Taste a slice of Italy at the Parlor Suburban Square. This family-friendly bistro offers classic Italian fare, with a menu built around delicious crowd-pleasing pizza and draft wine. For a hearty treat, try the beastmode pizza, which comes topped with calabrese, salcissa, mozzarella and oregano. The menu also includes salads and pasta dishes. Happy hour at Parlor Suburban Square runs from 4.30 to 6.30, and comes with great discounts on wine and bar grub, such as sliders, brussel sprouts and tasty wings.
With its airy space, cozy lounge and laid-back vibe, the Parlor Suburban Square is a great place to enjoy a casual lunch or to hang out with friends or family for a few drinks.
I will miss Parlor Suburban Square and more importantly the wonderful people who worked there. Melissa Z, the GM, is phenomenal and more importantly a good person. I also will miss Chef Rich, Pat and Greg. I will follow each of them wherever they each end up.
I just got back from Florida for the summer
Had a great meal. I asked for Rob
The server said that he there during the day
No one said about closing the next day
I was so disappointed on Tuesday I couldn't make reservations so I went by
Only to see the doors locked
This was my go to place during the summer .my entire family from Florida is going to miss this place.
You will be missed!!!!!!
The restaurant will be missed
Another wonderful dinner at Parlor Suburban Square! This time I tried the spaghetti with shrimp (I actually switched out the spaghetti for Campanelle) and it was DELICIOUS!! All the pasta is home made along with the bread and pizza dough.
They continue to add to their menu. The new salmon entree looked very good!
Special thanks to Melissa and Chef Rich for always making the night special.
Just back – again – from Happy Hour / Dinner and it was better than ever.
The ambience is open, modern, and not loud or cramped – whether you choose the bar, bar booths, open tables in the dining room or banquettes. It is fun to see the Operational Pizza oven at the back of the restaurant, but don’t be misled – there are many other food options.
Their Happy Hour is extremely good – great inexpensive wines, tasty wings, sliders, Brussel sprouts, and a new offering – very lightly tempura battered cauliflower (delicious)! The pita bread is excellent – warm and fresh from the oven. They also feature salads (try their Cici salad), as well as burgers, pasta etc. – all served in a prompt but unhurried manor. The pizzas are very good – and they will accommodate your requests. (We like our pizza fairly crisp with a thin crust).
A special jewel is Melissa, the manager. She is extremely personable and sets the tone to insure that all customers have a truly superior dining experience. Kudos to Melissa!!
There is a diversity of people dining, depending on the time of day. Business people, chic professionals meeting after work, families dining early with their young, sports lovers watching the bar TVs, and trendy couples just enjoying a great meal together.
Now that the weather is warmer, we can’t wait until the outside patio opens!! There is also a Sunday Brunch.
the spaghetti w/shrimp was execellent . the pizza was fair. too much noise because the music was so loud making the people talk over it.
Parlor is a good neighborhood restaurant. Food is good, not extraordinary, and is reasonably priced. Not loud. Ambiance is pleasant.
Seated promptly for early Saturday night. Food & portion size was large. Wife & I shared salad & had enough to take home. I had a large serving of mussels in a tasty tomato broth. My wife had a burger which she said was very good.
They did the whole meal right: drinks, appetizer, entre, dessert and service. All first class.
Delicious food and friendly staff. In addition to fantastic innovative pizza, we shared three different salads- all winners. Tasty and light.
Very unique pizzas and specials
We've eaten outdoors here in the nice weather and really enjoyed the food and ambiance, so we decided to try indoors. The restaurant is nicely done, with large windows overlooking the outdoor square and simple, comfortable furniture. A large brick pizza oven dominates the restaurant side, with a pleasant bar opposite. Our server was very pleasant, and we started with some very tasty calamari. There is a very nice wine and beer list. Our wine choices were good, but unfortunately the first two draft beers that my son chose were out. The server was very apologetic but it was bit surprising for a Saturday evening and the night before the Super Bowl. My husband and I had salads and pizza, while my son chose pasta bolognese, all of which were tasty. However, overall service was slow, and the pasta dish was served much later than the pizza and salads. I would go back again, hoping the service improves.
