Paragon Tap & Table
Horrible. The buffet had very little to offer and what it did offer was cheap, cold and not good. Felt the $34 pp cost was criminal. Also, the service was just about bringing our drinks and clearing our plates - both of which we had to chase down our waitress to do. Not a good Mother’s Day experience at all
We were there on Mother's Day (overpriced buffet). When I called to confirm the reservation they did NOT mention it was a buffet. We were there for a 5PM reservation and they ran out of food, it was way overpriced and mediocre.
Although the beers available were good the number of brews available was limited.
Also, the number of local brews was less than I would have expected from "Gastro-Pub" that advertised the "Craft Experience". Hopefully the venue will continue to evolve and add more NJ sourced brews, Kane and Carton lead the list of Jersey brews, but Czigmeister and Jersey Girl are right up there too.
Looking forward to my next visit.
2nd time I go there, and we were all a disappointed by the food this time : one dish was so spicy (and I can handle spicy usually) that it took away the taste and gave us both stomach issue. And the paella was really not good : all seafood is obviously coming from cheap frozen food bags, rice was overcooked, my advice is AVOID the paella. Their sandwiches ans burgers are good though, and fries excellent. Just make sure you stay in that range of choice
Went for Easter lunch and discovered it was a brunch...Food was adequate but not too pricey for the little we ate then the waiter added his 13.00 tip to the bill msking a total of over 85.00. Too much for a small lunch. Noise was deafening.
Would not return. Was there last year and food was much better.
We ate in the dining room and the noise level was so high we could hardly talk and could not enjoy our meal. I could understand if the noise level on the bar side was high, but they really need to do something about the noise on the dining room side. We will not go back. The people at the table next to us said the same thing.
Also, many of the draft beers are only 12 oz, rather than the traditional pint, and are served in a globe, rather than a traditional beer glass. I could see using that for a Belgian ale or stout, but no the IPA I ordered.
Very disappointing all around.
Its local. It's a fun place, lively. But food is inconsistent. Beers are varied and good.
Nice and clean place. Service was great. Too expensive for a casual night out watching a game.
Braised beef short rib never disappoints
ALWAYS a favorite. The French Onion Soup is the best anywhere and that alone worth the trip. I had a Bacon & Cheese Quesadilla and it was great. Guacamole needs some help. My wife had the crab tacos and my brother in law had a great Cobb Salad. They need to put a cheaper steak on the menu. Maybe a Skirt Steak?
Our waitress was the best! She was always on top of her game!
It's a great place for having excellent American style food and drinks with family or friends.
The food and service were very good. The atmosphere was very noisy and the restaurant had an unappealing interior.
We had a party of 8 people. Everyone was more than happy with their meal! Not only is the food excellent, it is prepared as requested and in large portions. The menu is perfect for a large crowd since there's so much to choose from. The short ribs got exceptionally high marks...tender & delicious! Took a while to get drinks & not all beer selections were available that night but overall a terrific experience.
Food was good... Asian Chicken Salad needed more dressing and the Brussell Sprouts were a little undercooked for my taste and needed some salt. But otherwise, the food was great! Seating is a little close to one another and the noise level in unavoidable, but it is very loud
Food taste did it match the price...was expecting higher quality food for the price. Also atmosphere felt like I was in a cafeteria.
Our server's name was, I think, Mike. He was very attentive, informative and professional and made the meal enjoyable. They have a very good draft beer menu and a variety of food choices.
We arrived early for Harry Potter trivia. The place was packed so I was glad I had reserved a table! The noise level was high, but that’s not the usual situation. Service and food were excellent as always.
Our second visit — same time of day , early Sunday afternoon (12:30 reservation)
They did a great job accommodating a request to be in a quieter area in the place and were kind enough to lower music volume also.
The place didn’t appear crowded on this early Sunday afternoon, but appetizer took like 45 min to come out and lunch took another 45 min or more... and then one of our five dishes was another 5-10 minutes...
It appears the kitchen was backed up tho we were never told that...
Server was fine and pleasant and helpful.
Overall a B this time vs A- last time. But kitchen needs to synchronize better.
Took us a long time to get seated with reservations. Good apps, and good beers on tap. Entrees were okay, Salmon was good, short ribs seemed reheated. Service was great in bar area, okay in dinner area.
Delicious food and drinks, great service! We got the beer burger and korean tacos and we loved them! Will definitely come back!
To Noisy. Also The person I was with received triple the fresh fries I had, it looked as though maybe they might have fallen of the plate from the kitchen to the table.
I will never go there again.
