Park Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Great food - very creative! Great service! Fun! We have been many times and always order and share the small plates. The food is prepared fairly quick. So you can order several small plates. Enjoy them. Then see how hungry you are, and order more, then repeat as long as you want right through dessert.
Several friends had recommended Park Kitchen to us and we were so pleased about our experience! From the excellent customer service (Chad!) to the exquisite selections for the chef’s supper choices, we were satisfied and satiated and ready to book our next visit by the time we left! The cornmeal pasta with eggplant was a delightful surprise, the tuna and shishito peppers smoky and perfectly prepared, and the desert....FABULOUS! We are excited to return on our next trip to Portland to discover what other culinary wonders await :)
A faded star; a pale imitation of what it once was. Sad to say, but the food quality, creativity and gourmet experience that was once a hallmark of Park Kitchen has badly faded. Uninspired and mediocre dishes. Odd (and stoned) service. Was our third choice but went because no availability a week out at our other options. That should have been a signal.
First the good news. I support Scott Dolich's decision to raise menu prices in order for employees to earn a better wage.
Now the bad news -- even though I'm a "foodie" who also loves to cook, there's something off-putting about needing a food dictionary just to understand the menu. How many questions can you ask your server before thinking you should just shut up and order even if you won't understand what you're getting?
The food was kind of ok, interesting but not exciting. The lamb has such a sour aftertaste that we sent it back. Even their signature dessert, a chocolate cake, was uninspired.
Too bad. I used to love this place.
7:30 reservation but unfortunately did not get our seat until close to 8pm which normally I would not care about but it was not a good start and only slightly acknowledged by staff. We decided on the Chef's supper, which is a tasting menu for 65 dollars per person. We were a group of 4 and the portions were very small for 4 people, we noticed that tables of two next to us were getting the same portions for their Chef's Supper. Would seem that table of 4 should get double what table of 2 receives but that was not the case.
The food was fine but nothing spectacular and certainly not worth 65 dollars a person.
On a positive note, the wine list was good and it was an intimate atmosphere. Just don't get the Chef's Supper for 4 unless you want to leave hungry.
Overall, a fairly disappointing experience.
We ordered the multi course experience where the Chef prepares a variety of small plates. A wonderful taste experience. The food was creative, new to our taste-buds, and very delicious. We could not wait until the next serving. Services too was a great balance to the experience. We'll be back.
We met with friends for a small celebration. I had originally made a dinner reservation, but time constraints allowed only for a happy hour visit. Even so, our server gave us a great table at the front windows opening up to the Park Blocks. We ordered a virtual sampling of most everything from the appetizer menu, to be shared by all. Our server was helpful describing menu items, as well as being and gracious and prompt. Our food was fabulous! A time with friends was turned into an Occasion by the thoughtful and skillful staff at Park Kitchen. We will be back!
We loved this restaurant. Not only was every dish excellent but the staff went out of their way to accommodate two vegans in our party. When we arrived, they had special menus marked up for them and the kitchen was great about making substitutions. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the wine list as well. Service couldn't have been better
Went there on a reco from a fellow Georgian whose nephew works there. Never would have gone there but soooooo glad we did! Wonderful beers, service was caring and kind, and the food was local and outstanding. You need to go there!! ( this means YOU, Mimi and Hal!)
The food here was amazing!! I mean as good as Chez Panisse in Berkeley or Vedge in Philadelphia. We scraped the sauce off the plate. The only reason I hesitate to give it 5 stars overall was that our waitress was new and was a bit confused. She was accommodating and nice, and it was no big deal - just not 5 star service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
First time here.... all small plates on the menu with most showcasing local goods. Food was good but not great, missing flair or something to make it stand out from every other small plate. Service was timely, knowledgeable and friendly. This venue is quite small with as much outside seating as inside.
This wonderful restaurant was exactly what I was looking for. A business associate was visiting from out of town, I am from Seattlle so wasn't sure where to eat. A friend recommended this place. What a perfect place this was for us. The food was fabulous! Thank you for a very enjoyable evening. Looking forward to coming ack!
First time at this restaurant. Creative menu. Small plates so we could order and share several items. The chickpea fries with roasted squash ketchup were delicious as was the wonderfully sweet beat salad. I love Old Fashioned cocktails so was hesitant to try their's since it is literally "on tap". It did not disappoint.
