About Parc

Stephen Starr's stylish addition to Rittenhouse Square pays tribute to French cafe culture, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, ideal for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. Parc recalls the chic brasseries of Paris, serving classic French fare in a charming space. Red leather banquettes topped with frosted glass provide a sense of intimacy. Details such as well-worn wooden chairs, vintage framed paintings and photos and antique brass fixtures transport guests across the Atlantic. French doors spill onto a sidewalk terrace covered by a dark red awning perfect for dining "en plein air." Reservations are not accepted for outdoor tables.

I love Parc for breakfast because it is quieter and calmer than other times of the day. The hostess, Natella, always offers a warm welcome. She creates a warm and personalized oasis for each customer.

My favorite restaurant in the City. Authentic French food this side of Paris.

Parc is one of the better-serviced restaurants...waitstaff is solicitous, but not overly, and you get what you want, i.e., a pale pink Kir rather than a ruby red one. Had requested seating out of the central/front room noise -- there are no soft surfaces in the "front"...banquettes on the side street have a little softness so it's a bit quieter, though not considerably. Had two appetizers as my entree and dessert. Have been to Parc many times, but noticed this time that their options incorporating pastry/dough were underwhelming. Two different selections had dry, not buttery/flaky dough, that was tough to cut and eat...it mostly wasn't eaten. The bread basket and entrees were up to their good, expected, standard. Less-than-best dough will not deter my returning. :-)

As always, great lunch. Also, our server Marygrace was amazing! She was very asute to our various food allergies. We will request her on future dinings.

Very noisy and cramped seating. If you are looking for a quiet place for dinner this is not the restaurant. The restaurant while very large crams in a lot of tables. Its geared for the under 50 age group.

My brother and our wives spent a lovely weekend in Philadelphia and our choice for dinner was Parc. I had been there before and knew they would enjoy the experience. My wife's hanger steak was wonderfully prepared, though a bit tough. The rest was spot on. The chicken liver parfait for the 4 of us to get started was my favorite. Definitely on the short list when we return to Philadelphia.

Absolutely loved the oysters, tuna carpaccio, bouillebaise, and beef bourgeon. Wine (Paul Hobbs) was excellent as well. Ambiance of sitting near the window was perfect as well.

Many try but few approach the true French brasserie experience the way Parc can. I've lived in Paris off and on for 40 years and only a handful of American eateries come close to duplicating the experience but Parc is one that does. Even the service is professional. I did order my steak "blue" and it was merely very pink, but no American kitchen has the nerve to really serve a steak as cold in the center as a French kitchen will. The only thing that's distracting are the patrons who shout their conversations so loud you can barely hear yourself thing; no French guests would ever talk that loud in a restaurant! But the oysters were fresh, the champagne properly chilled and poured and the frites nice and the bread lovely (albeit served with butter! quel horreur!) Lovely restaurant. Lovely wait staff. Great food.

I had read about Parc looking French but was amazed by the interior details! Even the restrooms were in keeping with the theme. My choice for breakfast was a delicious and somewhat spicy polenta based dish. The setting is beside a large city park-like square with good opportunities for people watching from a window seat. It would be great to sit outside but November weather did not make that tempting this visit to Philadelphia.

Parc fully met our expectations as a classic and classy bistro. My Salade Lyonaisse and Lamb Shank were superbly prepared, delicious and generous beyond the bounds of my appetite. My wife was thoroughly pleased with her Salade Verte, and we were very impressed at the response when she mentioned her Steak Frites was a bit too rare. Although she initially declined the waiter's offer to take it back go the kitchen, a manager came out to repeat the offer, and a more senior manager then followed up to make sure the more well done meat was to her satisfaction. Their sincere and graceful extra effort underscored that Parc is a special restaurant and reinforces our desire to come back!

