PARKVIEW KITCHEN AND SPIRITS Ratings and Reviews
Went there for last minute Valentine's dinner. That night's menu was very truncated and didn't have the items we might have ordered so we ended up with the Valentine's day special which was a 28oz porterhouse (came with peppercorn and bearnaise sauces), mashed potatoes and a stack of sauteed broccolini (excellently cooked/seasoned) for $99.
As noted in other recent reviews, the steak was over cooked a bit (came medium, we asked for medium rare) and both the potatoes and steak were a bit underseasoned. Easily rectified with just a bit of salt. Other than being overcooked a bit, steak had a nice beefy flavor which was the reason we didn't ask them to replace it. Sauces were good with the peppercorn sauce being excellent and the bearnaise being good not great (I make my own).
Finished off the meal with a flourless cake which was good. Service was cheery and excellent. Tipped accordingly (20%+).
Overall, it wasn't bad enough to actively avoid in the future but there are a couple other steak places we'd go before we go back to this restaurant.
Valentine's Day dinner... The regular menu posted online was not the Valentine's Day dinner menu. There were only 4 dinner entries on the menu, skirt steak, halibut, chicken, and porterhouse steak.... It was very loud... The bar area spilled over into the dining room.
Good note, my halibut was cooked very tender and my date got a rose when the check came.
Greeted & got our table upon arrival. Service (interaction with the server) was good -- but the food took a very long time to come out of the kitchen; no bread on the table - so was really hungry when food arrived). Once delivered, the food was delicious. I'll will be a return customer because of the convenience, professional atmosphere and the good food. But I'll re-set my expectation on food delivery timing especially if it is a business lunch.
This restaurant has really gone down hill. New Year’s Day saw a limited menu. I ordered the ribeye while my husband ordered the flank steak. The ribeye was much more expensive, and I had expected it to be a better cut of meat and seasoned better. There was a delay in getting our meals, which was a puzzlement because there were only two other tables besides ours and we ordered first.
Both of us ordered our steaks medium rare. Hubby’s came out ahead of time, which was to be expected since it was thinner cut of meat. It was tasty. Mine came out a couple of minutes later and was actually thinner than his, underseasoned, and overcooked. By the time we got the attention of one of the servers, the other tables had ordered and our re-order went to the back of the line.
By the time my dinner appeared, hubby had eaten his completely. Second steak was a vast improvement, larger, and succulent, but still underseasoned.
We did get a free dessert for the inconvenience, but it ruined our New Year’s eve dinner. We used to come to this restaurant for the great food and service, and now it seems to have neither.
The food, service and ambiance is good but this was the second time that they have brought the salad out just seconds or with my entree. I had to rush eating my salad in order for my food not to get cold. The waiters should wait for the salad/appetizers to be finished and taken away before bringing out the entree.
This was as good as last time; relative in town so we met here for breakfast. Very quiet vs the normal Sunday breakfast places that have lines out the door and waits of 30 - 60 minutes. The menu is limited but adequate. They delivered our food on time and hot. Overall a great quiet place for breakfast.
Cannot recommend this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was overpriced and not good! We ordered the daily special. It was fish that had a fishy smell when it was delivered to the table. It was cooked with ham and corn to likely conceal that fact that the fish was not fresh. We ordered bread that was dry and tasteless. My friend was charged extra for name brand alcohol in her drink that she did not order. I was charged extra for my drink for switching name brand alcohols. This would have been ok, if I had been told this was going to be on the bill. Sorry Parkview, we were very disappointed the entire meal from start to finish.
The server was nice, but didn't offer anything. We had to ask for everything. Things we ordered were forgotten. The app platter was missing one item. And the restaurant wasn't busy--only three tables during the lunch "rush".
Also not a lot of vegetarian options--there used to be more. Cocktails were the best part. Sad, because I've had a few great meals there, but probably won't return.
A somewhat limited menu, but the food was good. Service was so-so considering there was barely anyone there. However, it's a decent choice. Sitting outside means being 50 feet from a busy road, so that's thoroughly "meh" for outside seating.
Still, food was good. Prices were reasonable.
I have been coming here for over 2 years for business lunch since it is right down the street from my office. It has always had amazing service, food, and selection. Since it has gone under new ownership many of the great servers have left, the food quality has dropped, and the worst part is that the menu selection has been reduced considerably dropping some of the best menu items. It is hard to go here for lunch when they have dropped some of the basic salads that many of my colleagues enjoyed such as the Cobb salad, Tuna salad, BBQ chicken salad. Now they are trying salads that you would expect at a foodie restaurant and Park Place, I mean Park View, is not that type of restaurant. On top of that the quality isn't on the level of a high restaurant so why try and provide that type of menu selection. I had the halibut special the other day and it was very dry and overcooked with no true sauce so it was very bland in taste. I have had many complaints from my vendors that I normally take here about the reduction of menu items. So I may have to find another convenient lunch meeting place.
The flatbreads, house burger, flat iron steak, and sweet potato fries are still on the menu and are excellent, but the loss of the focaccia bread, salads, the wonderful park and fly special, soup of the day, limited variety in their special lemonade flavors, and the thank you for dining here take away of caramel bacon popcorn is very disappointing.
I hate to write this review because the restaurant and staff before new ownership have been wonderful to me and my guests. I loved eating here 1-2 times a week for meetings, but the last three times I have been here have been very disappointing and it is now impacting the quality of my meetings. I may have to let this restaurant go even though I enjoy the service of the remaining staff that have taken care of me for so many years.
