About Parker's on Ponce
Owned by brothers John-Thomas and Christopher Scott, Parker's on Ponce is Decatur's first independently owned steakhouse. The Scott family has always been extremely involved in the local community, including local government. The restaurant is named after John-Thomas' 12 year old daughter, Parker. The whole family is often seen at the restaurant - it is not a business to them, but a home - and they treat guests of the restaurant as family as well.

Parker's on Ponce Ratings and Reviews
The host staff was very disrespectful. We had reservations and arrived on time, the restaurant was not crowded but we had to wait 10 minutes before we could be seated. Another group came into restaurant and was seated immediately while we waited. Then my wife and I were seated as far back of the restaurant near the restrooms while there were plenty of empty tables in other parts.
I will never eat their again due to the lack of respect from the hostess staff.
Parker’s has become our go to place for special celebrations. While the atmosphere is inviting for the everyday diner we live an hour away and the food makes it worth the drive. We celebrated my in laws anniversary and they have not stopped raving about it.
We have been to Parkers on Ponce many times and have always enjoyed. The service is very good and not being "bugged" by the server. The food is excellent and never had any compaints.
Simply put, this restaurant is one of the my best.
The only drawback is the parking. There is an idiot who walks around the parking lot with hand out and asks for $5.00 for the parking spot. He doesn't do anything, doesn't say much and when asked what he does, he simply keeps his mouth shut. It would be much better if there were meters instead of this guy as I am always wondering if he is going to break in to any vehicle. Street parking is the best, but not always lucky to find a spot.
We visited from out of town and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Parkers. It's in a fun area of Decatur and there are many options. We have tried a few other places but Parkers is the best. Everything that the table ordered was exceptional. Most of the table had steaks that are as good as or better than a high end steakhouse. We had a table near the kitchen but it was still very nice with multiple fireplaces and ambiance. We will be back.
My first visit and I don’t know why. Four of us celebrated my birthday in style. We shared the Grilled Slab Bacon appetizer, the thick cut bacon is made and smoked in-house and was accompanied with baby arugula, picked shallot, and orange-balsamic glaze.
My wife shared the Spinach salad with me. I’m a sucker for candied pecans! The miso-lemon vinaigrette checked the sweetness of the pecans.
Parker’s is a steak house but offers seafood and other ‘lighter’ fare. I chose the aged USDA Prime Ribeye though the bone-in Dry Aged Kansas City Strip was tempting. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and had the flavor I desired.
We shared several sides icluding the fries, sauteed spinach, and the Maple-Miso Glazed Fried Brussels with Apple slices. I’m not a fan of Brussel Sprouts but these wete superb!
A dining pleasure and I will have to come up with another special occasion soon to return to samle the seafood and maybe the Black Truffle Mac and Cheese.
The restaurant staff was amazing and our server was very kind. My only issue was the food came out cold twice but was quickly fixed when complaint was issued. The food was over priced for what it was unfortunately. Wine selection was limited but great options. Not sure if I’ll be back :/
Took my daughter to Parker’s for her birthday. From walking in and the friendly greeting to an attentive waiter the service was great. The suggested wine was great and the “lollipops” ribeye was delicious! They gave a choice of desert on the house for my daughter’s birthday. She had the vanilla bean cheesecake which was Devine!
We love Parker's. The food is always exceptional and the staff is always responsive. We seldom dine there without one of the owners or managers coming by to ask about our meal. Our favorite is the cheese plate. This changes seasonally so we get it often without getting tired of it.
The waiter was really good, liked him a great deal. Sadly, my steak arrived cool but I believe it was due to the added au jus. The chef cooked me another one that was done to perfection with the au jus on the side--much better. Unfortunately, my appetite was gone by then and I wound up bringing most of it home. My husband's and daughter's entrees were delightful.
The service was excellent. The waitress was attentive. The food not so much. My husband had the mahi-mahi which was horribly dry and over cooked. I had the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was all a gooey melted together mess. To compensate they gave us a free dessert but we won’t be back.
I reserved this dinner for my boyfriends birthday out of a few other restaraunts. When we walked in I was told that all of the tables that would comfortably seat us were taken and that we would be able to choose our seats at larger tables because of this matter "We arrived on time so I didn't understand this at all, Isn't that the point of reservations?" Our waitress was pretty good! She made me an excellent mocktail, explained the menu very well, and answered all of our questions. Things didn't go south until the end of our dining experience. In my reservation notes I said that we'd be celebrating a birthday and that I'd like the staff to be able to bring out the house dessert and help us acknowledge it! I mentioned this note to the hostess upon arrival and didn't want to touch on it again creating the obvious in front of my boyfriend. I thought that the message would have been relayed. Anywho we made light of the restaraunt singing and celebrating someone elses birthday and mentioned that the "birthday man" could get whatever he wanted while dining throughout the night. At the end of our meal our waitress brought us our check and made light of the situation she said "Were you guys celebrating anything?" and I said "Ofcourse, My boyfriends birthdaty" she then said "Awww you should have told me earlier- in a 'yeah whatever' kind of way-" . I looked at her and kept it moving in my mind to keep from getting really upset because she then asked us what dessert we'd like. Not only had our food taken forever "I guess so that it could come out at the same time" But you could tell the order in which each plate had finished and mine was the coldest. "I despise cold food" I was so taken back by the wait that I refused to send it back. We chose a seat at a table by the bar because they had live music near by .The muscianist was absolutelyl the highlight of the entire experience. I have no intentions to go back again. The lack of attention to many minor details added up.
Each time visit, Parker’s on Ponce, the experience is pleasant and the food is intriguing. However, this time I was only dissatisfied with the presentation and taste of my meal. The salmon entree I had, appeared and tasted burnt, especially the Brussel Sprouts. I could not enjoy them.
The steak frites I had on Friday evening were tough with a good amount of gristle in it. Other than that the rest of the meal was good. One dislike I have about coming to Parker's is that now you have to pay to park and then come in and eat. We eat at another location in Decatur and when we park we get a ticket which the restaurant affixes a sticker to so the parking is free. With the slowly increase of the price of the food and the amount to park, it is becoming increasingly unappealing for my crowd to make Parker's a go-to place.
The food was Magnificent, Steak and Salmon was cooked to Perfection. Our server wasn’t Warm and Fuzzy, did not seem eager to serve. We made reservations with Open Table and gave instructions that it was a birthday celebration. When we arrived we were asked if we were celebrating an occasion, we answered “yes”. During our visit the staff didn’t offer a Birthday Wish nor did we get a complimentary Birthday Cake. What’s the point of the inquiry if your establishment doesn’t recognize your special occasion.
Very pricey. I honestly could not taste much difference from going to a Longhorn Steakhouse. The steak flavor was just ok and the scallops again were just ok. The parmesan grits we're not great, however, the spinach and tomatoes were very tasty. The waiter could be more attentive but the minimal approach was not enough to give bad marks per session. The creme brulee tasted more like pudding, as well as the texture. Close your eyes and the pudding is excellent. The front windows were filthy, including high up panes. This is not a recommend from me.
