The grill will have updated menus November 1st for your dining pleasure and an expanded wine list and we will be offering 15 fantastic Oklahoma beers for your state sampling.
Everything was ok but unexceptional. For the pricing I expected everything to be better.
We expected more for the location and what was presented on the menu. I believe we paid $33 for scallops and there was only three of them. By the time to rissoto came out we were all finished with the meal - and it was very al dente...
My wife and I enjoyed a St. Patrick's Day brunch at this restaurant. We were warmly greeted, seated in a flash, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole morning. We partook of the corned beef and eggs dish in honor of St. Pat and were not disappointed. The corned beef was flavorful and the Dijon Hollandaise was the perfect sauce for this dish.
The greatest thing about this venue, though, is EDGAR CRUZ serenades while you munch. Mr. Cruz is an Oklahoma Treasure. If you haven't heard him play the acoustic guitar, get here next Sunday. He plays, arranges, composes, and is simply phenomenal. I am amazed all the sound that comes from his fingers and just one guitar. We will make this a regular hang out.
Edgar Cruz was amazing. The Grill and the hotel are absolutely beautiful.
Great waitress. Great food!
Nice, quiet dinner. Certainly works for a hotel restaurant.
Atmosphere nice. Love the old hotel character of the building.
Food was all good. One of 4 entrees seemed skimpy.
Food could've been better. Waitress was awesome! The appetizers were awesome too! Steak was steak. Scallops were great. Mashed potatoes were missing some sort of extra flavor, asparagus was cooked and flavored well. Creme brulee was just ok, carrot cake tasted store bought, not fresh. But, for a hotel restaurant, its do-able. Pricey though. About $100 per person (including waiter/waitress tip), I was hoping for more.
Didn’t get our appetizer before the meal so we just cancelled it. My meal was scallops, lemon risotto and Swiss chard entree. Chose that over the scallops a la cart from the grill menu. $3 cheaper and since my hubs got a burger don’t want a large side by myself. I got 3 scallops And a bowl full of risotto. With a teaspoon of chard as a garnish. My hubs liked his. Mine was good, just seemed pretty pricey for what I got. $32 for mine. Hubs burger was $13 and was gourmet so it was worth it for sure.
We won’t avoid it, but won’t seek it out either.
We opted for what just sounded good, a strange combination of: a hamburger, lemon risotto and grilled brussel sprouts. The meal was fabulous, would definitely do it again.
The food isn’t worth the price and the service was probably the worst I’ve seen. Too many better options in OKC to visit here again.
Food was great, service was excellent and ambience was wonderful
Bailey was our waitress and she was so professional and had great suggestions on the menu. The restauraunt supervisor whose name has escaped me but started with a J was absolutely on top of everything and very pleasant. The food was outstanding as usual and we will be back. I want to also mention the bar staff because they were also wonderful and helpful. Arrica, Sterling And Sarah were fantastic and make great cocktails!
Our favorite hotel to stay at downtown because we love old world charm, and places with history, that take pride in preserving the original charm.
Glad your enjoyed your New Years Eve with us. Our food is amazing our staff goes above and beyond for our guest. Thank you for this great review please come back to visit!
Overpriced low quality food and service. Crabcake was the only item that was actually good but not worth $17
Our food and service are great. I apologize you didn't have a positive experience. Please come back to enjoy breakfast on us!
Excellent. My wife and I enjoyed a very memorable breakfast the morning of our wedding. Every aspect of the experience was first-rate, and we surely recommend the restaurant to anyone seeking an upscale, relaxing meal.
Congratulations glad you enjoyed breakfast on your big day. We love to be a part of a wedding couples memories. Thanks for the review come back to visit to create more memories.
Disappointed, we eaten there before and a lot has changed. Many empty tables, not business casual. The only other couple had on T shirts. Prime rib was over cooked, substituted with rib eye that was tough and full of gristle.
I apologize you didn't have a good experience. We would like to offer you a free night at the hotel and dinner on us. Please call the hotel and ask to speak to Eddie I will take care of you.
Older hotel service was awesome but food was forgettable
This was by far the worst overall place to spend a holiday. We wouldn’t even come here again if it was the last place in OKC to eat and we were starving! Service was awful & the food was nasty, cold & expensive! (Average $50 per person + tip & tax!) Opentable should remove this restaurant from their service! What an embarrassment.
For the thanksgiving dinner you were offered either turkey or prime rib. Then they served all carb side dishes! - mashed potatoes, hash browns casserole, Mac & cheese & stuffing- NO gravy! They did also give us a green bean casserole that was gummy & gluey, just terrible, inedible. Couldn’t order mixed specialty cocktails either, just straight up whiskey, bourbon... and a very few selections of wine, no beer!!! Never could get an answer why. Desserts were only a tad better. Super disappointed.
So sorry you didn't enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner. The service and the food are outstanding here. Sounds like we were not at our best this day. Please come back for dinner on us. So we can provide great food and service for you!
Food and service were impeccable. Very relaxed atmosphere, not the place to go if you're in a rush. So much nostalgia to see as you walk around lobby area. Need to go to piano bar and grab an after dinner cocktail.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the review for us. We appreciate your business please come back to visit!
The restaurant was beautiful and the service was great. The food was just average and in my opinion overpriced.
The food was fantastic. I’ve never had such wonderful red snapper in my life. But the children running around the restaurant unchecked were super loud and unnecessary. Literally playing tag in the restaurant. Besides that everything else was great.
Music by Edgar Cruz was the only good thing about our Sunday brunch/lunch experience.
