The food was fantastic, especially the chicken gumbo. I'm not guessing too many had it on a 90 degree day but they missed out. The lasagna was also very good as was the salmon. We'll be back.
My wife and I returned to Parma this last weekend for their advertised "Date Night" special. On Saturday night, guests were offered a 3 course meal for $50 total - and selected wines 50% off. The course selections are fair, given price. Salads or an appetizer are course one, 5 entrees are course two, and three choices for dessert are course 3.
Without going into great detail, the value is good, not great. The selections are varied enough to satisfy most guests, I presume. I had lasagna and I would rate it as a "3". I would wish for better, but it is a fair portion. My wife had salmon, ordered it without salt, and was surprised to find the tomato, olives and feta topping to be considerably over-salted. This was somewhat disappointing as a number of meals at Parma in the past have suffered similarly. Quality food and ingrediants simply don't need the excessive salt treatment. The salmon, though was cooked right - and my wife enjoyed the fish by itself.
Service was good - and always has been at Parma. The environment is very nice and is well suited to a couples date night. Although Parma has halted its valet service - parking across the street is very convenient.
We were so taken aback at the 50% off wine list for date night.
This is no deal. We use to get a bottle with date night. Then they switched to a half price bottle of wine. These wines at half price were reasonable. Now they throw the wine list at you with wine with almost every bottle over $100.00. This is not a great choice. Hope you can change the 50% off a bottle of wine to wines that are in a price list that makes this Date Night a good deal.
We love the food at Parma and the patio. Saturday was a beautiful night and we waited 20 minutes for a spot outside. The Date Night Menu and the 1/2 priced bottles of wine are great. Our server messed up our order and then disappeared for a long while after dessert. The Mosquitoes came out and started biting after the sun went down. I had to track down the server to get our tab.
Wow, not sure what happened to Parma 8200. They've discontinued the live music, slimmed down the menu (no meat/cheese plates?!), and the service is becoming questionable. We've been there many, many times but it's lost its charm. I'd love an explanation of why a drink on the bar menu is not available 20 feet away in the restaurant. I can get up from my table in the restaurant and walk to the bar and order a Light and Stormy but our server cannot bring me the same item to our table? That's ridiculous. Surly Lonely Blonde is on the bar menu, is that not served that in the restaurant? There are many other very good restaurants (i.e. Kincaid's) within a mile of Parma. Sadly, we're crossing Parma off our restaurant list.
To be fair we did a very early dinner as we had a show to go to...so atmosphere was lacking. The food was fine nothing spectacular and the service was fine. No real connections and no extraness to the experience. It's expensive for basic dishes that showed no real depth. Probably is great lunch place and maybe later in the evening it gets some character.
We had been to Parma a few years back and had a good experience so decided to have a celebration dinner there because it was close by. We were very disappointed and will likely not return. Although we had no complaints with the waitress, who was very attentive, nor the other staff we met, there were problems with cleanliness of the glassware -- we had to send them back as they had dried food all over them. They comp'd us our corkage fee -- which was nice of them, but it was a little disconcerting as you then become concerned about the cleanliness overall. The menu was fairly uninspired and the food just average -- nothing to write home about. The ambiance was dark and felt dreary. It felt like you might feel in a place where a few months later they put up an "out of business" sign and everyone kind of knows why. I hope they can pull it together and that our experience was an anomaly. Unfortunately, we won't be back to find out.
We went to Parma because the food is good and the ambiance is nice, I just wish the music was a little louder and the main dining lighting a little darker. We took advantage of the Date Night special and it was well worth the price, taste and portion size were great. My only minor gripe was that although our server was nice, she wasn't very inviting or invested in our table. She did quick "drive-by's" to re-set our silverware and bring drinks. I don't love a server that talks too much but I like when they are sincere about our dining experience.
Because our last experience here was outstanding, I booked reservations for Mother's Day. My daughter and her family arrived first, and they didn't have our reservations. This was curious becauseI had my open table reservation for 5:30 and Parma had called us in the afternoon to verify our reservation. The confusion
Our family loved this restaurant's Mother's Day brunch. Even on a crazy busy day the service was excellent. Multiple servers brought food simultaneously to our table of 15; served family-style. Everything was hot and fresh. Plus, special requests for the kids got handled immediately. Everyone at the table agreed the food was great. Pricing was average for a special Sunday brunch.
My husband and I will look forward to coming back for a quiet evening together.
