We showed up early for a 8:45 reservation, we finished shopping early. Checked in and asked if we could be seated earlier; the hostess acted like we were from another planet for asking. We sat in the lounge and ordered some wine after having to repeatedly ask for a waiter. No attempt was made to seat us, after and hour I asked about a table, there were plenty of empty ones, the host acted indignent and rebuffed me for asking, said my reservation wasn't until 8:45 (it was 9:00). I guess it was just his way of acting for forgetting us.... I paid my bar tab and left. I'm not a novice to dinning out. This is not sour grapes.... they behaved poorly.
I'm not one to give 5 stars without being floored by everything. However, the service was top notch. The rest was as expected and a bit pricey for the serving size and taste.
Very nice upscale restaurant with interesting menu items. Dishes are prepared and cooked perfectly.Drinks are quickly delivered and well made. Excellent service - well trained staff.
Food was excellent the waiter was attentive and helpful .....they have there own gardens where they grow produce and herbs
we had a great lunch . Tha ambiance is warm and inviting , there is carpet and the tables are spaced so you can here yourself speak.
We had 5 people in our group and we all loved our meal .....the portions were generous and well .
I came from Northridge, and met my friends from Redlands. Another friend who lives in Pasadena recommended you to us. It was absolutly PERFECT!! What a find!!!! I asked on line for a table next to the fireplace - and that's where our table was, to everyone's amazement. The ambiance was fantastic, the food delicious, the service impeccable and the over all experience was prefect. "You" even presented us with an orchid branch.. What a lovely place to meet. I promise to come again, as often as I can. Thank you.
Server Tara on Sunday Night was very rude and inconsiderate. Seemed to be polite to other tables during her shift, but for some reason did not like us. It was a shame, my wife and I came to celebrate our anniversary and have a memorable evening but it was a shame to be ruined by inconsiderate service.
Appetizers and Salad were very good, the Tuna tartare and Scallop Salad were excellent. My prime NY steak was overcooked to medium well, but since my server was nonexistent I couldn't have it returned. My wife's lamb chops were average, overcooked and underseasoned.
For my special occassions I will be returning to Houston's down the street, it has much more consistent food, better prices, and friendlier service.
FOOD IS EXCELLENT. WE WERE SEATED VERY QUICKLY. WHEN OUR FOOD CAME ONE OF THE PLATES WAS NOT WARM SO WE SENT IT BACK AND GOT IT RETURNED IN A TIMELY MANNER. OVERALL IT WAS AN ENJOYABLE EVENING AND THE DESSERTS ARE FABULOUS!
Other than being the best spot in the LA area for dinner. You are never rushed.
This is a fantastic restaurant with every detail in place. The bread basket is imaginative, the food is delicious and the ambience is both romantic and friendly at the same time. Live music adds to the charm (Friday night). Service is perfect and attentive. It was my friends birthday and they gave her a cupcake with a candle as a surprise and a small bunch of purple orchids, which is a brilliant touch.
We dined here 5 years ago, had a great waiter, great food, great service. Had same waiter and another great evening.
Parkway Grill is my favorite restuarant. I've been at least a half a dozen times and it never ceases to impress. I love fine dining and to me Parkway Grill has set the standard by which I measure all other dining experiences.
This is the third time we have gone to the Parkway Grille for New Year's Eve and this is the third time we were stuck in the small dining room away from the main restaurant where the room is nicely decorated and there is music. I made this rservation bak in early November and we were very disappointed that they again stuck us in this small room.
This is based on our New Years eve dinner. Service very good. Restraunt looked fantastic. Food on the other hand very disappointing. Our ceasar salads appeared to be prepped very early in the day. Lettuce was very cold and limp and had no flavor. My son and I had the lamb for $41
What a mess. His lamb was all fat it should not have been served. The plate was very confusing with potatoes, tomatoes and some cheese maybe blue. None of it went together. Wines by the glass where very good. I will give them the benefit of the doubt due to New Years but we where disappointed by the food.
I submitted a short one for 1/3/13. Nothing different.