Our waitperson must have been having a bad day, as her service and attitude were pitiful.
We had reservations for 11:30 and two of us decided on the buffet, but to our dismay it was shut down by 12:30 and no one told us that when we ordered. We were taking our time and enjoying one item at a time since we did not know it would close so quickly. We wound up paying $20 for what seemed like a free hotel breakfast. My husband ordered corned beef hash from the menu but said it was not very good.
Next time we want to listen to Cruz melodies, we will just sit at the bar and drink.
So sorry to hear this our service and food are great. I would like for you to come enjoy brunch on us. Let us provide a great dining experience for you!
Great location, outstanding food, excellent service and wonderful history associated with the hotel.
Raw chicken, dried out prime rib. Never go back
I myself just like calling the restaurant up and make a reservation. I then can tell someone my needs, where I would like to sit, and be able to ask questions if needed. I also get the persons name that I talked with. If there is a problem prior to being there I can call or the restaurant can call me. More personable. This is a upper class establishment and they know what they are doing!
I ordered the oysters Rockefeller, which was very good! The only drawback was the salt levels. It was a bit too salty.
We loved earing at the Skirvin right before a show at the Civic Center. Great service, delicious food and perfect ambiance! Better than anything in Dallas!
We found the food over-priced for the quality. The meats served had no flavor without the side sauces that you could add. The appetizers were not bad but I would not go there again for the value. Obviously we did not have everything on the menu so it is possible that we would have a different experience with different entrees. VAST at the top of Devon tower around the corner is by far superior in terms of view, taste of cuisine and price.
They were out of about everything, not sure who does the ordering around there but they must have been off and didn't leave anyone in charge. Seriously everything i tried to order they were out of
This was my first time dining here and it was fabulous. From the appetizer, main dish to dessert. Very impressed with the flavors, presentation , etc. Brought a dear friend here for is birthday and it was a wonderful evening. The waitstaff were more than accommodating and met all of our needs. Highly recommend. Had two appetizers, one mixed drink, one ice tea, two steak dinners and a dessert that we shared that was given to my guest for free for his birthday. Bill with tip $100. Well worth it.
Love the historic feel all around while dining. Service and food was both fabulous. Staff was on point for everything. Food was flavorful from appetizers, salads, to main course.
The food wasn't bad, but wasn't amazing. The building is beautiful! Being inside the hotel was the best perk.
This was our second time to the Park Avenue Grill. When we arrived, the place was practically deserted. There was apparently a large party in another a joining banquet hall, but otherwise the wait staff was not taxed heavily. Service was very good, although the server did mention that there were several menu items not available. The menu is somewhat limited, very beef - centric. Items from the grill do not include his side, whereas the entrees do. Diver scallops were excellent, perfectly cooked, over a lemon risotto which highlighted the qualities of the scallops very well. There were, however, only three of them, which should not have been a big deal had they not been more than $30. Flat iron steak was cooked about a minute too long, and was over-seasoned with salt. One of the problems with the location (Skirvin Hilton), which has been noticed before, is some air "freshener" that is overused in the lobby area, it almost smells like a fragrance counter and a large department store. It is overwhelming, and detracts from the overall experience at the restaurant.
Love the history and ambiance of this place. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. We were able to hear each other in a friendly environment.
Waitstaff was awesome. Food was great, and arrived very quickly. They even brought us a special dessert decorated for our anniversary.
The service, food and atmosphere were excellent. When they found out we were celebrating our 23rd anniversary they gave us a free dessert of our choice.
We spent the night of July 3 at the Skirvin Hotel. The public spaces are gorgeous. The room was wonderfully furnished and appointed. The people in the hotel itself with whom we dealt were all very professional.
Our problems came when we ate dinner in the Park Avenue Grille. Admittedly, the place was empty, but we showed up at 8 (we’d even made a reservation on OpenTable) and were prepared for a pleasant meal given online reviews, and the fact that the dining room itself was as nice as the other public areas in the hotel. Any attempts at a quiet relaxing meal were undercut by the constant noise from the kitchen, where the staff having nothing better to do were laughing, singling, and doing I know no what, all of which could clearly be heard in the dining room. At 9 PM, someone closed the doors to the restaurant, and started to run the vacuum. We were a few bites into our entree. Other staff busily were running around clearing off unused tables to prep them for breakfast. I finally had to ask our waitperson to have the vacuuming stop.
The unprofessionalism of the staff was the least of our problems. The food left a great deal to be desired. The cocktails and wine were just fine. The crab bisque was wonderful. The grilled shrimp okay. The rack of lamb almost inedible. It had no taste, and was more gristle than meat. The side of lumpy mashed potatoes, room temperature at best with (at one time) melted cheese that had sat under a heat lamp and reformed into a ‘rubber cheese shell,’ added nothing to our dining experience.
The waitperson wanted to know if we wanted dessert. We declined as it was more than obvious the staff didn’t want us even to be in the restaurant.
We journeyed down for the free breakfast this morning. The pancakes were just fine. The corn beef hash was covered in something yellow that ruined whatever flavor it might have had.
As I say, the hotel proper was just fine, but there is clearly trouble in the kitchen.
Early dinner while traveling for work. Service was attentive and food was excellent.
My mistake didn’t look at the menu when we booked for brunch. Didn’t expect a buffet service for the price. The staff were all wonderful and the food was typical morning buffet. But for the price I expected the option to order from a brunch menu rather then a lunch menu. Love the Skirvin and have really enjoyed lunches and dinners there so stick to them for those meals if you aren’t staying the night in the hotel.
