Park Plaza Gardens - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Had a valentines dinner with my wife. I could have made reservations at any restaurant on park ave. 2 weeks in the waiting and we spent almost 2 hours there for a lackluster lukewarm meal that was priced beyond what I would call fair I frequent the area and Burger Fi would have been a better choice. Lousy food with too much spice to conceal the flavor and the food came out lukewarm. I ordered the grilled pork chop which was over peppered and dry, accompanied by a lackluster side of brussel sprouts. My wife ordered the Estipati which was a giant skewer of raw filet and undercooked shrimp covered in an over salted gravy, with overdone French fries. Service was non existent and I had to express my thrill for leaving in order to get any attention. I might try it again one day but no time in the near future. Definitely not Winter Park quality I am used to. Go somewhere else.
We went there with three other couples and they gave us the most amazing private room!!! The atmosphere even in the main dining is romantic and stunning. It is by far our favorite restaurant in Winter Park and go there every time we visit Orlando. The prime rib sandwich and shrimp blt croissant were both ridiculously good. Everyone left talking about how much we loved the food!
Over the years Park Plaza has gone through many changes, but it is still just as wonderful as it was over 25 years ago.
The dining room is always decorated beautifully - it is a little more noisy since they changed the backs of the booth seats to be shorter.
I have never had a bad experience with a server - ever. I hope they are treated well by the restaurant because they have always made me feel very welcome and are extremely attentive.
Sunday brunch is my favorite, but lunch and dinner are fabulous as well.
Favorite dishes include but are not limited to: any eggs benedict, smoked salmon galette, curry chicken salad, prime rib sandwich, fried green tomatoes, five onion soup, and the filet.
Some people may consider it expensive, but I believe it is worth every penny.
The server was wonderful, very attentive. The food all tasted great, although the portions seemed small for the price. I understand it is a fancier restaurant, but I think the pricing could have been more in line with the plate that was served. For example, we ordered the cheese platter. For $18 something dollars it was a few pieces of cheese with some bacon and meat...between two people it was almost nothing. For $18 I'd expect a nice assortment of cheeses with meat and bread to go along with it, and a fair amount of it! However that's my only complaint. Food was good, service was good. Pricing...eh. Could be better
Visited Park Plaza Gardens on 6 Feb 16 for date night, using an Open Table gift card we received for Christmas. Was looking forward to a relaxing evening. The service was terrible. After sitting at the table for about 15 minutes, I re-approached the hostess desk to let them know no one had visited to even give us water. Our waitress was identified, and while apologetic, the service did not improve the entire evening. Our reservation was at 6:15 - we weren't finished until about 9pm. So disappointed, since the food was very nice and the ambiance was romantic. The problem appeared to be with our particular waitress as the other guests with different servers appeared to be getting served in a timely manner. May return for drinks at the bar, but that's about it.
My wife and friend recently dined at Park Plaza Gardens. We live in Virginia and always eat there whenever we are in town and have never been let down. This was no exception. I had the thickest pork chop I have ever ordered and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had four large shrimp stuffed with crab meat with a sweet potato puree. Our friend had oysters over linguine with a wonderful lemon sauce.
The musical part? A husband and wife team were recording a music video (camera, staff and all). They were wonderful and had all of us participate in the video.
Birthday dinner on a Saturday night, ate in the Atrium area, just beautiful. We had the salmon and the grouper, both were very good. Somewhere shortly after the appetizer of calamari, the service fell off. After finishing our meals, we sat with the leftovers for quite some time before someone other than our server came over to take them away. No apology for the long wait. By this time, rather than having desert, we were ready to leave. Disappointing.
Very slow service, the server was on her first day, told us all about previous experience. Took way too long for main entrée, the fish was like rubber. Manager did take the meal off the check and sent another meal home with me. The fish was still overcooked. I don't think I will go back.
Sunday brunch was not fun. Food was excellent for all 4 of us. We had eggs Benedict, a quesadilla, a burger and an order of salmon en planchette. Bryce, our server, was very professional and excellent at his job. We ate in the back room, which has a nice ambience. The problem? We hoped to catch up with old friends near summer's end. But the room was so noisy we couldn't hear one another.
At first we were seated at a table near the room's entrance. It was so noisy and central we asked if we could move to the one back booth available. After a while they cleaned it off and sat us there.
A large party of women were finishing up at the next table.
We later learned they were Rollins College students and their moms bringing their daughters back to school.
Unfortunately, they lingered and lingered and lingered, even though they had finished and paid.
About 45 minutes after we were seated half of them left and the rest remained talking in the aisle. The noise level never went down. I tried to find the manager but could hardly squeeze by the group standing by their table. So I looked at one woman and asked her politely if they could either quiet down or move on. I mentioned I'd been out with a group of woman many times and realized how sometimes we don't realize how loud we are but please note that as part of two couples seated next to you we couldn't even hold a conversation.
She just looked at me.
Later, as they still hadn't moved on, we asked the manager if he could speak to them. We never saw him approach them. As we finished our meal the group finally left. The woman I had spoken to came by our table and asked us to understand how it is with college mommies leaving children behind. Ha! With 4 adult children between us and our friends, we've been there, done that. But since all in our party live close to Rollins we know how loud and obnoxious students can get. I'm sure Mommy would be shocked if we sent her videos of Rollins students having "fun" in Winter Park.
While our food was really good - the salmon and mashed potatoes cooked well, it took over an hour and a half for it to be served. We had to ask three times for the drinks we ordered. We did get drinks when we came in from the bar but the 2nd ones came really slowly.
There were about 8 people in the restaurant so we found this very strange.
It is a lovely spot but to spend from 6:30 to almost 8:45pm to eat was not so good.
Park Plaza Gardens was a wonderful place to celebrate our 10 yr. anniversary! The ambiance was amazing! We felt like we were in a beautiful patio garden, yet it was comfortable with the a/c. We got right in, and had the best table in the house. The food was amazing! We will definitely be back, and have already recommended it to several friends and family!
There were 4 of us celebrating my wife's birthday. First of all the service was nonexistent. From the start we had to get our waiter's attention for any service what so ever. The food, from the calamari appetizer to the main dishes, were tough, over cooked and my wife's steak was about 40% fat. A friend and I ordered the signature grouper dish. Both servings were over cooked and dry. I wasted $350 on our meals at PPG. It will take a lot to get me to return.
Food was disappointing. I ordered the Caesar salad with crabmeat. The lettuce was wilted and browned and the presentation was just okay. My five dining mates also had less than optimal food. The food here used to be very good and I'm not sure what changed. We had dinner here in conjunction with a paint night. It's too bad because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. It's very low on my list now. Atmosphere is still wonderful.
Service was outstanding. We enjoyed lunch there after a nice morning exploring the Polusek sculpture gardens. Being at this restaurant, felt as if we were still enjoying the outdoors because it has a wonderful skylight that lets the light shine it with lots of greenery around. Would definitely come here again with friends to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
Best egg Benedict in town. The brunch menu is outstanding . The ambiance was incredible . My son (20) and my daughter (18) with their respective significant others enjoyed the food . We are a foodie fanatic family and we are making plans to come back soon . A great experience!!!!!!!