Very disappointed with service. 4th time eating here, will not be going back. Each time service has been poor. Servers appear undertrained and are consistently overwhelmed and food service is always slow and disorganized. This time, took too long to take drink orders, then came back with a question, then took too long to bring drinks. Apps took too long. Our 3 entrees came out 1x1, 5 minutes apart each, with the 3rd, a pizza, having to be remade due to a oven problem, arriving much later. 3 tables seated after us, ate well before us. Manager did come by and pizza was free with an offer of free desert (which we declined b/c did not want to wait). Even after all this, server said would return to refill water and never came did. Not professional enough, not a good experience at all. And I am easy to please.
I had a business lunch here recently. The wait staff were friendly and courteous. I ordered one of the pizzas. It was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would go back if I had to be in that area again. But I wouldn't make a special trip just to go there.
Their happy hours deals were great. The Margarita pizza was yummy, the crust was super crispy. We got there at 5:45 which was perfect because we got our order in before the crowd arrived. Service was nice, friendly and attentive without being overbearing which was perfect for our date night.
We had a service issue where entrees arrived immediately after our appetizers. The waitress and manager both handled it beautifully, and we had a very good dinner.
Another fantastic experience at Parlor. I was there today with a good friend and Parlor did not disappoint. At Parlor, its all about people and great, homemade food. The brussel sprouts and calamari were outstanding. We tried the pizza special, Chicken Parmesan Pizza......it was HEAVEN!! I hope it makes the regular menu.
The best part of Parlor is the people who work there and run it. Melissa, the GM, is fantastic...such a people person. She's quickly becoming family. Our waiter, Greg, was phenomenal. He was always there asking if we needed anything and has a great personality.
On the way home, my friend couldn't stop talking about her experience and wants to plan another visit there very soon.
We recently visited Parlor at Suburban Square for the first time and were very pleased. Caesar salad, mussels and trout with fingerling potatoes were all excellent. We plan to return to try out their delicious looking pizza.
A simple, delightful meal for four. Pizzas were excellent, salads were satisfying as well.
We have been to Parlor three times. Each time the food has been delicious and very fresh. The appetizer meatballs and the squash/panchetta pizza were amazing!! The staff has also gone out of their way to accommodate our family including an infant. I'm so happy they took over in Suburban Square.
The previous restaurant at this space, The St. James, was a mess. The mainline needs more good food places, so I am hoping Parlor is successful and helps elevate the scene in the Ardmore/Wynnewood area. Unfortunately, I have some doubts after dining at Parlor. Nothing was terrible about the meal, but will definitely look at other options before I go back to Parlor.
For apps, we ordered Calamari - which was a bit rubbery and flavorless.
The Mussels in the Cioppino broth was also flavorless.
The Caprese was the the best dish of the night - the Burrata and tomatoes were refreshing with the tasty balsamic.
The Mafalda Bolognese was also flavorless. The pasta was cooked nicely (not overcooked), and the meatballs were good, but a bland sauce made for an overall below-average dish.
We also got the Fun Guy pizza. It was OK, but some parts were overly salty. Vetri, Stella, Zavino are all better options for this type of pizza.
Service was good.
Perhaps Parlor is better suited for lunch? The concept is good - simple menu, good for families, small and large pasta portions, outdoor seating. But execution is off. The menu seems like a patchwork of items, rather than a cohesive one. Nothing stands out and nothing is calling me back for a second visit. I hope that changes..
Waited almost an hour for our appetizers. Main courses were brought to table at different times. And two ignored specific requests. our server disappeared and then seemed to ignore us. When asking for help from other servers, they would take our request, but not fulfill them.
