I don't mind spending $30 for entrees if quality of food and service are top notch. My evening there had neither.
We haven't been there in a while and went back with high hopes. The food was just as we hoped. We were not let down and our date night was excellent.
Wonderful food but our server was remarkably poor. We asked about specials and were told there were none. Ten minutes later the table next to us got an extensive run down of specials from their server. Completely inattentive and any request for service like bread or a second bottle of Pellegrino had to be made to another member of their staff.
Restaurant was nice and the patio area looks great but they need to address this particular server as all the tables in her section seemed to be experiencing the same frustration.
We love our server
Can you add her to my profile at Paragary’s ?
This is of course one of Sacramento's long-established go-to restaurants. It deserves its fine reputation. On our last visit the service was outstanding -- speedy, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable. The food preparation was fine -- nothing outstanding but certainly no complaints. The menu selection is sparse, though -- only about three entrees that aren't either pizza or pasta. And the bar is way understocked for a good restaurant, at least on bourbon and rye -- no Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Templeton, Whistle Pig, Maker's 49, etc. All in all, fine, though, just not outstanding.
I really like this restaurant, in fact, it’s one of my favorite places in Sacramento. My only complaint is that they always try to seat my guest and I at the worst / least desirable table and I always have to ask for a more comfortable spot. I feel like this is because I look young, but it’s still annoying. I watch middle age and older couples immediately get seated at the better tables without asking. Anyway, I’ve been here about 20 times and I’ll continue to come. Maybe one day they’ll give me the best seat available instead of always making me ask for a table by the window. The food is excellent and the servers are fantastic.
Paragarys remains one of the best Sacramento spots! Always excellent food and friendly, patient service. Especially when the patio is open, it is the most charming dining venue in Sacramento.
Saturday breakfast with my honey. The food very satisfying. Service professional. The table seating, however was near the door and the air was chilly for us. The table not steady.
Great location for seasonal, fresh food, great service...
All meals were very tasty
Always a great experience. Service is excellent and food is delicious
Our waiter Matt was the best! I will ask to be at his tables from now on!
The salmon, brussel sprouts and the pavlova was great!! We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary there! We’ll definitely be back...
Exemplary wait staff and dining experience. Maria was courteous, prompt and efficient. Pork shank was excellent.
Paragary’s is a nice place. Fancy but not pretentious. Moderately priced delicious food that changes seasonally.
I really appreciated the moment when the hostess led us to our table and pulled our chairs out for us. That was a very nice touch.
Really good food and good menu. Had the paperdelle, very well made, house made pasta. Pizzas are good. Interesting desserts. I will definitely be back. Place was a little noisy, large celebrating on the bar area. Will go back in the summer to try the patio.
We've been to Paragary's several times. The food is always good. but this time it took forever to get our meal. Since we had a concert to attend, the delays made for a stressful experience. Make it clear if you're on a schedule.
Flawless experience. Service, food, wine. Wonderful feel to interior. Portuguese style tiles on floor have a maximalist vibe but the decor is “California modern” and scaled back. We had beet salad and Mary’s chicken both delicious. Patio garden is lit at night and beautiful. Mary’s Chicken apparently the signature dish. Wine list is capable for by the glass but not surprising-interesting. One note to management. Cue the wait staff not to call older female guests “young lady.” Huge buzz kill.
Good food with very good service. Ambiance is comfortable. Classy but not pretentious.
Food is slightly pricey but the corkage fee of $25 is excessive. Sort of detracted from a very nice meal.
The waiter didn’t show up to even greet us for over 10 minutes, then my food came out missing the meat. The salad tasted like someone squeezed an entire lemon in it and the core of the lettuce was slightly frozen. After our plates were gone the waiter didn’t show up for 15 minutes and we hadn’t seen him for 10 minutes before that. He also didn’t bring a refill of water even when asked.
Fantastic brunch in a lovely space. Must try the lemon ricotta pancakes!
This was my first visit to Paragary's and I am glad I did it. The food was amazing and their Bloody Mary is one of the best I have ever had (I like spicy). I can't wait to go back when the weather is better, the outdoor seating looks great. I'm not sure what was the deal but we had really bad service that day. My friends said that the service is usually great so its not something I will let keep me away and you shouldn't either, I'll just make sure I don't get the same server again :)
We had a wonderful brunch. Everyone was friendly and the food was very good - perhaps the best we’ve ever had here.
I really enjoy this place on every level. I'd call it very upscale and affordable, there is something for everyone and every price range. Don't hesitate to try it!!
Food wasn’t as good as I recall, but the service is exceptional. Lucas the bartender is the best! Would highly recommend using your cell phone flashlight as the lighting is very dim and hard to read the menu
We had an amazing 10th anniversary dinner here starting with great service at the bar from Cole, and more great service from Johnny as our server. We loved all of the food, picture from the hostess and comp dessert at the end! We love coming to Paragary’s! Thank you for making our night so special.
Always a great brunch!
The food was fantastic! I look forward to returning.
Music was too loud and service was a bit slow, but the server was nice and the food and wine were delicious. The ambiance is charming (although they should have the music less loud or maybe just a different station). I’ll definitely return.
Salmon was over salted and one of the cocktails was made poorly. Other then that the evening was great. The rest of the food was delicious, service was great and other cocktails were good.
Great steak dinner. Drinks were a little slow in coming to start.
Seated in dining area adjacent to the bar. Very loud music playing. 70s disco. Very odd choice for a "french bistro". Server was inattentive and disinterested. Bar ran out of martini glasses and used gimlet glass instead. Comments may seem picky, yet these experiences are not what I expect from one of the oldest and premier restraunteer in town.
great waiter. kitchen lost our appetizer order though. waiter provided extra wine to compensate.
Sat in the Private Dining area.
Quiet and romantic.
Great for a serious date.
The course service was perfect! We were seated had our drinks almost immediately. The first course was served and so amazing I found myself chewing slowly so I could make it last. The dishes were taken and the next three courses were served in just as timely of a manner. The host, waiter and entire team were professional attentive and a lot of fun. Words cannot describe the food. The entire experience was amazing!
Food is so so, environment is great and customer service is above average.
Their menu sounds very good, and is creative, but nearly every dish misses the mark in some way. The Amuse Bouche was very good, but too big for one bite, and a bit filling. The radicchio salad was so bitter, it was inedible, but the duck rillette on toast which was balanced on top of it was delicious. The extra course of tagliatelle with preserved lemon & sturgeon caviar was delicious, but a bit too large a serving for an extra course. I brought the leftovers home with me. The main course of black cod with spinach & trumpet mushrooms was also delicious but I had no mushrooms on my plate and the cod had many large bones. The only course that was perfect was the pavlova with candied kumquats, although I think it would have benefited by the addition of some whipped cream. The meringue was perfect, still chewy in the center.
The server was very attentive, but not well trained for fine dining. Paragary's wants to be a high end restaurant, but it's people really need to visit some good restaurants to learn how it's done. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone who is a foodie, but it is ok if you don't expect too much.
Paragaty's is always a delight. The servers are attentive, the food is excellent, the atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy. I have never had less than a wonderful time.
Brunch was excellent
