This restaurant is permanently closed. The Parkside delicatessen building was built in 1896 with an addition a few years later. Eventually the deli and grocery became a café and soon a full service restaurant. Rumors and stories from the original owner Joe and other owner Tom include everything from the family living above and hidden alcohol gatherings during prohibition. After prohibition the Parkside was one of the first applications to the state for a beer and wine license. As years went by the Parkside developed a following for a favorite lunch spot and great steaks, prime rib and Tom’s catfish for dinner. Being located by Columbian park brought awareness and nostalgia to the restaurant and became a “Neighborhood Gem” or favorite spot for people wanting a cold beer or the elites of Lafayette that desired great food.

Delicious seafood. My husband always thought he hated crab until he tried the king crab. Manager was extremely welcoming and accommodating. Fairly expensive but worth every penny.

Great food. A bit pricey, but worth it, particularly for a special occasion. Good selection of dishes, and everything tasted wonderful.

Fresh seafood is the best

Not only was the food, especially the crawfish, shrimp and scallops very mediocre, my dining partner's portion was so small she had to fill up on bread and butter. The quality of the seafood being served had definitely gone down hill from the quality experienced with the prior owners.

Wow! Best Ahi Tuna I have ever had. Accompanied by a parsnip purée it was cooked and presented perfectly. My girlfriend and I started by sharing a Caesar salad and she followed with shrimp and grits that were beyond great. Of course we finished with our favorite key lime pie. We can't wait to go back, thanks Parkside for a great evening.

Great birthday place! Will be back soon for next celebration! Craig is an awesome host and Kelly is the best server bar none! Great attention to details as well as us! Excellent experience and highly suggested if you love seafood.

This was our fist time at the new restaurant after the change in ownership. It was clean, bright, and nicely decorated. We arrived at our reservation time at 9:45 pm on a Friday night. We were the only ones in the place. Our waitress, Kelly N., said they were very busy earlier in the night. There were still a couple of people out in the Beer Garden. I would assume that is the latest they take reservations. The service was excellent. Kelly N. did a fantastic job tending to all of our requests and needs. The chef, Craig Henderson, came to the table a couple of times to check on us and that was nice. Food was very good. We shared the shrimp cocktail ($12.00) which was excellent. The wife had the clam chowder soup ($6.00) and she said it was the best she has had in Indiana. (it even had a real Clam in the soup) She also had the Organic Wild Isle Salmon ($27.00) and that was a 10. I had a Lobster roll, mix sandwich ($22.00) and was good. We shared a Caesar salad ($6.00) and it was freshly made and good. My wife had the Creme Brulee ($6.00) for desert and it was a 10. We had two (2) sprites ($4.00), One (1) Ice Tea ($2.00) with tax for a dinner total of $90.95 + tip $18.00 = grand total of $108.95. I would rate the food and service a 10.
