Parkside Rotisserie & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our server was excellent, and food delicious (I had steak frites and friend had the new lamb shank type dish). Love the front room seating new the bar (not so much the back seating area because it feels out of the bar action). Great work Parkside keep it up, we will be back. (You are pulling far ahead of Red Stripe now in my opinion). Love the location and the buildings (nearby also). Jay R Providence
My husband and I went out for a rare date
( We have two little ones at home and seldom get out!) We reserved a table before hand and there was no wait although the restaurant was packed. I highly recommend reserving a table online. We both got the filet mignon which was out of this world - melt in your mouth delicious. The service was outstanding and the crowd was lively. The only bummer was that our drinks were watered down. My Sangria tasted like fruit juice and hubby's rum & coke was weak to the point where he sent it back. Other than that I highly recommend Parkside!
Discovered Parkside 3 years ago while surfing O/T Providence. Reviews were very positive, so drove down from Boston and had a memorable meal with outstanding service. Two subsequent visits were close to that standard. So, a return visit the past weekend was an easy decision. It was also a bad decision. Both the food and the service were abysmal.
Colossal Thai Dumplings were greasy, misshapen blobs of fried batter stuffed with chewy meat. Barely edible.
Rotisserie chicken entree appeared to be either a 1/2 or 3/4 of a chicken (portion unclear because it, too, was badly misshapened--and tough, to boot) and sat upon a large serving of limp, oil-soaked French fries, and the food was covered with a gooey brown sauce. This entree was to be accompanied by a house salad--which arrived midway thru the meal after two requests made to the waiter. It was tasteless and sloppily assembled on a plate.
The second entree--pork tenderloin in a soupy mixture with some shellfish (?)--was tough and inedible.
A beer arrived in a can with no glass. Took two requests to receive a glass.
2-3 other simple requests were forgotten or ignored.
One of the waiters--maybe feeling remorse over our poor experience--said dessert would be on the house. The banana tarte--about which the waiter raved--may have been the worse dish of the nite. The pastry shell tasted like paper and the filling was an affront to bananas--truly horrendous. To add insult to injury, the check arrived with a charge of $9.00 for the tarte. So much for "on the house."
Performance of this waiter and two colleagues was amateurish--clearly unready for prime time.
Left more than 1/2 the food.
What's extraordinary is that the entire experience was a continuum of incompetent service and apparently disinterested, exceptionally poor performance by the chef/kitchen staff. When one is spending $100+, much more is expected. Restaurant mortality runs high. Will never return.
Was very impressed by Parkside. We were a party of 6, including 2 kids, and they did a great job. Overall I thought the place was a little cramped, definitely a lively Saturday night, but we had plenty of space at our table and the food was superb. Great cocktail list, great menu, would definitely go back for appetizers at the bar or a special occasion.
We hadn't been to Parkside in a few years and thought we'd try it. The food and the service were great, although the entrees weren't as gourmet as I remembered. The restaurant was crowded and extremely noisy. The entrees were a bit on the pricey side. A party of four that was seated next to us, after 10-15 min. asked to be moved and their silverware, napkins, and glasses were left on the table for the next customer. That is, until we said something to our waiter at which point they re-set the table. Just thought you should be aware.
This is probably my wife and I's favorite restaurant in Providence. We've been here a few times and it's always great. My Uncle, Aunt and cousin were in town from Indianapolis so we chose to eat here. They'd never been to Parkside R&B, and they were more than impressed.
I decided to get a steak, and not only was it delicious, but it was enormous! I could barely eat it all, even though I wanted to eat and eat and eat and eat! My wife got some halibut special they had and she loved it too.
I love this place because it's food is always incredible, the service is always warm and accommodating and the restaurant is loud and fun. You can hear everyone around you enjoying themselves as much as the others. It has an old world vibe, with a sophisticated and modern twist.
Can't wait to eat there again soon.
Not the best experience we've had at Parkside. I ordered my salmon "medium rare" and it was pretty well done. Also, while not the restaurant's fault, the foursome at the next table were obnoxiously loud - shrieking, hysterical laughter. Not sure what anyone could have done about them, but it did spoil the experience. We probably would have ordered dessert, had it not been for them.
We hadn't been to Parkside in a few years and thought we'd try it again with friends who had never been. We were all impressed with the food, service and ambiance.
We were surprised it was a little slow for a Friday night, but it could not have been for lack of trying on the restaurant's part. I'd definitely recommend Parkside for an excellent dining experience!
Went during water fire this week. We had a great experience. Keep in mind it is very loud inside but the food overall was extremely delicious. I had a swordfish steak special that was to die for! The others had scallops amd the rotisserie chicken. Everything was very good and we will definitely return!!
Have had a couple of good meals here but this week we were disappointed. The haddock fish was overcooked and dry and the fingerling potatoes were raw in the middle. The cost for 4 people worked out to be $54 per person, with only one appetizer ordered, 2 glasses of wine, no dessert, no extra beverages.
At the bar, I had the worst martini I've ever had and paid $15 for it. The drinks we ordered with dinner were fine, but somewhat one dimensional.
The food was wonderful and our server was very attentive (perhaps just a little too much, but not annoying by any means). It was quite loud, but luckily we were seated in an are that cut some noise.
I would go back, but make more informed decisions about drinks and timing to better spend my money and deal with less noise.
My wife and I wanted to have a little celebration after the birth of our first grandchild. We were able to get a reservation at the last minute. Table was ready for us after a few minutes of arriving. Specials are always unique and wine, service etc. made a very enjoyable time.
Reservation honored immediately. Friendly staff. Waiters are always amiable. Food is excellent with good portions. Restaurant has a cozy feel. Ran out of a hirer grade of champagne on a graduation weekend which was surprising. Would appreciate a burger or chicken finger entrée and chocolate ice cream to be added to menu for adolescent patrons. Overall its a wonderful place and each time we go there we enjoy it.
