Paradise Cove Beach Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Paradise Cove is a unique dining experience. Beautiful beach seating is perfect for watching the sunset. Their family meals are a fantastic deal. Four of us ate for$60 though we did spend extra on the Bubble drinks :)
The chocolate cake for dessert is also over the top, easily enough for6 people!
The wait staff is very accomodating, helping get just the right items for dinner.
One warning though- parking is very tough and expensive since it is so popular during the summer. With your meal parking is $6. Just to visit the rate goes to $50!
We made our reservation for Paradise Cove Beach Cafe at the last minute to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The service was fantastic, including surprise birthday cake. The restaurant is ON THE BEACH. The view is amazing. The food was delicious, with large portions. We are already planning to return in January when we will have relatives visiting from Cape Cod.
My family and I stopped by for lunch on a Monday when it was relatively quiet compared to most other times. We had a nice, scenic window booth looking out to the beach. All of us enjoyed our entrees including the hamburger with french fries, fried shrimp, and coconut shrimp. The service was quick and friendly as well. This is a restaurant I recommend for a casual lunch and a nice ocean view.
The clam chowder and the view are the reasons to come here. The service is not. The service is always spotty here, but we experienced a new low on our visit. We ordered a crab cake appetizer and two bowls of their wonderful clam chowder. The soup came out within about 15 minutes. But the crab cakes didn't arrive for 45 minutes... and then they were all burned on one side. I complained and the manager took them off the bill, so they have that going for them. But 45 minutes for an appetizer? On a weeknight, not during the peak season? Get it together, guys.
We came here for Thanksgiving Dinner, the third year in a row. They serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy and all the fixings. They also have a great sea food and huge multi-person plates to be served family style. They also have a great bar with tropical drinks right out of the South Pacific (think Hawaii). They also have beef and pork dishes to go with everything else. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant as the wait staff is friendly makes the meal a fun occasion. We'll definitely be back.
Sat OUTSIDE for quiet atmosphere and beach ambiance. :-) Great food and excellent service!
The menu is pricy so I only go on special occasions ... I wish I could go more often.
Note: Make sure to check the parking info (on the website) carefully.
They do validate ($6 or $8) but if you go over 4 hours it is a fortune.
I've been several times food always good service was ok didn't like the fact I couldn't use my debit card because it didn't have a chip I had to go outside and there ATM I was charged $4 + my bank fee was told they could only take cards with a chip not happy
Always love going to this place.
It all started when I saw it on episodes of the Rockford Files TV show in the 70's.
Private Eye Jim Rockford used to get his tacos from there.
The only sad part is the restaurant doesn't really acknowledge the series or James Garner who played Jim Rockford.
Love the place anyway and Alaskan Crab amazing.
I don’t understand why the food was pre made. It was still good, but we asked for the BBQ dinner for 2 to be served without the French fries because it’s on the bottom and are really soggy. They said the owner said absolutely not and when we mentioned to our server that they gave our fries on the side she said they could not do it anymore. I can only imagine that the food was pre cooked and fries were already on the bottom. I can’t imagine any other reason. If the food is made fresh then anything could be done.
No problem e still enjoy the dining and atmosphere
During Summer this place is packed due to beach parking as well. Visited Malibu for a wedding and had to try it out without all the tourists in town. It was very easy to get a table reservation and we were seated right away. The service was great as our server hooked it up with a free parking pass for moving a table over to accommodate a bigger group. The drinks and food were good and the view was a bit foggy but overall fun ambience.
We started out having a drink and sat outside right on the ocean with a great view, it was very relaxing.
From there, it all went downhill.
We ordered another round of drinks and the calamari appetizer, which was far below average. I found it to be very chewy and not great quality for the $20 price tag. Yes, they give you a lot, but I'd rather have a normal sized portion of good food than a gigantic plate of inedible food.
We ordered a chicken sandwich and tacos which were okay, and then we ordered the paella to split among the 4 of us.
The paella was average at best and the clams were super fishy and inedible. The shrimp was okay, the chicken was terrible and for some reason there were bbq ribs in paella? I'd rate this honestly as one of the worst paella dishes I've ever had. Not sure how a beachfront restaurant is slacking so hard on seafood. Nobody enjoyed the paella.
Besides the food being overpriced and lacking flavor, the service was ATROCIOUS.
Our waiter never checked back in on us despite the fact I saw him glance over multiple times, make eye contact and then walk away. We sat at the table eating dinner for a good 45-60 minutes with no followup whatsoever, which is unacceptable.
Our drinks were empty for about 30 minutes and he never even asked if we wanted a refill.
The check came out to $180, and this was service I could have gotten at a local chain restaurant for $50. If you want to charge these prices, you better at least have competent servers and quality food.
I felt like this place gets by on its location/view and not its food. At the end of the day, it's still a restaurant and I come for the food, which was poor at best.
I really wanted to love our breakfast but the food was lukewarm. And it was the smallest 3 egg omelette I ever saw. I requested fruit instead of potatoes and it was part honeydew melon and part cantaloupe. Neither of which was very flavorful. For $18.00 I expected better.
The ambiance is just outstanding as was the service.
Parking was easy and six dollar co-pay very fair for four hours time.
Thursday evening was light on people dining which made it quiet for us to chat.
Menu selection was large and prices moderate.
The Paradise Paella for two was just perfection itself!
Place was a little old looking inside and chairs outside in the dining area were dirty along with the menus. When we got there I immediately didn’t want to order anything because we were a little skeeved out. We got shrimp cocktail and the shrimps tasted like they were frozen and sitting in water. They weren’t crunchy and were soggy. The only good thing about this place was that it was on the beach.
