The menu was eclectic but the food was really disappointing. They were out of several specials. The roasted broccoli was so drenched in lemon was like eating a lemon rind—we all puckered up and couldn’t eat it. Bruschetta was likewise drenched in balsamic. The Brussels sprouts were literally fried to ashes but the chickpeas were good. Steak was tough, jumbalaya was like rice a roni with a chicken breast on top. We like good food but are far from “foodies”—it just wasn’t good, especially for the price. No one was interested in finishing their meal. I am still getting teased about choosing this restaurant (we are from out of town.). Servers were great though!
The service was fast and friendly. We had the Paragon burger and were very happy with our choice.
The food wasn't bad, but the service was lacking. There were three of us. Our appetizer came with our entrees, and that was only after asking where it was. My entree was cold and had to be sent back. My wife's salmon was overcooked. The cost of the appetizer was deducted from the bill, but that really didn't improve the experience all that much. I won't be going again.
Paragon is a fun place to have a date. The atmosphere is casual and laid back and the staff is friendly. An excellent choice for people-watching. The knock on Paragon is that the restaurant has caught itself between offering a menu comparable to a fine dining restaurant but following through like a bar. Our spinach artichoke dip was packed with flavor, the oysters were excellent, and the broccoli starter had great balance with a garlic lemon sauce. Our entrees were a bit of a disaster, though. Anna's beautiful piece of salmon was hammered, not just over-cooked. I ordered fish and chips; the small amount of fish they served was fantastic, but there just wasn't very much of it compared to way too many fries. The Ivars pick up window is literally better proportioned. As for service, I can't emphasize enough that our server was friendly. We just didn't see enough of her, so wine and water refills, course timing, etc. went sideways. Paragon would do better to revamp its menu to embrace its identity as a bar - solid comfort food, less flashy, better execution. In terms of a date, this is a great place to have relaxed fun as long as you don't let the menu lead you to believe that you're headed for a high-end upscale experience.
They did a nice job of accommodating our group of 9. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. There were even options for the vegans among us.
My husband I dined at Paragon on a Sunday evening. We were tired after a day of being tourists; the cozy, casual atmosphere was just right for winding down and talking about our day. The best tables by the windows were filled; we chose a cozy booth. My husband's Moscow Mule was good. My cosmopolitan was so-so. The red wines by the glass were quite good. Our server readily offered me tastes of two reds; both were good. My husband's dinner of chili-lime chicken was very tasty. I had a petite sirloin that was tender and flavorful for the price. I enjoyed the asparagus and roasted potatoes that came with the dish. We agreed that our appetizer of rustic bread was awesome!. Pros: tasty food, good value, friendly service, cozy, and casual yet nice. Just the kind of place where we can relax. Cons: Well, for the occasion, I can't think of any. I noticed that they have live music on quite a few nights of the week. That can be a plus or a minus. I'm glad there was no music when we were there, as we wanted to converse.
There is a new chef- Will-and the food had greatly improved. We had smoked beef tenderloin and St Louis coke a cola ribs that were outstanding! Really!
A member of our party was not served until every other person had almost finished their meals. A few deserts were offered in exchange for the kitchen's screw-up, hardly adequate.
There are so many better places to eat in Queen Anne than Paragon. I had the mushroom ravioli. The portion was on the small side. The mushrooms were tasty but the ravioli was swimming in this brown sauce that was thin and tasteless. My husband had the clams. He was unimpressed with his meal as well. This is the second time we've been there. Tried it twice, was disappointed twice . . . never again.
Paragon is not what it used to be. Service was thoughtless ( entres arrived mere minutes after the appetizers) even though the place was barely 60% full. The lighting is dismal, dreary, makes the place feel dirty. Food was passable. Time for someone to buy this place and either change it entirely or bring it back to its old glory.
Service was great. Food was very good although potatoes we on th cool side. Bread appitizer was best ever had.....excellent job
We had a reservation as there was s tree lighting ceremony in the neighborhood. It didn't matter. The menu was more like a bar menu than they had before. And there was a football game on. Normally that's fine but towards the end the turned the volume way up and it was deafening. Overall not a good experience.
Very efficient service. Quite noisy with live music making it hard to talk. Decent food. Good for groups
I have never had a bad meal here. The Paragon is my go-to place when I'm up for going out at the last minute. Food and service are always good. Interior could use an update.
This was my first night in Seattle, and I had to find a restaurant to accommodate 17 work colleagues (some of which have specific dietary needs). Not only were Paragon able to fit us in, and keep everyone happy, but the food and atmosphere were perfect for our needs. I wold like to give a special mention to the staff who were especially kind and lovely. Great choice, highly recommended.
Went for weekend late lunch. It wasn't terribly crowded and was past peak dining time, but even so, service was slow and the food took a very long time to arrive. The poached eggs on eggs benedict and crab benedict were overdone... they should be runny, not like hard-boiled. Fresh crab was nice on the benedict, though.
We really enjoyed the night. Met with out of town friends. We all enjoyed dinner. Severs were very attentive
Nice night out. Everything good all around.