Although we had an open door reservation, the male host tried to sit us at the worst table. It was right next to the kitchen door and you could not get in or out of the table unless the folks at the next table got up to let you in and out. When we said we did not like the table, the host told us that the table was great and people always asked for that table (not true). Another guest agreed and said "I don't blame you, that is the worst table in the place". We were given another table, also not great but better. Needless to say, it spoiled the whole evening as we watched other parties of 2 being seated at tables with much better locations.
excellent food and service will eat there again
Not our first visit, exceptional,as usual!very accommodating to our request
I have been going to the Parkway Grill for many years.During the holidays I brought some friends and raved about the restaurant.I felt I overplayed my experiences because the service was terrible. Our waitress seemed put out by her job to serve. The room was freezing due to a broken heater.I didnt understand how they could actually serve people in their restaurant in December during the holidays with NO heat in a brick building. The restaurant was closed all that day, there was no excuse in a restaurant of that price range......None!
Really a wonderful evening in every respect. Derek is a great server. I had inadvertently booked for Dec 29th instead of the 28th and the hostess was very gracious in changing the reservation on the spot with no hassle.
A restaurant that has survived passing trends in dining by its consistently attractive and enjoyable dishes and ambiance, Parkway Grill is always a pleasure!
I have been to Parkway many many times and have always had a wonderful experience. But this past time I had the worse service I have ever had there. A friend and I went there for lunch and ending up spending over $150 so we weren't being cheap. The waiter we had barely spoke to us and never checked to see if we were okay
I had to flag down another waiter for a refill on my drink
My friend and I were both well dressed and polite. We did notice that the older gentleman the waiter was serving seemed to get excellent service from this same waiter. Food was excellent as was the rest of the staff. I was very disappointed to say the least.
Atmosphere is very nice. Holiday decorations were elegantly done and made for a very comforting environment. The service was good. They have a solid wine list but unfortunately did not have the particular years of wine I was looking for. I've been to this restaurant a number of times but find the food underwhelming. You go to this restaurant for the atmosphere. If they could get a world class chef, this place could be very special.
Food is excellent. Service is just great. Love this place! And for those of us coming from the Westside to meet people in Pasadena, its location is VERY convenient.
In Sept I made a reservation for Christmas Eve. We arrived on time. After waiting 30 minutes we were offered a small Bisto table in a high traffic area in the bar that would not sufficiently seat the four of us. We agreed to wait for the next table. After waiting another 20 minutes, we were not given the next table in the dining room and told the host to take our name off the list. His response was callus and rude. He was unwilling to take responsibility for the restaurants poor bookings and spoke as though we were the problem for not accepting the small table. The food and atmosphere here are generally quite good but we were treated atrociously and will think twice in the future before spending the expected $300 for dinner.
Excellent food but service seemed rushed. I felt they were trying to turn tables as fast as possible.
Went here with the family for dinner. Great time, great food and service.
Always our first choice for a great dining experience and on special occasions.
We had a fabulous time! Naz, the bartender, made before dinner drinks really fun. The atmosphere was perfect. A great romantic date!
Great experience and great food.
As always, the menu selection is exceptional. Something for everyone - perfect foodie dinning experience.
I have been going to Parkway for many years on to celebrate special occasions. It has never disappointed me. At holiday time especially the atmosphere is so lovely and festive it would be hard to find another restaurant as appropriate.
The food and decor are always great.
The food and service were top notch!
The price have raised which are more expensive than what we expected.
Went with 2 High School girl-friends to enjoy the holiday decorations and treat ourselves to a nice lunch. We had a wonderful time!
Met for a business lunch and the Parkway Grill was perfect. The service was outstanding, we were not rushed, noise was not an issue, and our meals were perfect.
From the moment we stepped up to the front door, we knew we arrived at a special place. The service was fantastic. Once the waiter found out we hadn't been there before, he treated us to a popular appetizer! The manager stopped by to see how everything was. The attention level to top notch service was impeccable. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!
This is the best overall restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley IMHO - terrific food and excellent wine list, cool ambience, festive atmosphere. I've been back many times and continually bring out of town guests here as everything is consistently top notch. The best of the Smith Brothers restaurants
Fabulous food and very attentive, but not over-attentive, service. The wines even by the glass were excellent. We had a lovely evening. Try the bacon-wrapped figs with brussels sprouts appetizer!
They changed the luncheon menu and we were sort of disappointed but the salads are remarkable and everything was good- just not exciting. We have eaten our CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON here for years- the decorations, service, mnanager and food was great- just not the selection on the menu this year. The entrees are usually more exciting-- was too casual for our occasion.
