“I have dinner 5 or 6 times a year in Parker’s. It is always a pleasure. A quiet, civilized environment with very courteous and experienced wait staff. Relaxing background music. A serious and comfortable place to have dinner with no gimmicks.” Daniel Greco, Salem, MA
We ordered two filet mignons....which were comparable to a chain restaurant. Not quite what I expected from the restaurant JFK proposed at. However, the service was superb.
It was very good, but didn’t change my life. We loved the Price Fix menu for pre-theatre folks. A plus!
The Open Table description said a jacket was preferred, so we almost didn’t book. We checked with the concierge, who said jeans and a nice shirt were just fine. Everyone looked very nice in business casual and dressed up denim.
Would definitely recommend!
We were a party of 4 and we went because we wanted to try the Boston Cream Pie. They have a Pre-Theatre Menu for $48.00 per person so it seemed like a no-brainer to us. First, the room is very nice. It is an old time dark wood room. It was very beautiful. The bread and butter was delicious. The butter was at that perfect temperature where you can actually use it and not kill your bread.
I wanted a sweet drink because I like sweet drinks. My waitress was unable to tell me which drinks in the new drink menu were sweet. They had a graph and she didn't know how to use it. I ordered from the "Fruit" page and my banana drink was good, but not very sweet.
Two of us ordered the clam chowder and it was good. It was served hot which we like. It had chunks of potato and lots of clams. Next to the bread it was the best thing we ate. The other 2 had the Caesar Salad. They said it was nothing special.
For entrees 2 of us ordered the Ribeye. It was ok, but very fatty. The potatoes were undercooked and hard.
My friend said the Butternut Squash Ravioli was very good. My husband asked the waitress which entree was the best and she couldn't answer his question. He ended up ordering the Salmon and he said it had no flavor.
So for dessert we all ordered the Boston Cream Pie. It came nicely plated with chocolate and raspberry sauce. The sauce was delicious. The cake was not delicious. It was dry and there was very little cream. It's Boston Cream Pie, it should be loaded with cream.
This was a one and done for all four of us.
We knew the history of the Parker House so while we were visiting Boston we knew we needed to eat here. We were all very happy with this decision. I had the lobster grilled cheese, which was absolutely delicious, and the other 3 in our party had salads and were thrilled with them as well. The salads were large and very fresh, definitely a meal. We finished our lunch with, of course, Boston Cream Pie and it was the best dessert I ever had. When I visit Boston again, I will definitely come back to Parker House.
Ambiance was nice and service was great. Ribeye a bit overdone. Went there for wife’s birthday (mentioned it in the reservation) but it was never acknowledged. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.
My mom and I ate at Parker’s while on vacation on Boston and had the best time! Everything was first class. I had the Boston Schrod which was amazing and finished with the Boston Cream pie. The food was amazing, and the service was top notch. I’d definitely suggest you eat at this historic Boston landmark
Good chowder, amazing shred and boston cream pie, parker house rolls didn't amaze me but brown bread really good
I ate there twice this past week and the "Hostess" at lunch, when we did not have a reservation, but politely asked if we could be seated in a clearly empty dining room, and a "Host" at dinner, when we did have a longstanding reservation, were both cold and indifferent, to the point of being rude. But once we gained entrance, the wait staff was wonderful, the food very good and the ambiance very pleasant.
It was my wife's birthday dinner and, we were treated extremely well. I've always felt that the food can be great but, nothing can save the experience if the service isn't up to par. The food is very good and, the service was excellent.
One think I'll say that could be better is to have a dress code. This used to be a jacket and tie restaurant. The ambiance would be better if at least shorts, flip-flops and non-collard shirts were not allowed.
Old school charm and elegance is still around. The hotel and restaurant are absolutely beautiful. The food was exceptional as was the service thanks to our server, Francesco. We told him we weren't in a rush so we ended there for almost 3 hours exactly how a dinner in a place like this should be. He regaled us with hotel history and listed off past patrons of the Omni. He was truly a delight. We will definitely go back when we visit Boston again!!!
It was a fantastic birthday dinner. The food was amazing and the service was equally as good.
The environment was perfectly quiet, the room beautifully lit, with very light conversations in the room, and the servers understood that and kept their discussions quiet while friendly.
The food was delicious, and the service was friendly, I have nothing critical to say. Thank you for the great dining experience!
The restaurant continues to be extremely consistent in providing a first class experience with an amazing staff
My husband and myself are visiting Boston for our birthdays both in September.
Parker house was a great choice for our dinner.
The food was great we both had Scrod for dinner. Very large portions.
