If you are handicapped, don't go here. They'll tell you on the phone that they are accessible, but when you get there, you'll find that they can't get the handicapped elevator to work. Then they will blame the city for it. Luckily my step-father is not wheelchair-bound yet or we would have had no Thanksgiving dinner that night because he wouldn't have been able to navigate the stairs. Although he was able to get down, it was very painful for him. What's worse is that he had to go up and down an extra time to use the bathroom because there is no bathroom on the dining level. My mother said they were apologetic, but they didn't do anything to make up for it, like comp a drink, let alone a meal. They might have also tried to offer us a spot at Beach Chalet, which does have a working elevator. Pretty unprofessional.

Wish we would've gone to the Beach Chalet. Park Chalet Restaurant is nice, but it was loud with tons of soccer kids with families. Food was bland. service good. Beer was better. Would be a better lunch place. Drinks at Beach Chalet at sunset saved the evening...

The Park Chalet is a pretty nice place to enjoy a parents date night meal. They have a nice selection of beers for different palates and the food was mostly good. The noise level was not too loud and the view into the park was nice. Also having a glass room helps to let in lots of natural sunlight and make things brighter. My wife and I started with the poke which was very well seasoned and marinated. She also had the fish tacos which she enjoyed very much. I had the fish and chips for dinner. The important thing is to eat it while it was hot. After the fish cools down a bit, the batter was no longer crispy and became a bit heavy and soggy. For dessert, we had the cheesecake in a jar. Very nicely done and the cheesecake part was not heavy at all. It could have used more fruit other than the 4 blueberries and 1 cut strawberry though. For those with a shellfish allergies, I wish the kitchen had more than one fryer. My wife wanted to have the fish and chips also, but because the same fryer is used for all the fried items, including shellfish, she had to skip that as she did not want to have an allergic reaction. Overall, it is a nice place to hang out and enjoy a meal and enjoy a parents date night while the kids are at home with the grandparents!

Although our waitperson was very nice, it was obvious that they were extremely understaffed. She kept apologizing to us saying "thank you for you patience and understanding." Our order just did not happen for close to 1/2 hour. We just sat outside at one of the patio tables, waiting and waiting. Then our beers took about 20 minutes after we ordered (we're twiddling our thumbs for 50 minutes). Frankly, we could not get our waitress' attention at all. But we didn't fault her. Every time we saw her she was running around trying to tend to far too many tables. The food was just okay, but our dinner bill was $160 (before the $25 tip, so $185 total). It was just the 3 of us, with 2 drinks/person (regular sized beers and 2 strawberry lemonades), one entree each (two were cheeseburgers) and a couple of appetizers. Given the meal took over two hours due to the long waits, not sure I'd go back. Park area is nice though.

We arrive for our 8:30 reservation and we were told that we had 10 minutes to order or else the kitchen would be closed. It was clear that we were the last patrons ordering and our food seemed like the last food they had in the kitchen quickly pushed together and sent out. It was not a great experience.

This was not the first time to Park Chalet. On this day, during the Labor Day weekend, service was quite poor. Place was really crowded and busy but we still secured a table. Took forever to get our drinks and food - about 1 hour. I think our server tried to avoid our table but it would have been nice to have a check in and update as to when we'd get what we ordered.

Slow service. Understaffed. Numerous Mistakes on order. Sub-par food. Forgot soup. Did not serve with plates, silverware. No water provided. Not sensitive to allergy requests. No options for gluten free. Kitchen staff not knowledgable enough to create alergy free. (Aka- did remove soy sauce from tuna tartar to have it as gluten free, but served it with fried (batter of what looked like Tempura) Seaweed chips- although that would have the gluten allergen. Refilled 2nd glass of white wine, was of a different wine by Mistake. Soggy slaw. Apparently the lobster roll was good. Go for the beer sampler which was good. Overall food and service very disappointing.

The Open Table Park Chalet "ad" talks about the SUNDAY BRUNCH..There is NO SUNDAY BRUNCH.Park Chalet says there is NO SUNDAY BRUNCH ADVERTISING which is incorrect just check Open Table and read about the Sunday Brunch. The building for Park and Beach Chalet has a large parking lot,but on weekends you CAN NOT PARK IN THE LOT UNLESS YOU PAY $7.00 VALET.! The wait staff is very lax you have to ask for water, the bill.

My son and I started out in the grassy area with the low tables - no server came so after about 10 minutes, we moved on to the patio area. It was probably another 10 minutes or so before anyone came to our table. I got the short rib appetizer and a salad; my son got the mac/cheese and fries. Overall, the food was good - we had to take some home with us. I like that the restaurant is dog friendly (we had him with us as well). The service, though, can really ruin an otherwise great experience. The outdoor area is so pretty and the food was good - service was not. This restaurant charges top dollar so they should really do a better job in that area.

