Parallel Post Ratings and Reviews
I wish that open table had indicated that the restaurant was in a Marriot Hotel first of all. The seating was all within a bar with very loud music (and terrible - 80’s and 90’s pop) we asked to be seated elsewhere, but they didn’t have any quieter area. It was very difficult to have conversation. The food was just ok, but the service (Jonathan) was outstanding.
The menu is somewhat limited, but the dishes were all good and the quality high. Very surprising to find a locavore approach in a chain hotel. We went on a holiday -- the 4th of July -- figuring it would be open because it's in a hotel, but probably wouldn't be crazy busy. It met our expectations on that front and exceeded on the food front.
Food was excellent! We ordered and shared their Caesar salad and a grilled skirt steak. Both plates were different than usual; the salad was dry but heavy on the parmesian and generous with the croutons. It was also a large portion that two could share. The steak was served medium rare with a light glaze, sliced potatoes and a type of broccoli Rabe / broccoli hybrid I'd never had before. Add to that an excellent Malbec (sauvignon blanc for my wife - also superb) and we had an outstanding meal. Great service too. We plan to go back.
My husband ate here once before and said that the grassfed burger was outrageous and wanted to go back! I was open to it, I even looked up the menu before hand, knowing that my mom, myself and my daughter would all want salmon for dinner. The menu online said Pan-Roasted Salmon, however when we got there I asked why the menu was different and they said that the menu online was really old and they don't update it at all.... Had I know that, I would have maybe chose a different restaurant.
Parallel Post is NOT your typical hotel restaurant. This farm to table restaurant has delicious food and fantastic drinks. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower sides are a must try! It's the perfect spot for a date night or a get together with a group of friends.
Should have been a better experience, but for the clunky service. We were seated right away but waited too long to be visited. When the server did arrive she was anxious to take our entree order -- but we were only ready to order drinks. We had to ask if there were specials.
The food was tasty. Good Caesar, delicious tenderloin, even if it was cold when delivered. Other things ordered that had raves were the beet salad and the short ribs. The 2nd glass of wine arrived long after we began our entrees. Then, we were forgotten. By the time she wanted to take our dessert order, we were ready to leave.
the food is very good and the staff has gone out of their way for us on many occasions. This time the chef made us a potato au gratin dish since they'd received my special request for the special potato filled onion too late. They have wonderful dinners and breakfasts with a terrific staff.
The food is always good but, it did take a while to get our food and drinks (did not seem like the waiter's fault). We just kind of know that when we go there not to expect things to move quickly. If you have a little time and patience, then its a good place. If you a watch the clock and become upset because you are waiting awhile for your order then, I probably wouldn't bother going here.
We ate here twice when the restaurant was fairly new and it was wonderful...a true farm to table as advertised. There were interesting and delicious items on the menu. The waiters were knowledgeable and friendly. I would no longer call it farm to table. There were no specials and the menu was run of the mill. The workers were the level of a pizza joint. When we arrived there were a few people at the bar so the hostess sits us at a small table near the bar. We moved to a larger table where we didn't have to hear the bar noise. Our waiter dressed in jeans seemed anxious to rush us along. He didn't appear to have any other tables to wait on. It was early (6:30 reservation) so I'm sure he couldn't leave when we were finished. The food was adequate but not farm to table. We will never eat there again!
The restaurant says its farm to table but no where does it indicate that, as far as I could tell. However every dish we received was outstanding. As were the cocktails we had. It's a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion. The ambience might have been a bit off because we were the only patrons there.
This was very disappointing, especially considering we had a good experience the other time we came here. The Saturday before Mothers Day, which was not terribly busy, was a disaster in every way. Slow service, absentee server, and the food made us sick the next day. Won't be back.
Loved this place and ate there every time I stay at the Trumbull Marriott which is at least six times a year. The menu just changed and I can't help but wonder if the chef did too because the food was below par. Some great items were taken off the menu and their famous salted vanilla/caramel was gone too. A simple but delicious chicken sandwich which was served on a great bun was switched out to a plain, simple, and old roll. Even the drunken chicken was gone. The steak was excellent but terribly over priced for the size.
I'll be back in the Trumbull Marriott in October but I won't be eating there. Even the breakfast for 2 was over forty dollars and all I had was French toast with nothing else! Expensive bread I guess...
I didn't really know what to expect when I discovered that Parallel Post was located in a hotel. I'm glad I gave it a chance anyway. My friend and I had a Friday night dinner here recently. We were tucked away in a corner, which made it easier to have a conversation. The decor was modern and classy. The drinks were phenomenal. I highly recommend The Lady Killer! The food was out of this world. My beef short rib with mashed taters and roasted veggies was seasoned and cooked perfectly. So tender I didn't even need a knife! My only complaint is that service is spotty. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. We didn't mind, since we were catching up anyway, but it took a long time to get our drinks and then to get our food. Still, I'd return. Overall, I enjoyed myself.
I have eaten Christmas dinner, and a couple of breakfasts, with a family group at Parallel Post for the past two years. The breakfast buffet is extensive and of high quality; the dinner selections are creative and plentiful; the service is attentive and warm. We are generally wary about the quality of in-house hotel restaurants, but not this one -- it helps make our Holiday Season away from home very enjoyable.
I usually love it here; great atmosphere, fun tables, booths, and lounge chairs to give you whatever vibe you were feeling for dinner. And dinner is usually outstanding. But this night was just average. Service was very slow, and the Caesar salad would have benefitted greatly if they blended the anchovies into the dressing instead of leaving them whole as a decoration. Dressing was blah. I will say the parsnip soup of the day was very good. Thankfully I've had some great dinners here and they won't lose me on this one poor experience.
We never expected a restaurant in a Marriott to be this good. Food was imaginative, very tasty, fit for an upscale restaurant, bar and wine selctions well done and varied. Had a nice bar scne as well - fin but not overly loud, adult clientele. Only two downsides: the TVs at the bar are visible everywhere, really distracting and unnecessary and burger was overdone, later graciously corrected.
The food is better than most restaurants I've eaten in. Nice lighting, plenty of seating and an overall great place with a terrific chef. Have never had a bad meal here and I make it a point to eat at Parallel Post each time I stay at this hotel which is only twice a year. :-((
I've had sandwiches to complete dinners and loved it all.
Having said all this, I have eaten breakfast there twice and never again. My off the menu breakfast food was a bit greasy and the buffet left a lot to be desired. I'll try it once more or three strikes and I'm out!
The food, once it started coming was impeccably prepared and this was a great atmosphere for a post soccer meal. The redfish was exquisite, meat perfect and my daughters drunken chicken was amazing. The only blemish was the service. The servers were so friendly but seemed to forget us for the first 15 minutes of our visit.
I've heard that you'll tell 10 people about a negative restaurant experience and 1 about a positive experience. We've already told 10 people, but because of how amazing this place was. The farm-to-table was a new thing for us. The menu selection was fun and adventurous, the service was friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious. We plan to return, this time with more people.
