Paradise Cove Beach Cafe
Saturday - Sunday: 8am - 10pm
You're paying for the location and view. Food is overpriced.
Dirty crowded restaurant. Noted it was a Birthday nothing done. Took forever for waiter to come by. Food came way after others seated after us. Food was way overpriced for what it was. Soggy fries.
1. Had a reservation for 245pm and it took over 20 mins to get table... whats the point of reservations?
2. because they are sooooooo busy, the food takes a LONG time to come out...
3. FYI, if you are there on their property for more than 4 hours, parking is $50. our dining took about 2 hours inc wait times... AND then we grabbed a beer/wine and sat on their awesome chairs aside the beach for 2 hours... and then got a parking shock.
4. even with all this, we very much liked the place
Very average food , in a charming location. It’s a typical tourist restaurant.
The service and view were great as it usually is. Our server was great, funny and attentive to us.
Hostess was kind of not so welcoming when my husband and I arrived for our scheduled reservation for 2 people at 7:00 pm on 7/13. Hostess insisted and said, “I can show you guys if you don’t believe me,” when asked about the reservation. Hostess said we had scheduled a reservation for 4 people at 8:00 pm. She wasn’t welcoming and kind of rude. After my husband showed her the email of the reservation the hostess said, “It doesn’t matter. You guys are going to wait regardless.”
We were seated in the back of outdoor seating even with many other tables closer to the front. The waitress forget the soup one of us ordered. Otherwise was a great meal. Spectacular location and vibe. I make a point to get here anytime I'm in L.A.
Beautiful day and surroundings. Great food as always
We were bypassed by our waiter several times and had attitude when flaged down, otherwise nice place to spend time by the beach
Sadly, this place is a money gouging business .... its all about take all your money .... fish and chips $29.00 really ? Then the parking is a total scam ... all these conditions that you don’t know going in. After you spent every last dollar on mediocre food, then they hit you with parking fees, and there’s a menu for that too. I guess the owners lease is so high that he has no choice but to smack Everyone with a huge bill.
Our server ignored us for an hour while he visited all the tables around us. Had to go find him to get our check. He never asked how we were or if we needed anything. The manager wasn’t that helpful either. Disappointing to say the least.
The servings are ENORMOUS! We usually share one entree, even as we gawk at the beautifully presented food and drinks other diners are getting. Service is friendly. Hey, it's right on the beach. It's pricey.
Love the funky, cool, retro vibe. Vintage decor, old school photos, sandy floors, view of the ocean, great to sit outside and watch the waves. casual dress. Drinks are crazy good, food comes in huge portions. Good clams, tacos, calamari, shrimp cocktail, etc.
Place amazing in the ocean No you can't see the sunset The portions are humongous, so much food. Quality and taste of the food ok, nothing great Drinks super tacky and big. Deserts also huge Service ok And no substitutions when you order something
It's nice if you want a place by the beach, but that is all Not for me
It's hard to put too high a value on ocean view, sea breeze, wiggle-your-toes-in-the-sand ambiance! The day we were there the temperature was perfect (I assume the Cove didn't control that!) and it's hard to beat that Hawaii-like feel. However, I suspect there's something special about the Cove even at night or when the weather's not perfect! Based only on what we ordered this time, the food was great. Our server (Francisco) was also outstanding--attentive and friendly. Definitely will be back!!!!
Great food & weather to go with it. Waiter got a little busy & inattentive towards the end.
With a reservation, the wait is still ~30min. The space was on the beach, but the entrance waiting area was way overcrowded. The food was predominantly fried / comfort food, but the quality was good only if you've downed a few drinks. Food was a bit overpriced, even factoring in the Malibu location. I wouldn't go again.
Staff seemed rude, parking lot to small, we weren’t offered choice of potato, vegetables or rice so we were served way to many fries. Prices to high and no alcohol in drink that was over priced
Always good, very crowded on this day, waitress was very good and kept us happy
Dirty. The food was subpar. The service was okay. There was food from the last several people all over the sand at our feet. So flies were flying and landing everywhere. It was just dirty and gross.