Such a nice touch for our birthdays they gave us a decorated Boston Cream Pie. It was the best.
Don't go for the food. The history and atmosphere are amazing. Food is very average.
It was the epitome of old world elegance but not out-dated and quaint. It was my first visit, and from the front doorman (Jackson) to our departure, I was charmed by everything! Will be back soon, I sincerely hope.
The Dine Out lunch was excellent. They served some of their specialities, like French onion soup, Parker House rolls, Boston cream pie. The dessert was skimpy (small portion of pie and ice cream), but everything else was excellent.
The Parker Restaurant is classic place with excellent food. The service was very good.
My husband and I tried Parker's Restaurant as part of Dine Out Boston Week, so this is based on the prix fixe menu they had for the week. For starters I had the prosciutto and fig salad which was really lovely, followed by the roasted chicken, and their signature Boston cream pie for dessert.
My husband had the clam chowder and the shrimp scampi.
Overall all the food was very good - I believe the portions tend to be smaller during Dine Out Week, which we were expecting. I probably would not have been satisfied with the portions if that had been the regular price (so I'll assume it was for Dine Out Week only).
Despite it being good, I don't know that it was all that...memorable. A solid meal, I would probably bring my older in-laws here if they come to visit, they have something for everyone, but it's not exactly adventurous from a culinary standpoint. The only negative comment on the food is that the scampi had way too many whole tomatoes - to the point where it was a bit overwhelming.
The decor is absolutely beautiful - intricate woodwork, beautiful carpeting and upholstery, very traditional.
If you're looking for something to please those who like a traditional, Americana, upscale experience with comfortable food options, this is a wonderful place for guests and visitors.
As far as returning as a local? I think there are still more interesting places to discover.
Food is ok, servers are nice and friendly, this place is quiet, it’s good for date and special occasion.
Lillian our server was tremendous. The food as usual was outstanding. The ambiance and class of the dining room make it the best Boston dining experience.
Very lovely setting. The wait staff was very professional. The Boston cream pie was exceptional and the highlight of the meal.
It was our first visit to this Boston classic. The food and atmosphere were terrific, but the service really put it over the top. Thanks!
It had great food and service and ambiance was wonderful
excellent old school, traditional new england/american food. How can you go wrong at a restaurant that has multiple well known foods that originated out of its kitchen including parker house rolls and boston cream pie. They still do a great job with classic food in a classic environment
It was our first time at Parker House. My mother-in-law loves history and we thought it would be a great place to take her. We went for brunch. Prices were reasonable, out food was delicious. Our waitress was great and the support staff were very accommodating. Great overall experience.
Classic old Boston. Great breakfast place, business or pleasure.
Wonderful meal and service (Francesco??) would be 5 stars if a designer could brighten the room- such a beautiful room but “heavy” decor makes it somewhat spooky
Home of the Parker House rolls and Boston Cream pie. the shrimp was terrific. Sat next to the JFK table. Will be back again.
We were seated at the Kennedy table, and had a lovely dining experience. Francesco was our waiter and he was engaging and attentive. All four of us enjoyed our entrees, and we ended the evening with some delicious Boston cream pie.
Excellent service and tasty salads! Parker's is a great place to meet for a business lunch. We were seated at a table where we were have a private conversation and enjoy lunch. Jackie and the service team were great.
Lovely dessert of the original Boston cream pie. The waitress was so kind and attentive and did not rush us.
The boston cream pie was incredible. The chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables were fresh and had great flavor.
A great spot to relax and enjoy lunch with friend!
Best dining in the city, food is consistently great, staff provides the best customer service. A fabulous dining experience
Always a great experience. The food was elegantly prepared to perfection! The waitstaff are very friendly, professional and tend to your every need. I was pleased...again!
The scrod was phenomenal. Other dishes good but thats the best. Order that and the Boston cream pie. Trust me!
We were really impressed with the overall experience. We were especially pleased with the service provided by our server, Francesco. He deserves special kudos. Additionally, when we arrived there were only about 15 people in the restaurant but just after we were seated, a group of 35 people arrived for a farewell group dinner. We initially were concerned that our service would suffer accordingly. However, we were wrong and appreciate the fact that the restaurant staff handled everything so well. There was no lessening of service and our meal was a total delight.
This place is awesome the scenery, the food wow... I got the fillet mignon and it was bomb lol. That’s my new spot!!!
Outstanding service in this historic restaurant. Food was very good. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and the Pre-Theater price fixed menu is an excellent value. We would eagerly return next time we’re in Boston.
