Always love going to this place.
It all started when I saw it on episodes of the Rockford Files TV show in the 70's.
Private Eye Jim Rockford used to get his tacos from there.
The only sad part is the restaurant doesn't really acknowledge the series or James Garner who played Jim Rockford.
Love the place anyway and Alaskan Crab amazing.

I don’t understand why the food was pre made. It was still good, but we asked for the BBQ dinner for 2 to be served without the French fries because it’s on the bottom and are really soggy. They said the owner said absolutely not and when we mentioned to our server that they gave our fries on the side she said they could not do it anymore. I can only imagine that the food was pre cooked and fries were already on the bottom. I can’t imagine any other reason. If the food is made fresh then anything could be done.
No problem e still enjoy the dining and atmosphere

During Summer this place is packed due to beach parking as well. Visited Malibu for a wedding and had to try it out without all the tourists in town. It was very easy to get a table reservation and we were seated right away. The service was great as our server hooked it up with a free parking pass for moving a table over to accommodate a bigger group. The drinks and food were good and the view was a bit foggy but overall fun ambience.

We started out having a drink and sat outside right on the ocean with a great view, it was very relaxing.

From there, it all went downhill.

We ordered another round of drinks and the calamari appetizer, which was far below average. I found it to be very chewy and not great quality for the $20 price tag. Yes, they give you a lot, but I'd rather have a normal sized portion of good food than a gigantic plate of inedible food.

We ordered a chicken sandwich and tacos which were okay, and then we ordered the paella to split among the 4 of us.

The paella was average at best and the clams were super fishy and inedible. The shrimp was okay, the chicken was terrible and for some reason there were bbq ribs in paella? I'd rate this honestly as one of the worst paella dishes I've ever had. Not sure how a beachfront restaurant is slacking so hard on seafood. Nobody enjoyed the paella.

Besides the food being overpriced and lacking flavor, the service was ATROCIOUS.

Our waiter never checked back in on us despite the fact I saw him glance over multiple times, make eye contact and then walk away. We sat at the table eating dinner for a good 45-60 minutes with no followup whatsoever, which is unacceptable.

Our drinks were empty for about 30 minutes and he never even asked if we wanted a refill.

The check came out to $180, and this was service I could have gotten at a local chain restaurant for $50. If you want to charge these prices, you better at least have competent servers and quality food.

I felt like this place gets by on its location/view and not its food. At the end of the day, it's still a restaurant and I come for the food, which was poor at best.

I really wanted to love our breakfast but the food was lukewarm. And it was the smallest 3 egg omelette I ever saw. I requested fruit instead of potatoes and it was part honeydew melon and part cantaloupe. Neither of which was very flavorful. For $18.00 I expected better.

The ambiance is just outstanding as was the service.

Parking was easy and six dollar co-pay very fair for four hours time.

Thursday evening was light on people dining which made it quiet for us to chat.

Menu selection was large and prices moderate.

The Paradise Paella for two was just perfection itself!

Place was a little old looking inside and chairs outside in the dining area were dirty along with the menus. When we got there I immediately didn’t want to order anything because we were a little skeeved out. We got shrimp cocktail and the shrimps tasted like they were frozen and sitting in water. They weren’t crunchy and were soggy. The only good thing about this place was that it was on the beach.

Our table was ready within 10 minutes of arrival.
They have the best clam chowder on the planet! That's mainly why we go here. Otherwise, it's pretty overpriced. Our lunch consisted of 2 bowls of clam chowder, 2 margaritas and 2 tuna sandwiches. Total bill: $90 plus tax and parking. OUCH!

We asked our waitress if we could have another loaf of bread and could it be sliced. She looked at us like we were nuts. Deer in the headlights kind of look. Also, my husband's swordfish was awful. It was dry and tasteless. The clam chowder was excellent, as well as the shrimp cocktail.

I called to make a reservation for Sunday brunch at 11AM. We arrived a few minutes early, but were told we would have a wait and that by the time we would be seated, they would no longer be serving breakfast. We were very disappointed! If we had known, we would have made an earlier reservation. Lunch was okay, but not what we planned for:

We loved the cafe, the dessert was massive! My son really enjoyed his huge martini glass of strawberries and whipped cream. I was amazed by the way it was right on the beach, and my wife loved the cocktails. My son also liked his fresh coconut with flesh.

It was delish. The fried shrimp were huge and cooked just right. The Caesar salad is also wonderful. A great way to start the meal. The king crab was sweet..so good and you can beat being on the Paradise Cove with the view. We plan to go back and try the fish. When my brother in law (lives in Florida) saw the pics I posted in Facebook he started planning what he was going to get when he comes to LA in June. The only problem (and it is minor) is they are totally inflexible about changes or substitutes. It doesn’t matter when you’re sitting there by the ocean eating your delicious seafood.

Love this place. Would have given it 5 stars BUT they took off the Lobster Eggs Benedict from their menu. We drove three hours one way to have that dish and they no longer serve it. Suggestion: Charge more for that dish and bring it back.

We made reservations for 7pm on a Sunday night, but we really didn't need them. There was only a handful of people in the restaurant when we arrived. We got a seat outside and after a few minutes a frazzled waitress said she would be right back to get our order. We watched her rush around her few tables and kept acting like she was so slammed (again the restaurant was practically empty and the wait staff was standing around) It took her about 15 minutes to finally take our drink order, and appetizer order, then asked if we wanted to order our meal too (we felt very rushed) we told her we would wait because we weren't quite sure what we wanted. We finally got our drinks, I ordered one of their house boba blended drinks (it was super good) and we got a HUGE bowl of calamari (and French fries mixed in for volume I'm sure) We decided on the lobster feast which was one of their specialties but she promptly told us they were out of lobster (how???) we settled on crab legs instead (PS market price for crab legs was $80, you don't find that out until your bill ) She never came back and asked if I wanted any other drinks or checked in with us on how our food was or if we needed anything. By the time our dinner came there was maybe 4 other tables filled in the restaurant so there was absolutely no reason for the crappy service, but she kept acting like she was running a marathon around the restaurant. After dinner we got to walk along the beach and put our toes in the sand, so that was nice. It was a pretty pricey meal for an okay dining experience. We have been before, and we will probably go again on our next trip to Malibu, but it just wasn't amazing this time.

Be warned that Breakfast finishes at 11:00am - even at the weekend. We arrived Sunday and just missed it! Servings are huge - you can easily share one plate between two which helps with the value as it can all add up.
I don't think you go for the food - it's the location and the atmosphere. We take out-of-town visitors and they love it for the history, the view and the unique setting.
The service is great. Our server was so helpful.

Really cool place. The food was fresh, well prepared and service was amazing.

Pricing - the booze is pricey. Two draft beers were 18 bucks. But the food, for its quality is amazing. The seafood platter really had it all and was cheap (in terms of how much you got).