Arrived for reservation. Restaurant was busy. Hostess said it would be 15 minutes to be seated. Actually took over an hour. Waiter was non existent. Took over an hour for food to arrive. Food was mediocre at best. It’s one of those places that their success has now given them a reason to sell you a poor product based on location . Total tourist trap.
I understand that it was 100 degrees in LA that day, and summertime, and whatever. We have been here many times, and this was crazy. The parking lot totally full so we had to park 0.5 miles down PCH and walk, despite a reservation, we waited 45 minutes, totally crazy. We won't go back in the summer on a weekend, but will go when it is not peak season
20+ minute wait with a reservation, which meant we missed the ability to order breakfast items that we wanted. Then we had slow, slow service for a salad and shrimp cocktail, which meant our light lunch dragged on for 1.5 hours. Now that I know better, I would just order to go and eat on my beach blanket and enjoy a better view.
Food,Drinks,Beach = AMAZING!! Definitely a place to come back too!!!
Great atmosphere, decent view and service was good!
Waited at least 40 minutes even though we had reservations. I made a special request to have a table close to an ocean view, and I CONFIRMED that when we arrived. However, this was never delivered. After 40 minutes wait time, we were given a table outside (in a tent like partition blocking all the surroundings). You have no view to the ocean whatsoever!!! Plus table and chairs were not clean. Felt like dining in Burger King patio. It was a very disappointing trip. Not sure why they offer reservations with special requests when nothing close to your needs will be delivered?!?!?!
Too busy. The owner should have accepted reservations only. It’s quality not quantity.
Horrible food and very expensive.
Super touristy, ways jam packed, but whatever. Even as a local, I already wanna come back and spend my whole day on this amazing property. A must see for your visitors.
We made a reservation for 730 for the 4th of July. We arrived on time to find that those with reservations had to wait in a long line to check in, and then once checking in were told that there was an HOUR AND A HALF WAIT to be seated. What the restaurant did was give out hundreds of reservations as well as taking walk ins all day. Now, they shoot fireworks outside at 9pm. So those arriving early were not giving up their tables. So it was virtually impossible for them to honor their reservations. On top of that, after we left I got an email from Open Table asking why I hadn't shown up for my reservation! I'm a local, and will no longer go to Paradise Cove Beach Cafe.
My daughter and I went for an early dinner and to watch fireworks in Malibu. We ordered a Caesar and a burger and split them both. The burger looked about he size of a BigMac but did taste more like a steak burger. The Caesar was enough for two small appetite people to share although it was rather tasteless and full of the end parts of the head of the romaine. We walked out of there $60 lighter. For lunch. And we shared a meal. A salad and a burger. And they weren’t spectacular.
One of my favorite place in LA
Would come to this place every day
There was hair all over the beef Wagyu ribs. We got so disgusted we couldn’t eat anymore and had to leave the restaurant.
Noise, the service was terrible, food that i wouldn't feed my dog,and over priced
We are thankful that they still accomodated us even though we are an hour late. We were sitted after 5 min and was such a happy experience. Food is a little expensive but worth it. The beach chairs rental were so expensive because it is 4th of July. It is family friendly and there is a lot of lifeguard which is good. We will come back on a non holiday and would recommend it to our friends and family.
It was my husband and my first visit and we will definitely be back! Excellent service, great food and cool ambience!
Great location and friendly wait staff- can’t beat eating a bounty of fresh seafood at your table with your feet in the sand watching and hearing the surf roll in!
Overall our experience was very good. The parking lots were full and we got sent back along PCH and had to walk about fifteen minutes to the restaurant. We nearly skipped our reservation to go back home to a restaurant near our house. The wait time was about what they told us to expect and once we were seated the service was fantastic! Although the patio was very crowded, our service was outstanding.
I really enjoyed the experience of dinning at Paradise Cove. The ambiance was phenomenal and the view was exquisite. I would have liked to have known prior that I have to go to a second window for outside seating since this delayed our dinner experience. The wait for the out side patio was long. When we ordered the food was delivered expediently and the taste was delicious. I would recommend showing up early for delayed wait for the out side patio. I will definitely come back for another dinning experience.
Such a great location. Difficult parking situation.