Paragon Tap & Table has a lot of potential, but we were pretty disappointed with the quality of our lunch today. This was our first time here and we decided to go based on the great reviews. It was a quiet Monday and not too busy. My fiancé enjoyed his burger, but the fries were practically inedible because the oil used to fry them was old and had not been changed. I had the baked fish tacos and right away I could tell the fish was frozen, it had no flavor and when I picked up the taco the water from the fish was dripping out. The rice and beans on the side were ok, but the rice was not fully cooked and hard.
We also noticed that the person cleaning the tables around the restaurant was knocking the food dirt and straw wrappers on the floor so there were wrappers all over the floor with the staff constantly walking over them and no one tried to pick or sweep them up.
Based on the other great reviews I’m wondering if they were having an off day, but based on our experience today I don’t think we will be returning.
On a positive note, 5-stars for our server Adam, he was great!
The food was tasty. I arrived on the early side for lunch and got seated away. The menu was varied and had many options. The quality was fresh and prepared well. My only complaint was being cold. The other people I was with were also chilly.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the food here. Highly recommend the crispy chicken sandwich! Always has really interesting beers! Great service! Thank you!
Appetizers, beer and dessert were really good. We both got steak entrees and neither were cooked properly. I ordered med well which came out med rare, almost completely rare. Husband ordered Med which came out med rare, but less rare than mine. I was unable to eat mine since I am pregnant and could not eat meat that rare. The salad was good even without the steak but entirely over dressed. It was almost soupy there was so much excess dressing. Husband's sides were great and steak he was able to eat was tasty.
Brought meat home and cooked further in pven and it was delicious. I would have liked to enjoy it at the time. Will know to order well done next time to hopefully get med well.
Desserts were best part of the meal. Really tasty.
Great food and service!
I might have gone a little higher in my star rating, but they refused to put a high ABV beer in my flight (Icarus Vlad), which is silly (just fill it half way!). I've been here several times since they've opened and the tap list rarely disappoints. While they do have some interesting things on the menu, I'd rank the food closer to pub fare than upscale. After trying a few more adventurous things, I've decided the comfort food is best (burger, grilled cheese, hot quesadilla).
Good food. Relaxed atmosphere. Very nice place, but not pretentious. Good portions and delicious food. Friendly fast service.
Tap and Table has a nice casual atmosphere with great, well priced food. Also a great beer menu. It is a great place to meet friends for nice relaxing dinner.
We had wanted to Try Paragon for some time, having read some good things about its chef. Upon entering with my wife, we decided to have a drink at the bar. There was a loud boisterous group sitting at end of bar screaming the F word every chance they had. So we decided to take our drinks and sit at a table and order dinner. The ambiance is nice, but not great. I would describe it as glorified diner. Service was really awful, Diner took forever to get out. Diners that came in after were served before us. When we complained they apologized. Still, we had to find people for water, to order dessert, to get a check. The service was just terrible. Now the food was actually good. My wife had the scallops and I had pasta with short rib. Both were very tasty. If this review was based solely on the food I would highly recommend, but it was the other variables that made this a place I would not return to.
Place was on point...food, service and drinks all great.
Food was better than prior visits. It was actually really good. I had filet mignon-very well prepared, my wife had scallops. She asked for well done and they came out perfect.
Also, couldn't decide on beer selection, so they offered samples to test.
Noise level was high.
Our waitress was nice but very busy and wasn’t able to provide a more personal service. The place too loud and seating too close. Nice place to go once or twice a year.
Very loud in the smaller front room. They messed up our seating despite having a reservation but the manager made up for it by comping our appetizer. Well done.
Good food, not inexpensive! be prepared for loud noise level.
Though they did not have my favorite duck quesadilla, man was this meal fantastic. The turkey was great, my family got the veggie burger, which we enjoyed along with the southwest burger and Korean beef tacos. I recommend getting the duck quesadilla. The atmosphere was great. This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I can’t wait to come back.
Because other people feel the same way, it gets crowded, so book a reservation.
Food always on point. Beer selection is excellent for the area. Number of places to choose from but, I always feel like family when I come here.
First off, I do really enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere here. But, was less than impressed on NYE. Had a last minute change of NYE plans so I called earlier in the day to make a reservation and was told there were no available tables, yet when I made a reservation on Open Table, there was availability (and the restaurant was empty when we got there). Then we were told when we got there that it was a prix fixe menu so we accepted as we thought that was the only option since it was NYE. But, the only other table in the restaurant had nothing from the prix fixe! We, too, would have ordered off of the regular menu if we knew this was an option and would have saved us $100. Maybe it was our fault for not asking, but it was communicated as soon as we sat down that it was prix fixe so I am a little disappointed that we were not told other menu options were also available if we wanted. I’m sure I will be back, but it will definitely not be for a special occasion or holiday.