I’ve been to Parc twice in two weeks. It’s excellent. I started first with a Sazerac. This is a fantastically smooth New Orleans cocktail, unbelievably subtle. It’s not on the menu, but the waitress said they always have it, so ask for it, the gentlest cocktail you’ll ever have (strong as a martini or Old Fashioned). Next time I had something rather rougher, Philly-produced and concocted absinthe. It was fun, and there’s an apparatus of water over sugar you get to watch as your drink clouds (like pastis). The bread is great, the baguette is as good as I ever had in France. The nut bread is delicious, but filling, and there was a third bread not memorable. I had the tuna carpaccio with a creamy leek sauce; they call it vinaigrette, but nothing in the slightest acidic. It was smooth too (like the sazerac) and delicious. The second time I had salmon tartare, and you might think tartare, carpaccio, what’s the difference? But the salmon tartare is not smooth and gentle, but peppery, feisty. Good! But then (second visit) I had the sea bass, and I have to say, it was too much food: the sea bass with tapenade is a big meal, and I wouldn’t recommend having a strong hors d’oeuvre in front as I did. First visit, after sazerac, tuna in creamy leek, I had I had the veal in creamy mushroom sauce, and perhaps that was all too smooth altogether, but there you are, wrong choices that were all delicious regardless. This is a fine place. These two dinners were virtually $100. each, with a glass of wine too each time. It's a lot.

Wanted to meet up with out of town friends visiting for the weekend at some place close to the Sofitel. Mid-week I thought "maybe" reservations would be a good idea. It's not just a good idea, it's a must! I was very surprised that the only opening for 4 people was at 2pm on Sunday. That said, our table was immediately available whereas drop-ins were being told a minimum of 45 minutes.

Waitress was pleasant and wasn't rushing us, but at being told we needed a few more minutes to order the second time, the smile wasn't quite as bright. Two of us had the avocado and toast, another had the eggs benedict (sans meat), and the fourth had an omelette. I also had the yogurt and fruit parfait. All seemed to enjoy the food - I liked the combination of pouched eggs with the creamy avocado on whole grain toast. Plentiful fruit (mostly blueberries!) along with the greek style yogurt in the parfait. Enough to share with others. The menu was excellent - it's hard to believe anyone couldn't find something of interest to order. The complimentary bread basket had a nice variety of breads, including a nut bread that was amazing.

The biggest problem was the noise level inside. Don't go expecting to have intimate conversation or if you're hoarse. The problem with the noise is the louder you talk to be heard, the louder others talk to be heard. You deal with it, but it limits conversation.

Cost was about $125, including tip. For four, for brunch that included a few extras it seemed right in line with expectations.

We were celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary.

We sat near the windows on the Rittenhouse Square side (as requested) so the view was great, but unfortunately we were also sitting next to the door that kept opening for the servers to exit to attend to the outdoor guests so it was chilly sitting there.

Our server was great and attentive but not overbearing (didn't catch his name).

Every meal presentation for Sunday brunch was spectacular from the oysters to the charcuterie tray that we requested that wasn't on the brunch menu but was made special for us.

All of our entrees were great from the cheeseburger to the steak frites and the moules frites.

Dessert was wonderful-crème brulee and chocolate cake. The server arranged for a "Happy 50th Anniversary" message on the serving dish at dessert that was a special surprise.

The atmosphere is noisy, but fun. The scene is buzzing and the experience is a real joy. We've been here about 4 times before and will certainly return.

The bread assortment was fabulous, per usual. Our neighbor friends had never been to Parc before. The husband is a bit of a fussy eater - sent them several menus to local establishments in advance and this one pleased Mr. Fussy the most!

The service was quite good and the food delightful.

Just a little noisy for conversation - but I was expecting this having been here a few times in the past!.

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with amazing service in a truly authentic French setting. The restaurant is large for being in center city, with a large full bar and year-round outdoor seating (overhead heaters for winter). Hands down my favorite Steven Starr restaurant. It does get pretty busy so make a reservation!

Love Parc, always fantastic food and exceptional service. My lunch on Saturday was once again outstanding. Always buy 2-3 baguettes to take home and put in the freezer. When I heat them, they take just as fresh as the day I bought them.

the food was fantastic. It was a shame that despite leaving my credit card with my server, a different server dropped off a bill at our table, which made it very uncomfortable because I had already left my card with the server ... but besides that the food was great.