The menu and food presentation seemed more appropriate for special occasion fine dining and business meals, but the ambience is akin to an upscale neighbor pub with large high tables to share and an active bar in the same room. I ordered a wedge salad with shrimp that was well presented (and among the few less expensive items on the menu). Bread or rolls were not included and conversation was difficult over the din of the bar. Service was very good.
An awful place - service was horrible - food was awful - I had a flatbread which looked like they had bought from Costco and microwaved it - servers were clueless, one pre-occupied with watching the basketball game, not paying any attention to what we were asking or saying - we had 3 servers, one seemed to be the one assigned / she would disappear for long - when she came back, would take forever to even bring a glass of wine - then when she came back, she had forgotten to bring a knife that we had asked for .... Will not go back this place - plain awful....
At Park Place (Now Juniper) is excellent neighborhood gem. You can have a fabulous Sunday breakfast or a delicious dinner date, either way, you will not be disappointed with the food. And though I am a teetotaler, I see they have an extensive wine list available.
So, we arrived 2 hours before our reservation due to bad weather pretty much killing our outdoor team building. The wait staff couldn't care less. We were seated immediately to my surprise! We ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were excellent and I would say better than my food. I order the NY Strip, but was delivered a Skirt Steak. Three (3) different folks apologized (which included the manager) and was promised a steak would be out quickly. It was, and unfortunately, it tasted that way too. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, but no seasoning whatsoever. Bottom line - I was happy with the evening and would absolutely go back to give them another chance to get everything right, because their mistakes were owned up to and attempted to be made better. Thankfully, all my employees meals were done properly and they thoroughly enjoyed the team building event!
Was very disappointed with the menu selection for the valentines day dinner we had. For how much we paid the quality wasn't there. The restaurant is nice, bar is nice, outside patio looks nice, and the wine we had was excellent. Would probably go back only for a few drinks and appetizers.
I used to frequently visit Park Place, over 75 times, and one week 4 times.
We asked for water and one of us ordered sparkling water. We did not receive the sparkling water.
You now have to request bread. The focaccia was stale but the other bread was adequate.
We noticed that there were hardly any choices to choose from on the menu.
3 of us ordered the $36 New York and the other person ordered the $28 fettuccine. The steaks were ordered medium rare and one was ordered medium rare towards rare.
The fettuccine and one of the steaks arrived. After 5 minutes, we told them to start eating as their food was getting cold. The other two steaks finally arrived. The server made a big deal and said this is the medium rare to rare steak.
We asked for more bread. The server then brought out more state focaccia and said sorry there wasn’t anymore of the regular bread.
We started eating, my medium rare to rare steak was light pink to brown- cooked medium well. The other two steaks were brown- cooked well-done. We were hungry so we continued eating. Not once did the waitress come back until we were almost finished with dinner and only had a small portion of steak left. I sliced up the steak and showed her my brown steak and said, I ordered this medium rare to rare but this is very overcooked. My husband said, we didn’t want to be rude and send it back but all of the steaks were not cooked correctly to order and also showed her his very brown steak. Also, the seafood fettuccine was super tiny. We have ordered this many times before and this was half the normal size.
The waitress left but did come back and said she talked to the manager and offered us two desserts on the house. We ordered the chocolate molten cake and the bread pudding. The desserts came out and while the cake was decent, it was not molten. It was solid warmed up yesterday's leftover cake. The bread pudding was also very dry and stale.
Overall, we were all very disappointed in the restaurant!
Burger with pork belly and fried egg was somewhat dry. It came with steak cut fries, it would have been better served with "skinny" cut fries. The macaroni size of my daughter's Mac & cheese was too big which takes away the creaminess of the sauce. Our server was attentive, warm and friendly. We will likely not return.
This was a chance experience and are we glad we tried it. The food was excellent the service was peefect. My husband ordered the Park Place Burger. This is no ordinary burger, it has a garlic aioli with pork belly , white cheddar and handmade and served on a brioche bun. He is a hamburger aficionado and this ranked up there as one of his top burgers ever. I ordered the Caesar Salad...authentic and made perfect added a skirt steak, that was cooked to perfection! We shared a aide of sweet potato fries. They were not too sweet like many often are and are handcut. Even my husband enjoyed them and he is usually not a fan. We had a couple of drinks and they were on point. It's not a super fancy inside- don't let that throw you off. The food is really top notch. Our server was friendly helpful and easily earned his 20%. This is also a part of the hotel Juniper and we took a walk and decided to add it to our list if should try places. Updated Art Nuvou feel...hip and classy. We will be back. Thank you Open Table Diners...this recommendation panned out quite nicely.
Something happened to Park Place about a year ago and it has been on a slow decline since. The menu, which had been generous in its' offerings is down to 6 or 7 dinner entrees, the wine pours by the glass are probably the smallest we have seen at a restaurant and service is really hit and miss. We have sat for extended periods of time after being seated before anyone asks if we would like a drink, we have also waited up to an hour for our dinner to be served. Although this past Friday the noise level was tolerable, not many people, it has gotten really bad at times and you can't even have a conversation with someone sitting across the table. The service is really hit and miss, sometimes too few servers for the number of diners.
The prices of the food are ok, the portion size is ok and the food is tasty. We were offered no chef's specials when we were there this past Friday, maybe they don't have them anymore. They had a pork chop to die for, no longer on the menu.