Food was mediocre at best. Just a bad night.
I have been to Parlor many times and it's usually great. This was the first time ordering the Sasquatch pizza and let me tell you, it's amazing. The only thing off was the Calamari. It was clearly frozen and it was way, way, way overcooked. Almost inedible. The service here is always pleasant and the wine list is nice.
Parlor has become one of my all-time favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is delicious, but most of all the people make it a very special experience....Melissa (GM), Rob (owner) and Pat (waitress extraordinaire) are fabulous and such great people persons!
The restaurant was bright, airy and very friendly. Truly enjoyed the food and the service was very good.
Second time in a row we had terrible service. First time they were crowded, this time not at all. We waited. No one paid much attention and hostess or whoever she was that seated us was rude. Good came at different times. 2 of us finally ate bc our food was getting cold. Then we watched the other 2 eat. Service alone makes me second guess coming again.
We had a fantastic night!! My daughter has celiac and everyone was very knowledgable and accommodating !! We will defiantly be back!! Excellent meal.
The best !!!!!!! quick lunch wings and a side order of flat bread delicious
The staff excellent
Wings, Cauliflower & Pizzas are always good!! its a greta local spot!
It was the second time we've been to Parlor, and maybe because it was a Sunday, the service and the accuracy of our order was really poor (although the food that came out correctly, eventually, was good). The kitchen, which was short-staffed, got several of our orders wrong (3 out of 5 people in my party), they forgot items, under or over-cooked some, and didn't get the gluten-free item, which they specialize in, correct the first time. The waitress was wonderful and apologetic, and the manager eventually came out and admitted they were short-staffed in the kitchen, but it was still inexcusable.
We will probably give the restaurant another try, as our first meal was perfect, and the owner really seems to be trying to improve food and service!
We had frequented Parlor when it was also St James. Something about Parlor wasn't right. This was our second time there and the first time was a lot more vibrant. There were a good amount of kids/families which I wasn't expecting. The beers are also $8 for the crafts, which is ridiculous. The food overall is good, but not great. We would go back with set expectations if we were shopping there, but wouldn't seek it out.
Went as a family to eat at Parlor forthe first time. My wife has been there multiple times and raved about the Pizza. Once again she was right - my Margherita Pizza was amazing and her "Fun Guy" Pizza was even better! Also great were the dessert S'More and Nutella Pizzas.
Our kids had the burgers and fries and those were very good as well. Ambiance was great - nice people there and totally helpful and cool - even changing the tv channel to the playoff game for me. Oh - the cauliflower appetizer was a special treat..
Last days of Fall, are outside, ordered wine..didn't get it! Mussels & salad were good.
I ordered wine again, did get it this time..no acknowledgment of missing it..
Like it out side, the food is just OK.
It is so hard to find good food in the suburbs - but this place is it! Great burgers, salads, pizzas. Good place to sit at the bar and just have a drink, as well.
Parlor could be a gem, however it needs to work on its organization - host/hostess and food. We came later on a Friday night with a reservation. however no table was available and the hostesses were very disorganized. There were four of us and we had a drink while we waited. We sat outside, which was lovely due to the weather and live music. When the food arrived (3 salads and then pizza we were underwhelmed. The salads were very good, but our pizza was over done and dry.
This place has a lot of potential for the outside seating and music. We will give it another chance for that reason. I'm sure both the service and the food can be better.
Overall the place is good, not outstanding in any way. Our server did a great job when the place was busy and seemed understaffed. Our Margarita pizza was good, but the Sally pizza was underseasoned. There are not a lot of options and the competition is already tough with NYAJ around the corner and Besito coming. A seasonal menu perhaps or specials would be a welcome addition.
Once our waiter warmed up to us, the service improved and made for an enjoyable lunch. The pizza we shared was pretty good, too.
We had lunch on the patio. The food was great, as was the service.
Superb as usual cici salad ,sasquash pizza and the wings