When we arrived, the hostess asked when we made our reservation. Apparently they were overbooked for tables coming in 30 min after us. She asked if we would sit at a high table, with our 4yr old. We declined. After we are seated, we don't see our server for at least 10 min, possibly more. Shortly after, the hostess returns to ask if we were willing to squeeze the 3 of us on to a two-tone (after so nicely saying we could say no). We declined. I watch her as another table (larger party) apparently got a table upstairs, freeing up a table she needs, and she fist pumps as her problem is now solved. Our drinks take an extraordinary amount of time to arrive, during which our server is no where to be found. Food arrives fine, tastes fine. One quick check back by the server, that's it. After we are finished eating, we wait another 10+ minutes for our server to appear so we can flag him down for the check. Overall, the worst services in a long time. We've stayed away for poor service, gave it another try. Won't be going back. Food isn't worth it, there is better food out there.

There were too many events going on at one time. There were hundreds of people outside playing the "Pokee Mon" game. There was a wedding reception that had booked many of the parking spaces. We had to pay for chaotic parking. The servers were trying to take care of the wedding party first. Our service was very slow . We felt forgotten.

We arrived for our reservation on time and sat at the bar for a few minutes before we found our way to the table. We ordered it shortly after that in our food came out lightning fast and was at best lukewarm. They told that since the restaurant was slow they decided they'd were closing an hour early. This gave us approx 20 min to eat. Our waiter came by continually to clear dishes that we were still using. He was super nice but we were ridiculously rushed. Light were dimmed as we ate and music stopped on speakers. It was pin drop quiet except the clanking of dishes being stacked for next day in the bar. I was so embarrassed for my guests. Horrible experience. Ask how long you have to eat. We had to leave food on our plates and drinks left still half full. Given the bums rush yet we paid 120.00. Shameful. Who closes an hour early? They should have told us when we walked in!

I followed the Yelp reviews so I knew to expect slow service. It took about 30 minutes or so for someone to take our orders. Most of the entrees came out at a reasonable time, but for the two of us who ordered crab roll sandwiches it took well over an hour! The server was very nice and very apologetic, but still - the rest of our party had long finished their entrees when the crab roll sandwiches arrived. That being said, the crab was indeed delicious per the Yelp reviews. I had some of my daughter's fish and chips which were also delicious and I like their coleslaw. The macaroni and cheese had truffle oil in it which was tasty. I do not recommend the butterscotch pudding. The flavor was a tad too strong. Thankfully we were not in a hurry. When the live band set up, we were happy to drink and listen to music while waiting for our food. I would come again for the food and music as long as I had several hours to hang out.

I booked two tables for a group of friends to meet for dinner for my husband's birthday. I requested two tables next to each other outside. Arrived at the restaurant to find that we were given one round table for 6 inside. I asked whether we could have the 4 top next to it and was told by an extremely surly hostess that was "not going to happen." Luckily the evening was saved by our awesome waiter who explained that two staffers had walked out that day and they were extremely short-handed. He got us the nearby table, took our orders and kept the food and drinks coming. We had a nice evening in spite of the rocky start.

There were 4 of us for Mother's Day. The service was atrociously slow, which turned a light, late lunch into an over 2 hour ordeal. We sat at the restaurant a good 15 minutes before a waiter showed up to our table. I understand it was Mother's Day and that it was busy, so I forgave that. However, it started emptying out and service continued to be extremely slow. Our drinks came much later after our food was served, and even our food did not show up all at once. Our waiter did not pay much attention to us and instead a kind bus-boy did and got us what we needed such as keeping tabs on the status of our food and drinks. The food was fine. The dessert was disappointing and of low-quality. It was my first and definitely last visit to Park Chalet and I regret coming here for Mother's Day.

Went here on a sunny evening to enjoy the weather. Our server was super friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. We ordered kale salad and fish tacos that had zero flavor. We contemplated telling our friendly waiter this, but decided that makes everything awkward and it's not his fault at all.

We used this location in Golden Gate Park to meet in a mini High School reunion (3 guys) from the Class of 55. For us, whose hearing and stair climbing abilities have wained, the Park Chalet was a fine alternative to the Beach Chalet up stairs from this venue. The food was fine and nicely limited so that we didn't have typo agonize over too many choices. Of course, the beer was local, excellent and in more than sufficient variety to fit the variable requirements of Ocean Beach weather. We will happily return.

It was a warm night and we went there specifically because it had "outdoor dining". But when we arrived all of the glass doors/windows were closed and the outside was closed up. I have been there before on warm nights and they open all the walls so it is an indoor/outdoor experience. We asked them if they could open them, and they said no. Then it seemed that they were out of everything we wanted (two drinks, and an entree that they were out of or had not produced that day). The food we ordered was fine, but not what we had gone in there for (we had pre-planned our menu from looking at their website), and we didn't get to enjoy the rare warm February night as we had hoped (it was 75 degrees outside)! I will go back for their "Taco Tuesdays", but not for dinner as it was a little expensive for not having the food and atmosphere we went in for (not to mention the tasty-but-not-strong-enough margaritas - ask for an extra shot if you expect a good stiff drink).

Saturday & Sunday afternoons are the best time to relax: hang out on the lawn with your kids or dog, hear more live music & congratulate yourself with one --or three-- of our house-brewed ales. Every Friday night at 9pm they show movies on our 110" screen and offer happy hour prices (no cover, 18+ only).
