Parkside Rotisserie & Bar
What a HUGE disappointment. We went for Restaurant Week without realizing it as we go there often anyway. We decided to try the Restaurant Week menu and it was terrible. We couldn't believe how bad the food was... undercooked lobster and shrimp, watery and too much mayonnaise, tired lettuce, old fried donuts and old bread with tasteless oil. Gross. This is a place we have frequented often with friends and family, have recommended the place as well and now wonder how in the world could it have been so terrible! Normally it is pretty good but now we don't know if we ever want to go back again. No one wants to spend good money on lousy food. I was embarrassed for the servers that they had to even ask how we liked the meal.
Had dinner before Waterfire. Great location for this. Had reservation outside but ended up inside, which I think is better unless you are ensured to get one of the their tables near the front of the entrance if it is Waterfire, they extend tables too far down sidewalk on Waterfire. Menu was extensive with lots of good choices. A variety of salmon dishes that all enjoyed. The cold salads are good. Extensive wine and beer list. very vibrant crowd.
Food was outstanding. Clearly a popular place, so a Saturday night during WaterFire is expected to be busy and the restaurant is tight with only two small bathrooms. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating and again, the food was fantastic!
great experience. perfect location for water fires. we will come back.
Wonderful, creative food, better and more interesting than most any other restaurants we have tried in the past year...and we eat out often on Cape Cod and in Boston.
This is not the cheapest dinner but you don't usually get great food (or anything of quality) cheaply.
We hit the sweet spot with Restaurant Week in Providence, a 3 course dinner for $35. Many other entrees were in the $30+ range by themselves, so this was a good deal. A few cheaper options are on the menu, such as a nice hamburger for $16 if that's what you want.
Our adult daughter and I enjoyed a hefty Pork "Filet Mignon", a thick boneless chop that was deliciously marinated and wrapped in bacon, served with chunks of sweet potato.
My wife enjoyed a swordfish entree, that arrived in a large bowl with some littleneck clams and linguica, served with some halved cherry tomatoes in a tasty white wine sauce.
The location of the Parkside is perfect, just a few blocks off I-195's Exit 2 and right across the street from a park along the riverfront. We chose this dining venue for its convenient location for WaterFire, but would go back there anytime we return to Providence in the future.
Free valet parking is offered beginning when they open at 5pm, but be aware that later diners were disappointed when the valet lot filled up and they were left to fend for themselves on a very, very busy night in Providence.
Be aware that the seating inside is very tight and pretty loud. We were glad to have made reservations to eat outside at a sidewalk table. Perhaps the inside crowd is smaller on a non-WaterFire night? Can't say, as this was our first visit.
If you are going to WaterFire, be sure to make *early* reservations here; 5:30pm worked out well for us in mid-July, allowing a leisurely dinner and time to walk the riverfront up to the lagoon where WaterFire begins and has the best photo opportunities. Diners who arrived after 6pm were lining up on the sidewalk outside.
Everyone at my table had a different meal, one had duck, another filet mignon, scallops and chicken; and everyone said that food was fresh and flavorful. The restaurants a bit on the pricey side, but for the area and food it’s good for a special occasion. The interior design and service was great, my only complaint, which is not the restaurants fault, is how loud it was.
We are regulars at the Parkside, we love the food, atmosphere, bar scene and good service. We met friends and sat at the middle cozy booth, Jillian was our server. We ordered the specials- Prime rib and Tuna dishes- they were very good. We love the Banana tart for dessert! I would recommend sitting at the bar for dinner too- Mike, the bartender takes great take of us too!
Special occasion and received special attention from waiter Danie. He is great and truly professional. Food was off the chart making the whole evening very special. Thanks.
My wife and I make this a regular spot. The great curbfront valet service, the small, cozy and comfortable interior, and the “normal”, but different food options work for us. I’m not real adventurous food wise, but I feel I can step out of my white bread pallet with little risk.
Too noisy but otherwise good.
Been coming to Parkside many times over many years. It is one of the overall best and most consistent restaurants on the Providence scene. Order anything...can't go wrong. Simple grill provides good value, but the entire menu is excellent. Go...you won't be disappointed.
Excellent service from our waitperson (I am very sorry I don’t recall his name, but he was first rate as always at Parkside). Veal chop special was superb. Best ambience and location of any bistro in Providence or Rhode Island overall. Keep up the fantastic work Parkside. We will absolutely be back.
As always fantastic dinner and drinks reasonably priced and great service
I have been to Parkside a number of times and the food is always great. However, the service is mediocre at best. Management should take the time to train their servers to provide the type of service that aligns with their food and prices. I am actually thinking of ordering takeout next time to avoid the crummy service.
We enjoyed the simple grilled salmon and delicious sides of spicy corn and asparagus. The octopus appetizer was fantastic, as was the chicken with grits. The Sutler chicken was disappointing but our server gave us a credit so we left happy. Excellent service, great place for a large group (we had 10).
We had a superb evening. The food and service were excellent. Highly recommend!!!!
