Parkside Rotisserie & Bar Ratings and Reviews
I would say not their best night. I went on Open Table to make a reservation at Parkside for a special event dinner with my wife and was pleased I had many choices of time - 7:00, 7:15, 7:30 or 7:45. I chose 7:15 and we arrived five minutes early. The gentleman at the front told us it would be just a few minutes for our table and suggested we take a seat at the bar. After waiting 30 minutes I went back and asked if we were close. He clearly had forgotten us, as we inquired if we were a table for four. I corrected him and he said it would just be another minute. Thirty more minutes went by and now, when he had to walk other diners past us while we were seated at the bar he almost comically worked to not make eye contact. Table after table turned over, but not for us. So at about 8:15 we asked the bartender if we could eat at the bar, which we did and it was fine. But, seriously, what's up with this? Either they took way, way too many reservations than they could handle or he wasn't taking customer service too seriously. Either way, it was not the evening we were looking for.
We went for lunch during Providence Restaurant Weeks on Friday 1/19/18, and it was very nice. Our appetizer was "pork wings" - a sort of pork drumstick with sweet/sour sauce which was very tender and very good. I had the lobster tortelloni, which were very nice; Partner had the chicken pot pie crepe, which he said was excellent and very inventive - a rethinking of a classic comfort food with a gourmet twist. We both had the beignet Foster for dessert, which was delicious. Service was excellent. I hadn't been here for some years, but I will definitely go back soon.
We went for the first time on New Years eve. We were a party of 6 and though we had an 8:15 reservation they were absolutely packed. It did take us quite a while to be seated but the entire staff couldn't have been any more apologetic. We completely understood that because of the freezing cold temperatures and the fact that it was New Years Eve, nobody was getting up from their tables. That being said the food was incredibly delicious from the appetizers to the main course... EVERYTHING was a big hit. We all cant wait to go back on a regular night. Totally worth the drive from Massachusetts
My sister and I found Parkside on a Web search for "restaurants near me" after spending the day in Providence. We made the earliest reservation for 4:30, happy that we didn't have to wait around until 5pm when many of the restaurants start serving dinner.
Parkside was warm and inviting on a very chilly night and, with my sister in agreement, the beginning of many more great food experiences with more family and friends (most of whom are great home cooks and/or have worked in the restaurant/catering/food service business) who appreciate great food, great dining.
We split the trio of huge fried dumplings served w/hot mustard and s&s sauce on , this appetizer pleased on every food level...taste, texture, quality and freshness of ingredients, presentation. Soooo good. The organic pork rack dinner on roasted root vegetables was as satisfying and delicious as the dumplings.......we kept saying how "happy" we were with every bite....and at the end of the meal....and on the ride home.
Our waitress was spot on with the service, helpful about the specials and menu questions we had, she made our experience all-around 5 star!
We're looking forward to a January visit!
Never disappointed when we dine at Parkside! This time we went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the choices were. They had rotisserie specials which are always delicious as well as other lunch items in addition to sandwiches. Great place.
I live in Boston. Asked my cousin, who has lived in Providence all his life to recommend a place for lunch. I was meeting a friend from FL who was up just for the day. Only criterion was excellent food. His only suggestion was Parkside. Excellent, and very reasonably priced. I'd go back anytime.
Mussels appetizer included yummy broth, great for dipping the bread from the breadbasket. Crispy salmon lived up to its name and elegantly presented atop delicious lentils. Evening special of halibut also nice and crispy...fingerling potatoes surrounding dish reminded me of sausage! Meals so filling no room for dessert.
Excellent all around. Great cocktails, truly inspired appetizers, fresh ingredients. The service was perfect, timely, not intrusive and knowledgeable. Ambience is truly adult oriented and seating is comfortable and allows for quiet conversation. A great pleasure to dine here.
We recently 'rediscovered' Parkside after not dining there for several years, and have now had 3 excellent dinners there over the past few months. The dishes are interesting and tasty - everything from the roasted duck salad and Bistro Burger to cashew chicken, Korean short ribs and nightly specials, the portions generous, the service pleasant and prompt, the cocktails imaginative and the desserts worth leaving room for (if you can). Try it, or try it again, if you haven't been there for awhile - you'll love it.
