Park West Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Myself and 3 other friends met for dinner at PWT. When we walked in - the place looked promising with decent décor and what seemed like a lively bar scene.
We ordered a couple of appetizers - the spring-rolls and the calamari. The spring-rolls were OK, but nothing to write home about. The calamari tasted fishy and we had to send it back.
For entrees we ordered the pasta w Bolognese sauce, a hanger steak, a burger and the short ribs.
The pasta was good - but I found the pork based sauce a little bland. The hanger steak turned out to be a philly cheese steak and not a steak. The philly cheese steak was rather small and was average at best. In addition, it was ordered with fries but arrived with a salad. When we asked for a replacement it arrived 10 minutes late. The burger looked good and was pretty good and would have been the only menu item I would consider reordering. Finally the short ribs were not fall off the bone soft and dry and we had to ask for more sauce.
We decided to pass on dessert.
All in all - many mishaps with average and below fare and OK service.
Considering the many other options in Ridgewood - we won't be back.
Anytime someone asks me what is your favorite food in Ridgewood, I usually always say Park West Taven. If you are looking for a great burger or steak this is the place to go - but if you need a Gastro Pub meal this too is the place to go. Or if you are simply looking for a decent piece of fish - again this is the place to go. I come here for the Wine and Beer list, the service and the atmosphere - toss in valet parking in a neighborhood difficult to park and you have a GEM. I would even recommend this location to Private Parties. I have had two 50 PLus Parties in their loft upstairs. On this occasion, we had Burgers and Fish and everything was perfect
Our Ridgewood friend recommended Park West for a small family reunion brunch on a Saturday. We had a lovely gathering and the restaurant staff provided us excellent service and a table in a quieter spot in the restaurant which made conversation easy and audible. Food was delicious as well. And the hostess graciously accommodated us by taking numerous photos of the group with a variety of phones! Thanks so much to Park West for your kindness to us. We do not go to the PWT often, because everything is so good! It's not just a place that you'll just get a little something. The cocktails are delish, so you'll have to have one of those. Then you flip the menu over and you know everything is going to be so good you will want to try more than an entree, and you'll be happy you did, but it ends up being $. Always a lovely experience - the staff are all great, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. It makes our short list of places that we know is going to be great every time.
Very loud even thought we said it was a date night and the restaurant was half empty. They cleared tables away to make room for live music while we were still eating and made us very uncomfortable with the staff standing over us so we left. Will not recommend.
Overall, it was good but I think it is a bit pricey. I ordered the steakhouse burger which is $20 and I ordered it medium. It came out almost well done so if you are charging $20 for a burger then make sure it's cooked to order. My wife enjoyed the seafood special which was grouper and we enjoyed the dessert. Service was very good.
Really excellent food and service. The oysters were a great start. Had a 9 year old with us, who is on the cusp of adult/kid menu. She ordered the hangar steak and mashed potatoes for $8 off the kids menu, and it was like and adult meal! The ahi tuna salad was amazing, not what I expected. Salmon delicious also. Service friendly and helpful.
Food and service was excellent. My husbands “cowboy steak” was a little smaller then expected ( tasted great and cooked perfectly). It also had a VERY small amount of “sides”. If you can call it that. There should either be a better serving of sides or an a la cart option
I've been here many times, and I've never had a bad experience, nor a bad meal here. The food is always top-notch, as is the exemplary service. Parking in Ridgewood is tough, so allow yourself plenty of time to find parking. I had to park 2 streets away and walk over, after looking for a spot for 20 minutes, so other than that, it was 5 stars.
The service was poor. We had to keep asking another server to find our waiter. Menu is mostly overpriced " bar food" .
Very very loud. We had 3 couples and we couldn't hear over noise from the large bar crowd. Do not go if you want to talk to your dinner companions. The food was so-so... they were out of all the " specials" and the meals were very overpriced for what was serviced. Thumbs down. There are so may better restaurants in Bergen County .
Park West has an imaginative eclectic menu that we find a nice break from the usual chain restaurant fare. A great beer on tap selection (diverse rather than large) adds to the charm. You can still get a burger (it's a good one), but exploring the more exotic selections will bring culinary rewards.
Our first time here. When we first walked in the AC was so cold but they were very accommodating and raised it for us. (Most people were wearing sweaters) Our service was terrific. We waited a normal time to get our food and when it came out, it was nice and hot. My hubby ordered the waffle and fried chicken - HEAVEN! I ordered a BBQ chicken salad, could have used more of the cheese, corn and other add ins. My lil one got the sliders and fries - cooked perfectly and fries were super yummy!
We will be back!
we were late fore reservation of 5 people and waited only 5 minutes to secure table - not that crowded for a Sunday brunch but this was the middle of the summer. Very good selection- food good to high average- had eggs benedict and english Muffin was dry and overdone.