Excellent meal and outstanding service. Blackened cod and lobster ravioli were superb. Highly recommend
Went for a friends dinner on a Thursday evening- the chicken dishes were amazing and the salads perfect! Our waiter and quick service was wonderful! Can’t wait to go again with my husband
We made a very last minute Open Table reservation. A family member remembered Parkside as a great place for chicken, and she suggested changing our plans. I had one of the specials, the halibut, and it was very good. A nice crisp seared crust and very delicious fish. Another dining companion had the beef special and he also really enjoyed his meal. The family member who ordered the chicken was less happy, but likely because she ordered the more sticky half-chicken dish, and she doesn't love spice. My only complaint is that Parkside was very loud. I don't got there often, as Providence is an hour away from our home, so I don't know if it was just the crowd that night or not, but it seemed like it is generally loud. We had a table of 12 next to us, who didn't care about other diners, but even after they left, while quieter, it was hard to hear my dining companions. I'd go back when in Providence, but would ask for a quieter spot. The service was good and our server was pleasant.
This was a pleasant surprise. I made reservations on open table reviews and availability. It was PC grad weekend and restaurants were jammed. We went to dinner 3 times that weekend and this was our number one. Our first restaurant was Castle Inn at Newport. Super fancy and super expensive. It was very nice. But this restaurant was comfortable and the food was equally exciting and tasty. I would definitely recommend.
All four of us were delighted with our meals~especially the salmon and the Coq au Vin ~ so flavorful! The restaurant was especially beautiful that evening ~ we wanted so much to linger but we had tickets for a show and our server, James, got us in and out just as we requested ~ He made excellent suggestions for both entrees and wines and made sure we had everything we needed ~ We'll be going back soon!
This was where my boyfriend and I had our first date so we come every year on our anniversary
We always have a great experience and this time was no different. Our bartender Mike was spot on and the food was awesome! We are going to make it a point of coming more often
My Mother's Day dinner was wonderful! The special Halibut was delicious, as well as the Oysters. The Service was good, being a busy Holiday, our wait staff Jill & Denine were very attentive. This is our favorite go to Downtown dining experience, we highly recommend
Initial reservation was for 9. They were able to adjust it up to 10 at the last minute, and service was top-notch. The daily specials (Lobster Tortellini & Mesquite Prime Rib!) were outstanding, as was the menu staple: Bouillabaisse (Oh My!) I can Highly Recommend this restaurant, even though it can be quite exuberant and loud.
Great food and excellent service for a group of 12. Price was great, too. It was a very enjoyable lunch.
Wonderful ambiance, food tasted great, menu items sounded great. Will return to try other meal offerings. Great wine selection
Just simply wonderful evening
Great meal. A bit loud but it was a very nice dinner!!
James was an excellent server and all of our food was excellent. Will be back!
Great food but noisy. We made reservations stating we were celebrating a birthday but no one ever mentioned it
As usual, Parkside delivers! Great food and service in an upscale casual environment. The menu is very tempting, with lots of great choices. But somehow, I always end up ordering the Statler Chicken. And honestly, I don't know why but their French Fries are so delicious! It's crazy.
This is a true neighborhood gem. I have been coming here for years. Always fresh oysters , great cocktails and the rotisserie chicken never misses.
Went on Easter Sunday as we were in town to drop off our son at school. Felt like we were left at the bar though our table was ready. some of the staff seemed pre occupied with some guests. In any event the main room seemed very loud but we seated in back near their open kitchen. Unfortunately the staff in kitchen made no effort not to the bang the pots and pans around at times even tossing them. This was distracting at best. The appetizers were good but main course was just ok.
Never go there on a holiday. We had reservations and waited at the kiosk 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Once seated NO ONE came to the table at all for at least 20 minutes. Finally the maître de came over and apologized. He asked if we would like a drink. After we reminded him 15 minutes later he brought our drinks and said they were "on the house for our inconvenience" ( which we were still charged for at the end of our visit and he was no where to be found). Our waiter finally came (he was over taxed with tables, one with 14 people). We had our meal and my husbands second drink came after the meal was over. Food was very good as usual but service was inexcusable. The table that left shortly after we sat expressed a similar experience. Parkside should either hire more staff or limit reservations. Ruined the holiday!
Always an excellent meal here. Service is exceptional.
We stopped in for dinner and we had a great experience. The food was good. The service was excellent. Dini (spelling) our waiter was excellent, funny, friendly and ensured we enjoyed our time there. Check it out and try the Grilled Octopus. Won’t be disappointed. Calamari was good too.
Great food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, very busy so we had to wait 45 minutes beyond our reservation to sit.
Atmosphere was good but very loud. Service was very good. Beer menu was not up to date didn’t have half what was on there. No bread with the meal. Limited menu. Pricing was extremely high for the portions. Total bill was $120 not including tip and that was for two people. One drink each, one small appetizer, meals, and one dessert.
Went here visiting RI from NY because my son wanted to try it.
The place was beautifully appointed and comfortable. We went early because we had a show to catch. The service was attentive but not hurried.
My son ordered orange duck and he loved it. My husband got the cashew chicken. The sauce was delicious and he enjoyed it. I ordered the special, pork bracciolo. It was tasty but as I have wondered, if it would be dry, it was just a little bit dry, the outside of it but the pork belly inside was moist and the fig sauce complimented it well.
Oh, we got the mussels and frittes for appetizer and was very excited that they did the frittes perfectly!