Good brunch spot. I wouldn't say the food was spectacular but it was good. Low key relaxed environment and they do offer bottomless mimosas which is fun. Service was good. The only thing that was an issue was we had a group of 4 and they put us at a cool corner booth which was nice except they didn't have window shades on the upper windows so we all ended up squeezing into one corner so we could actually see because of the sun. Silly thing to complain about but if you had a bigger group and were sitting there it would have been an issue!
I love Paragon for breakfast, lunch, a cocktail or dinner and live music. Kid friendly during the day (one of the waitresses is a nanny and helped calm one of our young ones during a family get together and that was above and beyond!). Later the kiddos can go to bed while the grown ups enjoy live music nightly.
My food has been pretty dang good 89% of the time and I often order my same favorites. The craft beers are pricey for some reason here so opt for one of their delicious speciality cocktails or glass of wine.
You get to know the staff, frequent performers and even some of the regulars for a very homey and neighborhood feel.
Did I say, I love this bar?
We have been here several times and always enjoy the experience - it is just what you are looking forward to if you have been before. Good food, fair prices and very good service.
My husband and I have been going to the Paragon for years. Generally everything is wonderful, but this time the food was less than mediocore. Not sure if they hired a new chef or it was just an off day.
Short ribs were tasty but served lukewarm. The fish in our order of Fish 'n chips were mushy, as if taken from the freezer and dumped into the fryer for too little time. The chips were cold.
My veggies and potato (mashed) was cold .
My companions had never dined at Paragons and they expressed delight in their entrees.
Love this place on Queen Anne Ave. Paragon grill is a awesome place with a nice atmosphere and a cool open bar . The Angled Fireplace that ajoins the bar to the eating area is a neat feature. Great food , you'll love this place
At first we were put off by the multiple TVs and very high noise level. We sat in aback, away from the TVs, and after a request for them to turn the music down, things got good. The noise level was then comparable to chatting, the food was delicious and our waitress was delightful.
This was our firs time at thenParagon and were quite pleased with the food. We had the scallops and they were fantastic. The happy hour lasts to 7pm and the offerings are great.
We will definitely be back!
While the food was good and they were able to accommodate my allergies - the service was awful!
Our server never came and checked up on us. The place was fairly quiet and she had minimal tables. When we wanted a second drink - I actually had to physically get up and go find her. If that wasn't bad enough when we were ready to go I couldn't get her to come over. I made eye contact, hand signaled to come over - she looked right at me and went on to do something else. I eventually went over to another server who was at the bar and asked for my tab. She got it for me quickly and finished everything up for us.
Wonderful fried chicken salad and great fish & chips
Although Ive never had a nice waitress, I still keep coming back! I love that they have live music every night. The food is always delicious, despite the limited menu options.
We used to love this restaurant. It has changed into a much more casual place which is fine, but the service is very unorganized and haphazard. No one seems to know who is covering what table, and although they seem to be working hard, the service just doesn't preform very well.
Three of us had lunch here on a busy Saturday. We had reserved ahead, and our table was waiting for us, which is always a benefit. The brunch menu choices run the gamut from the traditional 2 eggs, meat and toast or breakfast burrito to crab cakes. We also had an order of beignets, which I highly recommend. Service was quick.
A good choice for brunch.
Paragon is a comfortable neighborhood restaurant/bar with a friendly staff and good, solid food. Our salads were huge and fresh, drinks were creative and plentiful. On another night, friends were overwhelmed by the large portion of the "starters" sliders and fries and deemed them delicious.
We left as the Saturday night band was setting up, but will be back another night for more!
We were a large boisterous party and sat in the middle of the room. In spite of that we could carry on conversations with everyone at the table. Our server tried to encourage us to order quickly perhaps because we were a large group but she didn't explain it that way. She forgot some items (but comp'd a glass of wine for doing so) and one entree came out after the others but overall a great evening.
Food was better than Applebee's and booths in back are nice. Waitresses pleasant but not polished. Wine poured without tasting. Mistakes and poor communication
Paragon has great food, definitely better than typical bar food. I had scallops with mashed sweet potatoes & zucchini strings with a nice, red blend to accompany. Yum!!
I made a reservation for 6 and was hoping for a quieter experience but didn't realize that a big game was happening during that time. We enjoyed our outing though! Service was ok--forgot one meal (comped a drink while she waited) and only half of the guest of honor's meal arrived on time. Server did a good job working around those hiccups.
The service was excellent and the food way above average or expectations. I would love to eat dinner or lunch/brunch here regularly. The chef knows what he's doing.
Paragon is a great local place in Queen Anne. We had a reservation for 10 people. We had great attentive service. Excellent experience. Will definitely return and tell others about it.
Needed a last minute reservation for a large group and The Paragon was the only place that had availability. I'd never been there so I was taking my chances since I wasn't sure how appropriate it would be for our party of 11. It was perfect. We had a table in the back area which seemed quieter than the front, allowing for conversation. Outstanding food! The portions were right. The waitress was professional, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. We lingered and chatted for quite a while after paying the bill but they didn't rush us out. This is now on my list of favorite restaurants. Just wish I lived in the neighborhood. :-)
got this as an anniversary gift -- wonderful memories -- heard our wedding band here.
Good food -- wanted all the side dishes, they sounded so good
great service, nice atmosphere
music later if you stay up late enough
