Parkside Rotisserie & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We recently 'rediscovered' Parkside after not dining there for several years, and have now had 3 excellent dinners there over the past few months. The dishes are interesting and tasty - everything from the roasted duck salad and Bistro Burger to cashew chicken, Korean short ribs and nightly specials, the portions generous, the service pleasant and prompt, the cocktails imaginative and the desserts worth leaving room for (if you can). Try it, or try it again, if you haven't been there for awhile - you'll love it.
Everything was perfect! Absolutely loved my duck breast, beet & arugula salad. My husband & daughter each had the filet & loved them (& they shared - it was good!) We asked for a quiet table & were given a table at the far end of the restaurant - perfect!
Waitress was knowledgeable & friendly.
Couldn't ask for more - we'll definitely be back!
Parkside is long time favorite! Always consistent. Always flavorful. This time we had the Thai Dumplings which were fantastic (as usual). The Kale & Quinoa salad was fine but not spectacular (could have used more dressing). The Halibut and Pork Loin were absolutely wonderful! Our waiter (James) was courteous, fast and always quick to help out. Don't shy away from the Parkside. They won't let you down!!!
The service here is always excellent. Our server, Denie was top-notch. He is a classic- and demonstrates the true skill in restaurant service. A light sense of humor... an easy way of offering recommendations, an understanding of when to come
over and when to leave us be. And best of all, he gave us the impression that he had all the time in the world for us, even tho the place was packed and clearly he was busy. Just so good at his craft. Thank you!
The staff couldn't have been more accomodating. We mistakenly booked a table for outside dining, but they managed make room for a table for us inside. The waiter, James, was very attentive, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. We were all blown away by the outstanding meal, atmosphere and overall experience. Also, I was surprised about the free valet parking, especially being right in Providence. Highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you very much for a great experience!
We went for a double birthday celebration, and although the food was good, the service was absolutely horrendous. It took 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink, we had to send one dish back, the waiter was MIA most of the evening, and there was no coffee/tea offered when our dessert came. In fact, we appreciated the birthday candles in the two desserts brought to the table, but we didn't get to select them - we were just given cheesecake and chocolate cake. Two other people would have liked to order dessert but it was not offered - the waiter took off after one person in our party mentioned we were there to celebrate two birthdays. I had wanted to try Parkside for years, but when we finally did, I was pretty disappointed.
This is a warm and inviting space where there are plentiful choices on the menu, including great stuff for vegetarians. The grilled baby octopus could actually motivate me to drive the 45 minutes from home just to have it again! Service was attentive and the value for money spent seemed high.
A+++ in all categories! The Parkside Rotisserie and Bar was my choice for a first-time Date with an out-of-state gentleman. A friend suggested Parkside. I added a note along with the reservation, asking for a quiet corner where my Date and I could easily hear one another. Our corner table was perfect as was the service and food/drinks. The valet service was also easy and ran by delightful personalities. Needless to say, I look forward to returning!
P. S. My date was thrilled with my choice; and I was delighted with my Date!
Not sure who the chief chef is but he/she is creating phenomenally delicious recipes. Great food and menu. And superlative wait-staff service. (I think Caroline or something like that--just married anyway, i do recall that. Great smile and super upbeat.) I think Parkside is now the best bistro in Providence. And love the old room (wood and bar) and old town near river location. Great job keep it up Parkside!
PS We were a bit late for our reservation and the maitre d team still fit us in asap--Thank You, they were great too.
We went on Waterfire night so we were not surprised that the restaurant and bar was crowded and noisy. We were seated only a few minutes past our reservation time. We were promptly greeted by our waiter, offered drinks and appetizers quickly.
The hostess and wait staff looked a bit flustered by the crowds and difficulty of moving around the restaurant.
Our food came out quickly, yet we were not rushed at all. My dinner, spicy rotisserie chicken was very good, my wife had a pork tenderloin with littleneck clams (same bowl in a broth) was full of sand from the clams. We never sent food back, but did this time as we were afraid she may lose a filling! The waiter and manager both came over to apologize graciously (we were not upset) and offered my wife a complimentary glass of wine while she waited for another meal to be prepared...another chicken dish. The wine was a nice touch.
Our waiter recommended the tart for dessert which sounded great. We ordered it and it took an extremely long time to arrive (25 minutes), but was delicious. The waiter again apologized for the delay and the dessert was also comped. He told us to come back another night (not waterfire) for a better experience.
We've eaten at Parkside many times and will continue to return. The food is normally excellent, the service is always very good and the vibe and energy is always fun. This night they were a little out of sorts but it was to be expected as they had huge crowds and also squeezed in about 8 outdoor tables which they were balancing. Good job by them to comp us on a couple of things...it was the right thing to do.
We went here to celebrate our friends anniversary. I love steak tartare, and this is the ONLY place I know of that serves it. The tartare was okay, but it was served with soggy home made potato chips. The food was disappointing, except for the thai dumplings and the chimichurri steak. The steak was good, but the chimichurri was almost all oil. The rest of us had the statler chicken and the lemon garlic rotisserie chicken. Nothing special and not flavorful at all. Our friends really like this place, but we could do without. When I had made the reservation, I mentioned the anniversary. Dinner was so disappointing that we really didn't want dessert. But our waiter brought out a nice dessert with a candle, which I thought was very nice! So we ended on a good note!
